I would love a video on gem stones sensitive to light!! I have two pieces of hackmanite and one glows brilliantly under uv & the other looks really dull…I’m curious if light has effected it or just lower quality?!

An additional refinement on the original color of the Maxixe beryl. It was a deep, vivid blue, closely resembling top gem blue tanzanite color or fine blue sapphire color.

I bought a pendant as an aquamarine, but in real life I thought it looks like tanzanite or sapphire. I asked an gemologist through KZbin and mentioned Maxixe. How much would 2 carats faceted maxixe cost?

There's a quarry in Iowa with vugs containing hairs of Millerite. Many collectors, including me, have been disappointed to discover at home that their carefully packed specimens had all fallen off the matrix due to road vibration in travel. Also, iridescent blue-green-red calcite specimens should never be washed as the iron mineral film is poorly attached and comes off easily.

yeahhh finally bringing crocoite on the show! i keep my small specimen in a sealed box and seeing you handle that with your bare hands made my heart skip an unhealthy amount of beats. it's just so fragile... and to top it off it's also light-sensitive and becomes Cr2O3 over time if kept under sunlight, turning it brown to black. in fact the sunflower painting made by van gogh was made with lead chromate and the shades got considerably more brown over time
