This reminds me of my wedding. One thing i would recommend for someone getting married is.. do what you personally want. My husband and i wanted to elope but we felt pressured to have a traditional wedding. People kept saying we would regret not having a traditional wedding but honestly i regret not doing it the way we wanted to.

It’s so true that when you’ve been in a long term relationship where you live together with your partner, all you really care about is getting great wedding photos. My wife and I got married after 10 years together and, while we unfortunately didn’t get to have the wedding we wanted for various reasons, my main priority remains photos so she knows a shoot is coming up for our 10th anniversary in two years times. Happy for you and Hayden 💜

I’m getting married on the 20th August and we’re having a wedding ceremony with 56 guests at our local registry office (it’s an old Victorian schoolhouse so it’s super cute!) and then hiring a village hall for our reception. I made my maiden name my middle name and dropped my birth middle name so i could keep my dad's name going. He was an only child and had two daughters. I had always intended on using my maiden name as a boy name too, but i had a daughter and can't have anymore. There are ways to keep your dad's name with you so don't worry.

(And I completely agree, you're both absolutely right, if people aren't feeling completely right or comfy or such about settling down with just one person or with committing to a full-on traditional marriage or whatever...then maybe they shouldn't force themselves to do that at all[ or at least not until they actually are], because maybe it is just not right for them personally[ and that's totally okay too], and any relationship should absolutely definitely be about is right for the particular individuals in question and for those individuals mutually together. ^-^💜)

so true and I had a lot of he same experiences. one thing I will say is I fought for no cake. my mom was also very insistent on having one and at the end of the day I was like its for a few photos my husband and I aren't very much cake people either... and we just did a few options of pies and ill say we only had 3.5 left over... every single person had a piece or two so.... ladies its traditional but cake is not needed :)

I think it's curious how the whole surname thing varies a lot depending on where you're from; I didn't get why anyone would need to either pick one or hyphenate until I realized that it's not common for people to have two or three separate last names everywhere like it is here (Brazil). Makes it a bit of challenge to pick but I guess it's cool to just have one name for the family.

sadly i don't have much advice to lend. my immediate family is not religious at all so i don't really have religious trauma/it hasn't played a role in our relationship.
