Today I will talk about petcocks, what they are for and how to replace one if yours is giving you trouble. For me I have a 2004 Yamaha Bruin 350 with a petcock that will not shut off the flow of fuel to the carburetor and is also leaking fuel. Replacement of the unit is quick, inexpensive and an easy project for most home tinkerers.

Very useful video Dino. It is very important to check petcocks are working well. Many years ago I bought a near new motorcycle (no one wanted to buy it) where the vacuum cock and the carburettor needle valve were jammed open from grit in the fuel. One of the three cylinders filled with fuel. On starting ( instant with CDI ignition) the piston and rod were damaged. (A Kawasaki Mach3. It had 3 cylinders, 500cc two stroke. Yes I got it running very well)

Those 500s were awesome, Karl had a 400, my time was a bit later rz350 stuff. Can't imagine a cylinder full of petrol igniting, scarry.

Be careful feeding those squirrels. My neighbor did the same thing then a few weeks later they were running inside his kitchen walls. Especially this time of year.
