Thanks for sharing the info on square vs round spinning mats; those cons are not anything I've ever given any thought to. You're an awesome instructor, Laura.

I'm going to say you're early! Last year, after Christmas, I started a village, so i knew it would be ready this year! It worked! 🤣 It's on display now, and it's beautiful 😍

After watching your video, I purchased the rotating mat. Love it! I use it all the time, since I only work on small projects.

My first rotating mat was a square one and I got so frustrated with it for the reasons you mentioned. I now have a circle one and love it!

I don't have the Sue Daly one, but I do have a square and and round one. Gifts. I do tend to use the round more but mostly because it is smaller so I can leave it out and remember to use it.

Thanks for your opinion on the Sue Daly rotating mat. I purchased that exact one last year. Love the size and how smoothly it rotates and the base is wide. Only con I find is that it is not a self healing mat like the Olfa surfaces. Still happy I purchased it. So I’m not sure it will last as many years as my Olfas.

I love my rotating mat. Different company than the one you showed us. But yours looks like it works well. I may get me one and decide which brand works better for my application. Again thank you so much for sharing information with us. It is wonderful to see other products that are out there.

Wonderful info, Laura!!! I've been holding off buying a rotating mat as I've seen many in use on various quilting videos, and could see possible problems arising with their use. Now I feel so much more knowledgeable about what to look for! Thanks for sharing & HAPPY HOLIDAYS to YOU & YOURS!

Good info on a rotating mat. Many years ago I bought the square one with the circle in the centre, and it is such a nuisance to use because it constantly slips off the circle with is annoying. The one from Sue Daley is a nice mat. ❤

ready to purchase a rotating mat - a few years ago you recommended one by Matilda's Own - seems similar to this one - is this Riley Blake your favorite or are they equal in quality/usefulness? Thanks for your input.. Love your videos!!

I bought a Sue Daley 10" rotating mat and while it turns almost of its own accord, the pink surface didn't appear to be selfhealing and started to crumble within 6 weeks or so. Perhaps I had one from a wrong batch, but I was not too happy with the pink particles everywhere.

Save your" MONEY"! Just buy a lazy Susan and get a round piece of wood for the top. Screw it together. Get some velcro, cut a circle from a mat, and attach. You can replace mat as needed. The money you saved, you can buy more fabric 🥰. Always think outside of the box 😎

Store flat on a shelf - you have a shelf that is 16” deep? I sure don’t. Storing the rotating mat on edge in a corner of the room is the only option I have. Fortunately, I haven’t experienced any warping or shift in alignment.
