Awesome video Maria! I just watered mine tonight and saw some yellowing leaves. I cut back on H2O in the winter, but not entirely. I love canes that can bloom 2x+ ! To your point about long-lasting blooms: I can say that here in the NE, they seem to love higher humidity, initial warmer temps, and then thrive into the cooler temps. Mine has been in bloom for almost 6 months!

Do you think it can be grown upside down on a mount? It looks just like hibiki, which is no wonder, beeing one of the parents. Thank you.

I am pretty sure that you can grow it upside down...although I will say that it may try to right itself up with the canes still attempting to grow upwards...and yes you are right the bracteosum is one of the parents of the Hibiki hybrid and is the reason it does look very similar, except I believe the petals on the hibiki is a little bit more compact in comparison to the bracteosums more elongated petals. Thanks for watching and HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :)

Pretty orchid. Like the other commenters I am curious as to whether this is related to Hibiki. Enjoyed seeing this.

Hi Maria. So there is a Party going on downstairs. Lol. I like the review and if it likes hot and humid weather it is for me since I grow them all outdoors. I had a very small plant and it kicked the bucket. I will probably replace it if I can find a nice size plant.

Thank you Blanca and yes there is a blooming party going on downstairs y'all! LOL!!! I agree with you, if you replace it I would also recommend going with a more established and more mature orchid. You just have a better chance with growing and blooming them. I have stopped buying seedlings or near blooming size orchids...they just aren't hardy enough for my conditions or my lifestyle.

Such a beautiful one. I got one 2 years ago as a baby in a show and never grew good, mainly because I did not take care of it... will do what you did for yours.

The Dendrobium Hibiki is a hybrid and one of its parents is the bracteosum. That is why they look so similar.

I have one but it is not doing well at all. I had it potted, but it didn't seem happy, so I mounted it. It put on 2 new growths after that, but they didn't do well and an older can started to rot. It lost all of it's roots too. I now have it in a glass in sphagnum moss, but I doubt it will make it. 😢

I am very sorry to hear that...you may have had one that may have had an infection or caught one because these are normally pretty easy to grow. I am hoping that you can get it to recover. You may want to try to grow it in a terrarium of some sort to give it an extra boost in humidity and high moisture. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.
