The attention to the smallest detail , the execution of putting it all together , the final look - all fabulous, but enough about Mrs Jeff 😂 It’s all the fiddly time sapping little jobs that add up to the final look being done fabulous No rear number in the world will have received so many hours attention Well done 🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

You make me nervous when you use that grinder in your lap Jeff. Don't drop it. We've already got a "Mrs Jeff"...

I was thinking along those lines as well. I stopped myself. With the amount of times I have been bitten by grinders, you think I would learn.

Nice work Jeff, the rear of the Datsun looks very good now. Glad you kept the steel bumper and made it into one piece.

It is crazy how warped things will get over the years. I wonder how tight the tolerances were from the factory. Great work, overall!

Hey Jeff, when you get to your larger panels see if you can get a very large/long flexible flat edge and apply the filler in a few directions using that, ive found it way easier to find a nice body line from the get go that way, and way less filler wastage too ( Kinda like this watch?v=paB6uHlRgMY )
@HomeBuiltByJeff
@HomeBuiltByJeff 6 жыл бұрын
I will probably use something broader, although, if you keep it smooth and even, you can usually have more control with a narrower blade.

Glad you're back on the"Z" Jeff! That one piece bumper will look good when the car is finished! Mine had the rubbers & overriders which i prefer - but i'm getting used to them without. So many people are discarding the rubbers now! Tiger.

Jeff, great episode! It's going to be an awesome car! Are you using a gasless welder? If not, try turning your gas flow up which should reduce the brown soot around the welds.
@HomeBuiltByJeff
@HomeBuiltByJeff 6 жыл бұрын
No, it is gas and I will try turning it up, although a lot of the mess was from the burning paint either side.

Serious suggestion ... came to me today. 😊 When the 911 is ready, unveil it with a meet up of local Porsche owner/subscribers. Same with the Zed. I’d love to attend both. I wouldn’t be able to make the VW unveiling alas. 😉

A question for Mrs Jeff ..... Why are there a pair of metal fins, that stick out below the headlights, on the first rally car photo? I have never seen them before and guessing they are mini front spoilers? If they are, then please calculate the downforce at rally speeds.
@HomeBuiltByJeff
@HomeBuiltByJeff 6 жыл бұрын
I don't know, but I am thinking they would more likely be to stop rocks being flicked up at the windscreen.

+Home Built By Jeff they're mudflaps so when you hit a puddle it cuts down water going over the lights and screen, old rally trick I still use them today. Thumbs up for new music!

In Aus, a rough running 2 seat 240z or 260z would be at least $25k for a running junk pile. They are definitely not cheap first cars here anymore.
