Just ordered a 3' specimen , from Big Bend Yucca, to be planted out in Zone 6, SE UT. Looking forward to many years of enjoyment. the new growth was so exciting to see! The flowers are extremely showy and delightful.

I'm sure it will do great. Water regularly for it's first year.

@@therockyhillgardener It's on irrigation and we just had a serious downpour , the week after I planted it. It is settling in nicely as we head into fall and winter. Such a stunning plant in the desert environment.

When it starts to develop a trunk, do you trim off the dead leaves or leave them hanging down like you see in the desert?
@therockyhillgardenerКүн бұрын
I trimmed my dead ones off for a tidier look, but you can leave them on for a more rustic, natural look, too.

I too love this yucca! I am having trouble finding them. Any suggestions? I have a beautiful one that is about 8 feet tall. It has never bloomed. Could it be a sex thing? Anyway, I would love to send you a photo!

I have never seen Y. rostrata bloom at such a small size. Mine were all at least 10ft at first bloom

Interesting! That was their 3rd year of life.

I've noticed wild yucca bloom profusely after a wet winter. My Adam's needle bloomed it's 3rd year after a snowy winter in zone 6A but I also give water 1 x a month - from 1st freeze to last frost date.
