Amy Van Dyken is an American former competitive swimmer, Olympic Champion, and former World Record-holder. She won six Olympic Gold medals in her career, four of which she won at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, making her the first American woman to accomplish such a feat and the most successful athlete at of the 1996 Summer Olympics. Van Dyken won Gold in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter butterfly, 4×100-meter freestyle relay, and 4×100-meter medley relay. I meet Amy on a Motorcycle run here in Phoenix years back, seen her at the first stop, hum, I know this gal, saw her again at the 2nd stop, again, I know this gal, on the third stop, I stopped her and asked her, I know you, she said, do you listen to a radio station here in Phoenix, I said no, she said do you watch the Olympics, I said yes, than she tells me she's a Olympic Gold medalist in Swimming and I said, ah,, that's where I know you from. What a pleasure to meet her.. Great lady for sure.

Not to be a party pooper, but Amy Van Dyken has never adequately explained why she was involved with Balco Laboratories and their associated performance enhancing drug scandals. Until she does, she should not be celebrated.
