The greatest war time Chiefs of Army Staff of India would be:- 1. General JN Chaudhary(1965)- Although we had reorganized post the '62 defeat to China, pak was in fairly better frame technologically and psychologically. But General Chaudhary and Lt. Gen. Harbaksh Singh dragged the pak invaders into their own territory. 2. Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw(1971)-Despite pressure from Indira Gandhi for pushing an early assault, FM Manekshaw knew the logistical drawbacks which might arise due to monsoon and laid an offensive as per his schedule, leading to a decisive victory on both fronts and the creation of bangladesh. 3. General V.P. Malik(1999)- While most thought the pak supported irregulars on a higher altitude at Kargil would be India's disadvantage, Indian Army reversed the odds decisively and forced the militia on a retreat.

You have spent considerable time in compiling the history of Army service chiefs. This goes around the world for people to see, unfortunately there are spelling mistakes in names of chiefs and also the units and regiments they were commissioned into, (example the present chief is from Bombay Sappers, the first chief his surname should read Lockhart ). You could make corrections to them and it would be authentic. Great effort though

Your information is full of errors. In many cases calculation of period is incorrect. In one case year of appointment is not correctly written. In one case date of retirement is written as 31st June. Don't you know how many days are there in the month of June.
