Even being so tiny both in terms of area and population still Uttrakhand manages to contribute with 3 regiments and two of them being native to Uttrakhand. And both of them are well known among the Armed forces for their courage and valour. Salute to Uttrakhand from Goa Also I want to Add that you missed the Coorg regiment..... And Madrass Engeneering Group also known as Madrass Saperes Odisha being 5-6th largest state both economically and population wise doesn't contribute much.A regiment should be raged there as well.

No there was bengal regiment but it was disbanded in 1920, all these regiments werent freedom fighters but british soldiers and their bootlickers at that time. The Bengal regiment started the sepoy mutiny as it then included bihar too after Mangal Pandey death who was part of regiment, as more and more ppl didn't want to join bengal regiment due to rising nationalism in bengal and swadeshi after the sepoy mutiny it was disbanded

Baggage from colonial past - all infantry regiments must be disbanded and new ones raised only on - a regiment representing every state / UT - 50% of recruits to be taken from the state for which it is named - 50% from rest of the country

@@mrunalsambhaji7641 British designed regiments to divide and rule - instead let us have infantry regiments named after states as each state has a proud martial history. They can be linked to our heroes. Regiments based on caste and religion like Sikh / Rajput / Jat do not sync with current Indian national thought process

@@obvious-troll Soldiers will be more happy to serve the new regiments raised based on each state / UT rather than serving caste and religion based regiments rolled out by British on their policy of divide and rule INA did not have any caste based brigades - they gave a tough fight to British imperialism. Ideally there should be homogenous all India regiments - but looking into martial history state based regiments are equally necessary to inculcate a sense of pride amongst states. Hence a 50:50 mix of all India and state regiments is needed Further 50% of state regiment soldiers must be from outside the state to further national integration
