Man Conrad Smith left out of the All Blacks side to face France in that 2007 QF. Massive mistake.Henry belief that the 2007 ABs could beat anyone with players like Mils shoehorned into center and Mauger and Howlett left in the stands. 2007 still pains me. Best side by a country mile in the world , if the ABs had got to the final SA would have been blown away.

It's not possible to say that the All Blacks are just not that good because of their World Cup attempts. Our win ratio is by far the best in the world. But we obviously can get beaten. We aren't invincible. The teams we've lost against during WC campaigns are deserved winners. The pressure theory is arguable though, we get hyped up by the media etc across the globe and enter WC's as favorites constantly. The pressure to be an AB during a WC must be relentless.

You,re correct, the arrogance and poor selections of Woodward were almost unbelievable . Almost as many hangers on as players. Coaching and personalities were also a big part of the'77 Lions demise. I think 2009 Lions although up against it in S.A. will be a far happier team under Geeks and OÇonnell, and that could make a huge difference, Cheers

Brian O'Driscoll would be the most dangerous 13 in world rugby if he was in the NZ team and got the quality ball he needs. NZ were miles ahead of everyone in 2005, their biggest mistake was allowing Umaga to retire 18 months before the World Cup. This Lions Tour was an absolute MESS though- I love Clive Woodward but he is a long-term guy and not someone who can throw together a competitive Lions team. McCGEECHAN FTW!! Roll on Australia in 2013!

That Ref missed half a dozen penalties by the french in the second half. He wasn't confident t ref the game properly. AB's had the french on the blowtorch last 10min and to tell me the french never infringed was total crap.

Not a coinidence at all. AucklandRulez comment is correct, the difference is the NZRFU coaching systems that bring out the best in these players. nothing to do with poaching kids from the Islands. Their families move here for employment etc rather than rugby. Don't know where your 'self proclaimed 'invincibles comment came from think you may be confused! Any of the top teams can beat each other on the day simple as that, but no doubt N.Z. will win a few more cups in years to come! Ireland?

Dreadful tackle but get over it!!! Yes the lions would have been better with him but still would have got done!! Nothing against O Driscoll; but I think their biggest loss was Dallaglio, even at the end of his career, the best forward they had by a mile. Also woodward got so many things wrong, and tried to camoflage his shortcomings by continually referring to the O Driscoll incident! The 2009 Lions will be a far happier bunch under McGeechan, andO Çonnell !!

The spear was totally off the ball.The All Blacks knew O'Driscoll was the Lions' only chance of actually winning the series so they took him out,simple as that. As I said,Umaga was a very good player but O'Driscoll is better - look at some of his vids on youtube (and a lot of his earlier brilliance isn't on this site).

Actually UlsterWinger wilkinson didn't lead the English team, and they were definitely above average; in fact they were a very good team. Boring, but very efficient, at what they did, and they deserved that cup! Wilkinson was anything but brilliant in that tournament but he did land the drop goal that won it good on him! N. Z. has of course won a world cup just in case you didn't know. Thats one more than Ireland; the worst performing team at world cups of the established rugby nations!

i dont get the preoccupation with NZ apparently choking in rugby world cups, we've got pretty much the same record as England, won one, lost one final, knocked out in a semi and a quarter final....besides England have never beaten NZ in a world cup match. Noone accuses England of being chokers....I guess its a compliment of sorts that everyone expects us to win it everytime.

I think Ireland are never taken for granted by the Ab's, but in recent yearsagainst N,Z, they drop their heads and seem to think here we go again. This was NEVER the case in Irish teams of old, they just kept coming and NEVER gave up. This is my opinion, but hopefully intelligent- If POC's "manic " was changed to controlled agression and you got that old spirit back all the better for Irish and N.Z. rugby, as one sided matches although often spectacular, cant beat a true nail biting test match
