Mortal Kombat 1 is a fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. It will be the twelfth main installment in the Mortal Kombat series, serving as both a sequel to Mortal Kombat 11 (2019) and the series' second reboot, following Mortal Kombat (2011). The game is set to be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S on September 19, 2023.
Mortal Kombat 1 has been confirmed to feature a story mode, online multiplayer with rollback netcode, and offline gameplay. The game will introduce a feature called Kameo Fighters, which will provide assistance to the player during fights. These characters will be separate from the main roster, and chosen before each fight. Additionally, the Air Kombat combo system which was featured in both Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and the action spin-off Shaolin Monks returns, and is being refined for this game.
As of the game's announcement date, it has been revealed to feature reimagined versions of characters such as Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena and Kenshi. Shang Tsung will be offered as a pre-order bonus. Six additional characters and five kameo fighters are planned for post-launch release via the "Kombat Pack" downloadable content, which also includes a skin for Johnny Cage featuring the likeness of Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Kameo Fighters are a unique roster of partner characters to assist during matches, creating expanded gameplay possibilities for players. These characters are chosen separately from the main roster of fighters.
Some characters can serve as both kameo fighters and main roster fighters. Guest characters can even serve as kameo fighters.
Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on September 14, 2023 for those who have ordered the game's Kollector's Edition and Premium Edition, while purchasers of the Standard Edition will be able to access the game on September 19, 2023 .

They couldn't give us Kronika Crown Jax, or Jacque. Hooded Frost, virtually every costume featured in the character endings of MK11 with a few exceptions, Cyrax, or Sector in MK11, most of the story mode characters in MKX. Among many other examples from Injustice. I'd keep my expectations low my friend.

If they’re gonna give us any of these customization options, then at least give us Cyber Smoke. He just looks too cool not to let us have as a skin, even if we’ll be trading in the kunai on a chain in exchange for Smoke’s full moveset. Oh and Ninja Mime. Can’t go wrong with Ninja Mime.

It's cool to see versions of most characters on the "good" and "bad" sides. But it's kinda weird that they can tell who they should be fighting. Armageddon was basically a free-for-all, but this is a war.

They did get a good look at each other's sides before the battle kicked off, Union of Light saw the variants on top of the Pyramid and vice versa for Order of Darkness. Hell, who knows, maybe there's areas on the Pyramid where someone accidentally attacks their own side that we don't see.

It's so silly, yet creative that they have all these crazy, insane WTF timeline versions of these familiar characters where it's literally one character dressed as and fighting as a different character, with a silly portmanteau name to go with them. And I love how Cyborg Smoke is literally there, but doesn't use any of his cyborg moves - only his human moves.🤣 Kinda makes me wish you could play as these WTF timeline characters since their movesets are already there since they're literally copied from existing characters.
