Mortal Kombat 1 is a fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. It will be the twelfth main installment in the Mortal Kombat series, serving as both a sequel to Mortal Kombat 11 (2019) and the series' second reboot, following Mortal Kombat (2011). The game is set to be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S on September 19, 2023.
Mortal Kombat 1 has been confirmed to feature a story mode, online multiplayer with rollback netcode, and offline gameplay. The game will introduce a feature called Kameo Fighters, which will provide assistance to the player during fights. These characters will be separate from the main roster, and chosen before each fight. Additionally, the Air Kombat combo system which was featured in both Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and the action spin-off Shaolin Monks returns, and is being refined for this game.
As of the game's announcement date, it has been revealed to feature reimagined versions of characters such as Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena and Kenshi. Shang Tsung will be offered as a pre-order bonus. Six additional characters and five kameo fighters are planned for post-launch release via the "Kombat Pack" downloadable content, which also includes a skin for Johnny Cage featuring the likeness of Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Kameo Fighters are a unique roster of partner characters to assist during matches, creating expanded gameplay possibilities for players. These characters are chosen separately from the main roster of fighters.
Some characters can serve as both kameo fighters and main roster fighters. Guest characters can even serve as kameo fighters.
Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on September 14, 2023 for those who have ordered the game's Kollector's Edition and Premium Edition, while purchasers of the Standard Edition will be able to access the game on September 19, 2023.

To be honest, Megan Fox's voice acting doesn't really hold up compared to the other voice actors and actresses. She's not bad persay (unlike Dimitri Vegas), she just sounds way too relaxed for what's going on in the story.

@@Polomance862As someone that have met both actors and vice actors, VA need to take acting lessons the same that any other actors, and in both communicating emotion with voice and expression is important, for some reason Megan was not communicating emotion which is either her fault or the dialogue direction but either way is noticeable, while she is not a VA she is an actress and should be able to tranfer emotion to a scene, the way she was recoded sounds like she was not given context to her lines or she simply didnt do the efforts, but also you have to remind she was mocaped in so the lack of emotion in that regard as well means this wasnt a VA error as she could have acted that scenes fully.

I mean, in Erron Black's ending, he just chucked the hourglass into the ocean of blood and called it a day. Funny how some of the lesser villains just threw away their shot to be all powerful and the it's the good guys who screw around with it.

@@Maniacman2030The thing with MK is that most of the minor villains aren’t even all that bad. They’re just basic street crooks or gangsters. Even a few of the more oddball ones are fairly standard in the right light. Kano is literally just a gangster and career trafficker. Kabal is also a member of a criminal organization. Darrius is a terroristic revolutionary. Erron Black is a mercenary for hire. Kollector is literally just a debt collector for the bureaucracy. Hell, even someone like Skarlet is the “orphan adopted for assassinations” archetype with magic powers. While characters like Kollector and Skarlet obviously want for more, people like Kano, Erron, and especially Kabal want nothing to do with the wild magical adventures and just want to live their lives. They all have generally pretty good lives going outside of the whole inter-realm conflict between ancient gods (Kano runs one of the most infamous and successful syndicates in Earthrealm, Kabal is a normal guy who managed to get super speed and has a relatively comfy gig with the Red Dragon in the future, and Erron makes good money and gets benefits from Kotal). The only things guys like them would even really want is to get what they have but better. Kano gets his adrenaline, Kabal gets a cozy family life fighting to protect everyone, and Erron gets reassurance that the constant celestial trifling with reality is done with. All pretty good for them. I would argue they aren’t even all that bad, those three. They just kinda go along with the hand they got that led them to Mortal Kombat. Even someone like Kano is pretty neutral outside of his dealings specifically. He does what he does because it’s good business. I doubt he would have any less fun in hostile business acquisitions or even politics if he tried hard enough. It’s just easy to follow the life he does now and it gets him his fun the fastest with the least expenses. He’s no slouch in strategy or business and has a lot more cunning than he lets on. He could do good if he really wanted to - selling to the Special Forces would be good business, after all. Lots of money to be found there, and they have plenty of enemies to fight and struggle with. He could probably be decently good if he wanted to be.

Actually, Tanya and Shao have a dialogue together that implies the system still existed in Outworld at some point in the New Era. Shao responds to a remark from Tanya about him resembling the despots of old demanding not to be compared to “those dark Kahns”. This is obviously primarily another reference to MKvsDC and the main villain of that game being Dark Kahn, but also is phrased in a way that explicitly states that some cycle of tyrannical rulers once controlled Outworld under the title in olden times that presumably predate the rule of Jerrod and Sindel. We know Outworld has had many disputes in its history as stated by Liu Kang early in the story, but this is the one time we get confirmation that a Kahn of the same variety as Shao once ruled, but was seemingly deposed - potentially by Sindel and Jerrod themselves, which could be the past conflicts Jerrod mentions to Liu Kang upon his return to consciousness within Ermac. We also know Shao’s father fought in the Outworld military as did those before him, so it’s possible their ancestors or even Shao’s father himself fought against or even turned on the old Kahns. I imagine it was likely before then, however, as Shao is in disbelief when Ashrah mentions his father’s place in the Netherrealm, claiming he died with honor, which tells me he wasn’t a pathological traitor. I actually find the lore on that aspect of the New Era’s history really interesting and want to see more of it expanded on.

Not gonna lie, I don’t think Emperor Bo Rai Cho would be all that bad. Not a good thing obviously, since I imagine the drunkenly-written legislature that all third daughters specifically must become consort for the Emperor himself or that bees are now mammals because they make tasty stuff and are to be harvested under agriculture law isn’t great, but he isn’t a terrible guy. He trained the two main monks and Shujinko, after all. I don’t think he’d be heartless, at least. Plus, drinking age is nonexistent and every holiday is loaded with food and merriment.

The mirror matches are something about hallucinations, other selves from different timelines, past/present/future selves or Shang Tsung. The there is reptile. All of the above + a Star Trek reference. (For those who don't know, it's at about 10:17, and the first Reptile asks the other one what he is if he isnt Zeterran, his species, and the second replies with Saurian, A Star Trek species based on if the dinosaurs made their way to the... *checks notes * other side of the galaxy after the metor hit earth?
