It was messed up, be it peer pressure, denial, etc. But, if that didn't happen: then she wouldn't have stopped writing him; he wouldn't have missed her; etc. They needed to see each other's flaws & deal with their insecurities, in order to become better for themselves & each other. 😊

Something that just occurred to me is how much Colin was drinking in season 2. The flask, multiple 🥂 throughout the ball.... I think his ignorant comments about Pen were partly influenced by the alcohol BUZZ he'd acquired.

Missing are the 2 scenes where Colin dances w/Cressida & takes her broken ruby necklace while Penelope watches, then Colin takes Penelope to the drawing room to show her the fake ruby necklace & interacts w/corrupt Cousin Jack with Penelope & her Mom in the room.
