I am alright with older limited cosmetics not coming back. What I am not alright with, is that there are almost no "new" limited cosmetic sets coming around or staying "limited" for too long. Once it becomes a little rare and you get to feel somewhat special to have it, you find it in the store with a 200 doubloons pricetag. I once bought a plunderpass where was a Ravenwood costume that had an exclusive emote coming to it. Right now, not that only you can buy the whole Ravenwood set in the emporium anyway, the emote is literally a limited freebie emote given away for everyone. And I once paid for it. And that is the only one of many, many examples. Anyway, we don't need The Hungering Deep set back, or it's re-coloring. But we could use a whole new themed event with new cosmetics. Which is something that quite died with the seasons arrival. But I understand the folks are busy.

I have a day one eyepatch and I could not care less if they made it available for everyone to buy. It does nothing for me to keep completionists from getting whatever cosmetics they want. Doesn't take the memories away from me of being one of the first pirates on the sea. FOMO systems are stupid in every game and only serve to damage the consumers experience

I agree with the FOMO stuff. What I want to know is who's getting so mad over re-releasing stuff!? What if someone had no way to play the game or they want a specific color but can't get it and the recolor clashes with what colors they like or need? It's a whole lot of unnecessary gatekeeping when half of these items no one uses is what kills me. I get the arena items to an extent, but from the sounds of it hardly anyone wanted to play arena which is why it got axed in the end. Plus it was a bug filled nightmare 😬

One thing I might like to see for time-limited cosmetics is some sort of way to earn parts of cosmetic sets that you were actually around for but just didn't get all of, that is, if you already have some of the cosmetic set, I mean. For example, imagine you have the sails and the hull of a certain ship set, but life got in the way during the time it was available, and you couldn't get the rest of the complete set. Imagine if you could do some sort of lengthy challenges or something to earn the rest of the set, but you're only allowed to do so because you already have some of the set from back when it was initially available. I feel like that could help with at least some of the pains of FOMO and missing out on things that you didn't get, but wouldn't really take anything away from the people who already earned these cosmetics - since if you earned them via the idea I'm proposing, you would have still had to be around when the cosmetics were first available and also had to have earned at least one part of the set, as well. Just an idea I had since I've had at least a couple old sets that I've only partially completed and am still kicking myself over never finishing (particularly the Wailing Barnacle ship set). I'd legit grind 30 or so hours just to earn the rest of these sets and finally be able to complete them after all these years. I feel like this idea would be a win-win kind of deal for all parties, what do you guys think?

Exactly! That’s why I was SO crushed when they re-released the Original Pirate Legend curse from Season 1. It was THE one thing I had to show others that I’ve been playing since at least season 1. (Tbf I played a little beta but couldn’t afford it so missed many of the earliest rewards/cosmetics, including the day 1 patch the original golden cannons, and so many things you mentioned that won’t be coming back. I also played arena like 1 time and decided it wasn’t for me (without a true fair shake). So I missed out on all that… wandering reapers etc. bums me out to have missed those and not be able to get them; but I understand. So making the PL curse available was such a gut punch to me…

I've been playing since Hungering Deep and although I have a lot of these cosmetics, I have also missed plenty, and to this day the ONE time limited cosmetic that still comes back to haunt me among them is the original bone crusher ship set (specifically the figurehead). The recolour is okay, but they missed the mark with the skull (for obvious reason I won't complain against) and the only reason I'm still salty is that I cannot live out my dream of becoming a fully fledged skeleton ship.

I feel like for the more major items like the Hungering Deep and Wandering Reaper type stuff, those items should stay gone as they mean quite a bit. But for sets that are partially completed like Wailing Barnacle, Bone Crusher, Forsaken Ashes, and even Mercenary should be put back in the shops, albeit with some extreme conditions to obtain them. It seems a little pointless to make part of the set be time limited but let the rest be available when there’s not a lot to replace the missing pieces with. Recolors are amazing in terms of obtaining the model, but when it comes to the color scheme that’s a whole other ball game. One-off items like Festival of the Damned means something because of how unique it is, but it’s just annoying and a let down to try and equip the Mercenary sword with a sniper only to find that you’re stuck with the pistol or nothing.

Events like Hungering Deep or rewards like Golden Legendary are great as they show some real prestige without giving later players limited access to a full set. The way the big four are set up makes it frustrating for players who come along later and want a set in a certain color scheme, only to find they can only have some of a set rather than the full thing.

Iirc, someone did a count of all of these unused cosmetics and its something like 90 individual items. Why pay employees to make these and not use them at all?

I think anything that requires a hardcore challenge like arena, the mercenary things etc etc is fine. Anything that is a login bonus, a plunder pass etc etc is fair game to re-release you literally just opened the game on a random day to get them. That is the most FOMO cosmetics. In general if a challenge stays as hard as it always was I don't see the issue in anyone unlocking cosmetics later on for the exact same action that someone did it in the past. Given the already at times what feels like lack luster customisation options ESPECIALLY for newer players (I can look at what you can unlock vs time limited stuff) I think un time locking the easier to obtain stuff behind a challenge shouldn't be an issue. Sure you got it for logging in but this guy got it for hitting 3 skeleton ships with a cannon ball on a random saturday. Especially with the athenas curse. I respect way more the people who grinded for it than the people who were randomly pirate legend in season 1.

not a cosmetic but a sort of Hg mode where you of up to 1-4 players shoot out of cannons onto medium islands or forts and battle it out in a TDM fashion it could benfiet plyers who enjoy the hand to hand combat of the game (such as myself) all while giving other players a chance to learn the weapons rather than blasting cannons at each other the cosmetic rewards could be some new guardian and servant themed sets to go with the curses and figurehead and it can take place on public servers with a forcefield around the island to not have 3rd parties team up against the other team

tdm (ppl just keeping a ship afloat while killing the crew and have their crew farm hits) was the biggest reason that players stopped playing arena which was its downfall in the end. no chance rare would add someting like that cause it inevitably would end in noobs constantly complaing and the sweats getting angry about rare abondoning the mode cause of a decreasing player base.

i think the idea of recoulors would be a good take on old time limited cosmetics. in the end there will always be ppl complaining on both sides why or why not to get a cosmetic back in the game. i have several time limited stuff but also missed some i really like to have gotten back than (wandering reaper hull, only missed it cause i thought the event would go a week longer than it has) but in the end the time limited stuff mostly just collects dust cause many of them just doesnt look good enough to me to use them instead of skelly curse and emporium stuff. also time limited doesnt mean any skill associated with them, the ammount of times i saw ppl have from clothing to ship everything as a time limited (and looking like clowns just to show them all of at the same time) and have little more skill than someone whos just started playing is alarming so mostly i wouldnt care if they rereleased them anyway aslong as its still connected to some kind of event/activity, if ppl like them, the assets are already made so why not have a chance ppl can get them who want to actually use them

I have played during the time it was released and was close to unlocking everything but as we were playing as a group we wanted to unlock them all together at the same time and one friend just kept not showing up and all 4 of us didn't get it which was really disappointing. With so many new players coming to the game all the time, the evergrowing list of unobtainable cosmetics, versus the current obtainable ones is appaling (especially considering the Emporium these days). I would much rather have everything coming from time limited events make their return soon after, but tied to a difficult commendation (even new ones, such as my grog chest example), or a high cost like the previous season items.

You had to be lvl 5+ in arena before the closure. Lvl 50 for Good Boy
