It it would be a good Zelda story line I mean hylia is in tears of the kingdom and the master sword is broke based off of the E3 clip we saw so many that is the story line who knows?

The idea of the Poe Sisters being four of the five deceased Sages has me now wondering if maybe, just maybe, the Poe that guides Link across the Haunted Wasteland to the Spirit Temple might be the fifth deceased Sage.

My thoughts went to Twinrova herself... it is said that Ganondorf killed the sages and cursed the temples so the new sages could not awake (or something like that). However... if the sisters really were four of the five sages (and I doubt that, yet my conclusion is the same), than Ganondorf didn't kill the spirit Sage... and maybe didn't even needed to. It seems like Ganondorf hasn't been at the spirit temple for a long time... the temple is not cursed by him yet you have the koume and kotake who raised and guided Ganondorf to become their powerful chosen hero... much like Rauru did with Link. We can't find any clues to the former Spirit sage, because the ancient spirit sage never died... it was her own choice to ignore Raurus calling. So instead of cleansing the spirit temple of a curse, Link without knowing had to get rid of the ancient sage who betrayed the rest of the sages yet still protected their holy place. By killing Twinrova, Naboru became the new sage, trying to redeem what the old sage had done and helping Link and the Gerudos as a whole on that matter onto a better path.

Just want to give one theory a tweak. I think it would make more sense (seeing there's other temples and whatnot) to say that Meg is the former Forest Sage, and her sisters are just there in her service (i.e. not sages). In medieval times, it was very common for principal nobles' brothers to serve as their vassal. Since only one could be the Lord of a specific land, the brothers became a noble of the level below. So Meg was a Forest Sage and her sisters are there in service of her Sageship.

My headcanon for a long time has been that the Fabulously Wealthy Family who live in Kakariko defiled a preexisting Forest Temple and built a mansion over it. This would eventually come back to bite them, hence the curse that turns them into Skulltulas, and they fled to presumably a summer house or something in Kakariko. I've been a proponent of the Goddess of the Sand being a distorted version of Hylia for a long time, particularly given the Zelda's Lullaby-connected locks therein.

The one issue is Beamos. Beamos seem to have been a Goron invention (as they have the Goron race symbol on them.) Though one can argue that Ganondorf may have corrupted the ones inside, turning the once "Guardians" into enforcers of his will... and suddenly this is sounding very familiar.

While watching the Forest Temple section, I realized... The Lost Woods has shortcuts to Zora's River and Goron City, giving 2 of the 3 poe sisters quick access to their respective temples if we buy into the theory that they are the sages 👀
@ryanbartz7776
@ryanbartz7776 Жыл бұрын
In my opinion the forest temple was Hyrule Castle from years past and was abandoned. In Twilight Princess old Hyrule remains is in sacred grove basically lost woods as time progresses hylians could migrate elsewhere. The forest temple has a courtyard two of them, and in the courtyard when you look up it looks like a wall for a castle, the room with the black and white tiles could be a dinning room and the room with a Poe sister could be a kitchen, other rooms look like bedrooms or training grounds, and the bottom floor where the boss is could be a living quarters for someone big living there. I also heard that the Poe sisters where not evil possible just brainwashed by ganondorf and all they were doing was protecting the forest temple but the reason why the final Poe is making a weird noise where the elevator is, is because she’s crying that all her sisters were just murdered by a intruder.
@quantasium
@quantasium Жыл бұрын
Great theories as usual! Here’s some of my my ideas about these dungeons. For Dodongo’s Cavern, the Gorons most likely didn’t eat the boulder blocking the entrance because that type of rock is not edible. It’s like how humans can eat plants, but we can’t eat all plants. The Forest temple was most likely a military base that also functioned as a summer vacation home for the royal family. It was most likely attacked and destroyed during the Hyrulean Civil war and the royal family decided not to rebuild it. The Poe sisters were probably the caretakers of the fortress and were unfortunate casualties of the invasion. I believe the ancient sages Rauru was referring to were the five spirits that we see in Twilight Princess. During times of peace, these spirits are the ones who watch over the sacred realm. However, when the sacred realm is threatened, they call on their living counterparts of the era.

I also read that the Forest temple was supposed to be a wind temple, hence why there are wind symbols in the forest temple, also when you try to save saria in ganondorf's tower, her section has fans blowing in the room right before you re-awaken saria.

I kinda wonder if the Four Poe Sisters are somehow linked to the Four Sword since the Four Sword has been created with the Picori Blade getting Fixed after being broken by Vaati, and then it was fueled with the power of the Four elements, which are Earth (purple), Fire (red), Water (blue) and Wind (Green), similar to the Poe Sisters. In two Games where Link gets it, it automatically duplicates him into 4 with each one representing a color of one of the 4 elements.

The four Poe sisters, imo, were four priestesses who each held a sacred colored flame, which when applied to the sacred barriers in the main hall of the Forest Temple, acted as a key which opened the way to the Forest Sages chamber, which they could use to enter the Chamber of Sages. I also think the reason the Forest Temple was such a big, imposing, stone structure was because anything built in a forest will be overtaken by it in time, so it needed to be virtually impenetrable in order to protect the entrance to the Chamber of Sages. And it's designed in a Greco-Roman style because those countries are very mountainous and, outside of Asia, very ancient (?) I noticed this with the Viridian City's Earth Gym in the Pokemon anime too, it had a sort of Greco-Roman feel to it, and its guards looked like spartan warriors.

Personal head canon I came up with just now is that the Poe sisters were of a rival royal family, who the Hyrulian royal family defeated, with the sisters being casualties. They then took over their castle, and plopped on a Triforce in the top room. Over time the Poe sisters began haunting the place more and more, and it was abandoned... In fact the whole area around the castle was haunted and then abandoned. Yada yada, then years later people came here and worshipped stuff and made it a secluded temple

I think the Poe Sisters are more likely priestesses who followed the Forest Sage if anything. With Meg being the head priestess. I don't think the old sages would become evil spirits. I've always thought they just reincarnated into their current selves. Whether they stayed the same race or not is unknown. The ancient Goron Hero could've also been the ancient Fire Sage. Though having combined symbols and dungeon mechanisms would make sense that each of the ancient sages helped build the temples of the other sages. Which would be why similar puzzles and trap are found in multiple temples.

Well if the Poe sisters were the ancient sages of forest, fire, water, and shadow, and the ancient sage of spirit was a gerudo, I think the best explanation for why the sage of spirit wasn’t with them was that they had a more important obligation. I suggest that they were a previous gerudo king, since only one male is born per century and they always lead the gerudo people there must have been gerudo kings before ganondorf who weren’t necessarily evil.

The Godess of the sand is Din. The Gigaleak revealed it via the games script. Yeah it's beta, but if we're going down "which Goddess is it" Din would make the most sense as she actually existed at the time and she has a connection with Ganondorf via the Triforce of Power.

Whether it is Din, or Hylia, or whoever, I find it just so strange the way that Navi describes that Goddess's face as "looking evil". I know it's meant as a puzzle hint (shine light at the statue's face), but it's just strange to me. Nothing about the Goddess or her statue seems "evil", it's like people (in-universe) just decided it was evil because the Gerudo were worshipping it.

It does have a snake and given din's connection to ganaondwarf. It is possible that din has more malevolent intentions when worshipped on her own. We never really see what worshipping the three separately looks like, so maybe din is more monstrous when worshipped on her own. Plus, that giant statue is creepy.

I seem to remember that Ganondorf didn’t put the Boulder there, Darunia did in response to the dodongos. Especially with how easily Link gets in there after getting the strength of a goron

To the “why don’t The gorons eat The entrance blocking rock” question my guess is that that rock is not an edible rock for them just like not all plants are edible plants to us. Just as we cannot eat poison ivy or turf grass they probably can’t eat that very specific kind of rock

Dodongo cave would make more sense if Ganondorf simply revived King Dodongo in the cave and the Gorons blocked the entrance to the cave to prevent its escape

In the German version, (maybe English too, idk) one of the Gorons says that they're picky eaters who can hardly eat anything else than the delicious Rocks from Dodongos Cavern, wich is most likely why they can't eat the boulder thats blocking the entrance.

They do say that in English, too! While it comes across as a little silly, I appreciate that they do try to explain it. And it fits the (somewhat) lighter tone of Young Link's adventures.

13:37 Considering what you said about the Poe Sisters in the Forest Temple, it’s likely the Poe here in the Haunted Wastes is the previous Spirit Sage. Without further research, it’s hard to say how true that might be. However it would fit nicely into the mix as the Sage to Poe pattern established in the Forest Temple.

Someone may have perhaps said this already, but I wonder if the four Poe Sisters in the Forest Temple really are the ghosts of past Sages, maybe the Phantom Guide in the Haunted Wasteland, who you meet on the way to the Desert Colossus in Ocarina of Time, was the missing fifth Sage, the former Sage of Spirit..?

The part about the Gerudo emblem on the blocks isn't a very solid theory, since the same asset is used in all the stone blocks in every OoT dungeon. Additionally, the same pattern appears in Majora's Mask, where every stone block that appears has the Majora's Mask sillhouette engraved on them. This feels more like asset-economy rather than a conspicuous lore drop.

The Gorons can't eat that big boulder because it's inedible. Also, Darunia was trying to think of a plan to fight off the Dodogos without sacrificing his people

“why didn’t they eat the rock blocking the cavern?” darunia mentions them being ‘such gourmets’ that they can’t eat normal rocks anymore, they’ve evolved their taste to only like rocks from inside the cavern.

Hold on, I'm only 2 and a half minutes into this, but Ganon didn't put the rock in front of the mine, Darunia put the rock there! Ganon used magic to bring back the Dodongos in the cavern. They are so dangerous to the Gorons that he blocked off the mine to keep the Gorons safe.

If I had to make a wile guess, Gorons probably need a specific or several specific minerals and that's why they can't just eat any random rock or need to eat specific rocks like volcanic ones that are rich in whatever they need.

Considering the ease of removing the boulder closing Dodongo Cavern, I assume the gorons put it there to keep the dodongos inside. They call them an a ancient menace so it's unlikely they're well versed in fighting them. And I assume the beamos were put there by Ganondorf as an additional obstacle, but I'm only guessing that because they're the first thing you see in Ganon's Castle later on and that they're tan which makes me think they're gerudo-made.

But there is an answer to why the Gorons didn't eat the boulder blocking Dodongo's Cavern. They literally said they became such gourmets that they were very picky about which rocks they ate. Not a valid excuse, but that's the answer
@linkblade0

If you look at the rock in front of Dodongos Cavern it appears to be cracked. I theorize that the Gorons actually did try to eat or break the rock. However, it's not actually a natural rock. It's a magically conjured rock, hence riddled with dark magic so the Gorons couldn't stand it.
