The NATO Alliance is the backbone of security in Europe, and by extension, the free world. Despite the political rhetoric coming from certain U.S. politicians, I hope our European NATO Allies understand that the United States will never, ever abandon them. NATO came to America's aid in Afghanistan after 9-11. We will make every sacrifice to keep Europe free, just like our grandfathers and great-grandfathers.

It is truly remarkable that NATO forces are capable of responding to threats so quickly. Even from thousands of kilometers away, full deployment takes just three days. In the face of an increasingly belligerent Russia, NATO forces stand unified, ready, and capable to deal with any threat moving forward. Amazing work! The United States is proud and honored to be in allegiance with NATO.

I'm German and hugely thankful for America's support after the war (care etc.) and the US and NATO having our backs. Trump's actually sort of a blessing, causing American generals, officers and common soldiers to state their commitment and friendship to support their allies. Glad to host your troops and the American forces' biggest medical treatment facility outside the US. Semper fidelis

just out of interest, why did it take 3 days on the road from greece to romania if according to google maps this can be done in 18 hours? (from germany you could apparently already get there in a day).
@GordonSeal5 жыл бұрын
Likely bureocracy and logitistical reasons, crossing borders, refuelling the large amount of vehicles, making stops inbetween, ... I guess in case of emergency they could shorten that time even further, but three days is still very good, considering that they can get units (infantry, light vehicles) there in less than a day if needed by paradrops.
@Peoples_Republic_of_Devonshire5 жыл бұрын
Driving a single vehicle takes far less time than moving a convoy as there's so much more to convoy work than driving
@zepter005 жыл бұрын
Archangel17 because that is not a one car journey in BMW 330 just hundreds of heavy and slow vehicles with thousends of troops...and drivers need to make stops to have breaks... after 8 hours of driving... to sleep and eat.... and to not kill someone on the road in accident.

the NATO members who are former USSR or under Warsaw Pact si using AK(7.62) while the other NATO soldiers uses the 5.56 caliber rifle. will there be no problem of logistics especially on rifle ammo?
@GordonSeal5 жыл бұрын
Good question, I would guess they will eventually upgrade to western / NATO weapons, e.g. Heckler & Koch. Until then they will likely use up what they have in reserve.

E. G. Wolf all NATO countries are using 5,56mm (5,56x45) and 7,62mm (7,62x51) in joint operations aboard... but for training purposesRomanian soldiers used older weapon to save some money. They have very big stocks of ammo from Warsaw pact times. Polish soldiers are using 5,56mm kbk Beryl and 7,62mm NATO UKM 2000 gpmg and 9mm ( 9x19 Parabellum) PM-98 Glauberyt submachine guns as PDW for armored vehicles crews.
@scottpascal30995 жыл бұрын
@zepter00 I doubt Romania saves money, they already got Patriot missile system and arround 48 F-16's to come and about 300 Leopard 2 A6 and much more... take a look: imgur.com/ETkD7nl I also heard they will build for the Army 3 submarines but is in talks now.
