I actually think, you could really teach a hole lot about jazz. You really are the person that gets the closest in virtuosic playing like Tatum was, in my opinion. So many great runs, different accompinaments with stride, counter- melodies, walking-Bass and a while lot more! I actually are very sure, people would like to learn from you. I appreciate your time and effort you put into your piano and jazz - you're grooving soo hard, it's really great. Thanks for uploading!! Have a nice and healthy time :)

I can't believe you're back! I subscribed just on the scant chance that you might return, and I'm so glad I did! I hope there are many more videos to come. Your previous videos, particularly the swing bass and two-fingered run videos, have helped me so much as a (very) amateur hobbyist. If you ever do decided to go through with piano lessons online, just let me know. I would be ecstatic to learn from you. I tried taking piano lessons before, but it didn't go far with 90% of piano teachers being classical based. The few jazz pianists around are all into the "modern" style and don't know much about the old ways.

Sir, I'm so glad you are back! I have been waiting for about 10 years to see your new video. You are one of my greatest inspirations for solo jazz piano playing and watched your old videos countless times to learn some of your techniques. Thank you for coming back, stay safe! Many greetings and respect, Zoltan

What in the hell. I started piano tuning on the 7th september 2020. Got really into jazz in 2019 and have been learning loads of stuff and watched this mans video on art Tatum runs (probably about a couple weeks ago) and then realised he hadn’t uploaded for 7 years and was disappointed. Low and behold another upload two weeks later after a 7 year hiatus!!!!

All of your videos have been a priceless resource to me all these years. I still reference them, especially your instructional videos. It's so great to hear a new recording of you playing :)

@@rkjp56 no, truly, it is astonishing. I wish you would document your marvelous playing - regularly. It’s so imaginative... you’ve assimilated so much of Art’s style, it’s amazing! Have you considered recording some things for a CD to sell? I’d buy it... You can self-release on-demand printed CDs with trepstar (at no cost), for instance...

Way to end 2020 on a good note!!! 😁 Christmas came early this year. So good to see you playing again Roger. You are one of the flagbearers of the style, whether you know it or not. There's so many videos on KZbin of people who "learned a Tatum piece" and then there's those that speak that language *fluently* and with style ;) So glad to see you still have THAT piano too! You really make it sing. You haven't lost a thing, and I dare say your technique looks even more efficient than it did ten years ago 😂 I could go on, but for now I think I speak for all of us when I say welcome back, and please keep doing what you're doing! 😁

Amazing! You are clearly still on your game after that time. You swing hard and have a great sense of time. You should look into getting a tripod with an arm (amazon for about $90) so you can take a video from above. It would be great for people like me who's get a lot from studying your fingerings. Check out Kent Hewitt's videos, he's got the perspective I'm talking about. Real easy to see.

@TheMICMusicInspirationChannel3 жыл бұрын
I just discovered your channel. If you like tuning pianos, that's great, but it's downright criminal that someone who plays as well as you do would _need_ to tune pianos to make ends meet.
