43:10-43:25 A lot of people don't know this, but it was Stalin not Hitler who violated the Nazi-Soviet Pact first when he grabbed the Romanian territory of Northern Bukovina in the summer or fall of 1940. That was never agreed to in the Nazi-Soviet Pact; there was no secret protocol of that pact for Soviet Russia to annex territory that never belonged to her in the first place. Bukovina never even belonged to the czarist Russian Empire. Stalin was busily reclaiming territory Russia had lost after World War I; eastern Poland; bits and pieces of Finland (it's a wonder he didn't annex the whole of Finland and make it part of Russia as Czar Alexander I did in 1809); the Baltic States; and the Romanian province of Bessarabia; but not Bukovina. This however, does not justify Hitler's invasion of the Soviet Union and the cruel treatment that was meted upon upon it's people by his bloody hands.

Meisner portrayed Hitler a lot more accurately than the other guy, but Bruno Ganz was the most convincing.

I think Günter Meisner, although a bit stiff at times, was a much better and sinister Hitler than his successor to the role, Steven Berkoff, in War and Remembrance. The latter was playing it as a mere caricature, a yelling buffoon.
@bradanklauer89263 жыл бұрын
In War and Remembrance, Hitler was cartoonish, but I could understand what he was saying better, not just the subtitles, but also Berkhoff spoke a bit slower and more clearly. Neither however can match Bruno Ganz's portrayal of Hitler. Though I think Keitel, Halder, and Goering were done better in War and Remembrance partly due to the fact I made the bad mistake of watching War and Remembrance first!😡

So many mistakes so soon. To say that Hitler was anouncing 5 months in advance of the polish campaign is just laughable. Do we just omit the zillions of peace attempts before the war? Including the last for a small corridor to Danzig and the city being German in name only? I can only assume the race of certain responsible for this abortion of history. I would suggest it was the same who funded “the focus” which propagandized the Brit’s into the war to their own peril. There had never been such a destruction of an empire as Britain upon “winning” the ww2. History proves me correct and the movie entirely a propaganda of hilarious proportions
@tommyhemlock7915Ай бұрын
You don’t announce a military campaign at the last minute. He announced the campaign to his General Staff 5 months before he wanted to launch it in reality to give them time to prepare a plan. As for the “zillions” of peace proposals, they can still be discussed whilst war preparations are taking place; just look at Barbarossa and Pearl Harbour. As for the “destruction” of empire, it was starting to break up in the 1930’s, long before the war started. Home rule for India was discussed and agreed upon during that period. It would have happened anyway but just taken longer. The war was the catalyst that made it happen sooner.
