When I toured with Marty, we got the chance to meet Jason. He and Marty hadn’t seen each other in 13 years at that point. It was in San Francisco at the Great American Music Hall. I haven’t been nervous about playing since my high school talent show but that day Jason rolled in and was in front of my side of the stage and I was pretty shook. Meeting the two of them and Gary, Jason’s father and also his mother. That was probably the most amazing experience I’ve had in my whole life. I don’t think either of them knew the real impact they had on so much of us, I play because of Sabbath, but I play better, because of Cacophony.

I'm sure many people on this page would appreciate the short run Jason Becker had. A prodigy talent. In high school jasons playing black star with guitar behind between his legs attempting sweep. What I'm saying is Jason was able to play anything at his age, at that time. Must've been a blast waking up everyday, knowing you can play anything on guitar, in highschool. That's power in the 80s. At the stone club Jason plays yo yo at same time. (probably on this video) He's playing 6 string sweeps natural like it's nothing. Thirty five years ago Jason plays sweeps like polyphia plays '40 ounce'. Polyphia said Jason Becker is the only guitarist from the 80s who doesn't sound from the eighties. Perpetual burn shreds Marty Friedman dragons kiss. I bought both cassettes the same day in 1988. Perpetual burn was alien, dusted guitarist from 80s. Nobody knew jason beckar. I remember guy at at work said Jason beckar sounded the same like Yngyang malmstein shit. Typical Stupid! I never heard of Shawn Lane until Buckethead mentioned him in 2005. I'm sure I seen him on shrapnel records back in eighties. I think guitar player magazine fucked up, somebody not promoting Shawn Lane during 70s early 80s? Shawn must've been astronomical light years over black oak Arkansas audiance as teenager. Somebody should've caught on. Shawn lanes playing. People just don't get it. Same with Hendrix and Buckethead people didnt get it. (I was at uli jon Roth show outside drinking and talking to small town dude with cowboy hat and it was cool until I mentioned Buckethead," The guy said who listens guitar player with bucket on his head. Id heard enough shit about Buckethead online i was sick of it! I said, red necks don't listen to Buckethead. They listen to slash. Nobody plays like Buckethead and you brag about David Gilmore. (I love David Gilmore but saying David Gilmore plays with more feel is backwards wrong, anyone who says that probably can't play pink Floyd' David Gilmores stuff. (Raise my rent)is like sleeping, iron maiden ripped off (strange world.). That dude almost came to blows, my brother walked out Wtf!) . Trend. I said this dude, trend fag! I made it clear, I was so fed up with all negative shit on Buckethead. Dude was tripping. I was probably the one he could relate hang with. I'm easy. I turned bipolar because he saying shit that I heard over and over about Buckethead. Nobody plays beautiful in way Buckethead does. Except ichika and ichika wasn't on KZbin yet. .2008 or 2009. No guitar player does that for me like Buckethead. I'm like You listen to Hendrix Michale shenkar and uli jon Roth, but you don't listen to Buckethead!?? Fuck you! Totally Lost me They finally come around 10 years later., Serious" oh you get it now Really? I say lame

I was literally born 26 days later from the namm footage.. but I discovered Jason when I was in highschool in the early 00s. My grandfather passed away from ALS, same disease Jason has. I absolutely hate that disease and it always seems to stricken people who have amazing talent and physical strength. Like my grandpa and Jason. It's awesome to see that jason doesn't let the disease hold him back and still composes music. The disease might take away your body, but It'll never take away your mind.

Marty said that he never palm mutes strings unless he's playing rhythm guitar. He explained that he holds his picking hand that way to make sure that only his pick ever touches the strings. But I get anxiety watching him pick that way and I'm very grateful that I love some palm muting during lead work and that I don't have to hold my picking hand that same awkward way!

God Bless Jason and Marty , what a wonderful creation of a band by 2 of the most phenominal talents of All Time. Their albums were Not given very much publicity due to the nature of Shrapnel records limited budget compared to other major recording labels. This was and is one of the best bands that David Lee Roth had a hand in derailing just before these guys had a chance to start. With a little more time together and another album or two under their belts this bands contribution to music history would have been Legendary I'm convinced and the early lack of publicity would have taken rise to Worldwide Fame and Critical Acclaim but we will always be forever grateful for the hard work and dedication in the music they amazed and inspired us with as they entertained . People well into the future will be discovering and Loving Cacophony and the incredible Genius talents of these 2 great musicians. Thanks again Jason and Marty you guys are Awesome!

In that first clip of them playing that amp to the far left reminded me of my old amp that I absolutely loved! It was 1980s RG-80 Randall Combo Solid State....you could make any guitar sound great with that thing. I used to crank it outback of my house and I had neighbor friends down the street who said they could hear it lol wish I still had that amp, now I've been stuck with a cheap tiny shoebox size amp that has absolutely no gain/distortion and no reverb so I mainly just play my guitars unplugged. I have a bigger/ nicer amp that has built in effects but my daughter broke the input jack when she was little and I need to get it repaired but no guitar shops around me now, used to have Hot Lick's guitar shop but they closed.
