Does Touma have an AIM field? I know other level zeros do, but Touma is an outlier in many respects. I can't remember Touma having even having shown an AIM field. For all we know, turning Touma into an esper failed (because of Imagine Breaker). In that respect, Touma may not even truly be a level zero because he was never actually an esper.

Fun fact not mentioned: Kamachi once said that Awaki in her "Perfect Mode" (presumably meaning if she were to have reached her full potential becoming Level 5) might be able to do something similar to the Almighty Thor ability. That is to say, she might be able to do something as overpowered as always automatically teleporting herself into the location that will allow her to defeat the target (without having to consciously identify where that is). The original version of the Almighty Thor ability is said to be such that not even Accelerator could defeat the user.

In many cases, level 5 espers are not there for their level of power, but the wide spectre of possibilities they can use. Anytime a high level esper loses to a low level esper or even a non esper(besides of Touma i guess) is because they were reckless or had their own options limited by the situation. I still didn't read ITEM novel, but probably Mugino has plenty uses for the Meltdowner ability besides of firing laser beams and shielding. Otherwise she should be a level 4 with a powerful attack.

she does have the ability to do genetic engineering ( which is a project she took part in call project angelica) and can indirectly use other electro master powers eg she has used her power to increase her physical ability by simulating her muscles also the study of how she makes particles behave was something they wanted to study

I love level quasi-level 5s! They are all unorthodox. I gained new love for Maidono and Beginning Child not only in their respective stories, but also through fanfics (more precisely, Painted Prison Chronicles). They both have such a cool canon moments, if they animate them, it will be jaw-dropping.

The talk about Takitsubo's Aim Stalker possibly evolving into AIM field manipulation actually has me thinking about the current level 5s. Hypothetically, if each of the current level 5s were to reach level 6, would they have new abilities evolved from their old ones? Off the top of my head, would Misaka's electromaster abilities evolve into her being able to manipulate reality down to the atom, Dr. Manhattan style? Would Accelerator's vector manipulation eventually extend to some truly abstract vectors like time or destiny? I think its kinda interesting to think about, since its not just thinking about a god-like ability but a god-like ability based off a previous ability.

I made my own set of level 5 espers and put them into a ranking that makes sense with the original 7. I have 13 in total now including the other 7 level 5s in the series. Curious if anyone else has made their own level 5 as well

@@antonycharlier3721 Essentially one who controls gravity, one who can stop time in a localized area, one who controls sound waves (can create shockwaves among other things), one who controls light waves (reflections of light), one who has cellular control of his body (kinda how I wouldve viewed Junko if she could achieve level 5), One who can ignite fire and freeze the air (split personality disorder dictates which is used). Kinda simplified, I tried giving them powers in which accelerator should be able to do or at least manipulate to some degree. Each one also has a unique personality or trait as well.

There is another candidate that may shock people.... ..... Kamijou Touma: In NT22R after Touma loses Imagine Breaker and his right hand, a new right sky-blue arm grows in its place. This new arm gives Touma the power to turn into a Dragon, what's funny about this power is Touma has no backlash when using it which means it can't be magic as it would have harmed Touma otherwise, the novel also seems to hint its Touma's ability even using the same kanji for ability/esper power. In NT21 there is talk of a #0 Level 5, to add more to the spooky stuff Kamijou Touma is nicknamed the wandering #0 in NT22R. lastly much like what happened to Kakine and Beetle 05 in NT5-NT6, a 2nd Kamijou Touma called Kamijou No Touma shows up in NT22R, rather than a beetle like Beetle 05 this Touma was a Dragon. There is zero proof this power is even an Esper power but its fun to speculate a possible plot twist.

I think his esper power is more of a "wishing" power. Like you mentioned KNT did say he was Touma's ability and Touma did wish for someone who knew how to use IB which sparked out KNT. There's also a theory that Touma's esper ability is the system of God himself, making him able to use every power that he has negated with IB.

Hi there Aeon and Pierro. How are you doing? Wow, I've only heard of maybe 2 or 3 of those candidates, so I'm looking forward to seeing and meeting the others. Thanks for another informative and creative vide. Also, I have an update for you too. I am about 35% into it, and have just reached Interlude 4. Wow, just wow. I think I'm going to nickname this volume the healing, the magic shock and the epic chase volume. The reactions of both Accelerator and Hamazura to the fact that such a thing as magic exists was pretty funny to say the least. Also, Aqua of the Back and Vento of the front have successfully surprised me. I did not think that both of them were going to come to world war 3 Russia. Do any of them interact with Tama or Hamazura at any other time in the series? I guess it's really surprising me that Aqua the back would first be coming after Touma's life and then now looks like he's fighting by a side and he also was able to think on the same wavelength this Touma for a while. I'm just looking forward to figuring out how they stand with one another it look like there is potential there. It looks like William Orwell has or is a lot stronger than the night leader. I say this because aqua and Vento have stated playing simply that they don't like how Fiamma of the right does things and so they want to go against him but the night leader even though he didn't like what Carissa or the second princess was doing he couldn't go against her I just think it's interesting. Also Lesser is making me sick. Why was she chosen and not Itsuwa,? She is making Touma feel so uncomfortable and she makes him look like a fool, which sucks. Anyway I'm really loving this volume and I admit that I don't want this for serious to end.

Index is such a good series that I'm a little afraid I'm going to go through reading slump after I get done with Old Testament. The only other series light novel wise that I have on my TBR is the full metal panic series, which has been really good as well. Other than that I have some other fantasy audiobook series that I'm going to be working on in the meantime.

Close but not quite, Banka thought his own power was strong enough for Level 5 until Kakine showed him he was outmatched off screen. Banka's power was also no match for Mugino, as she overpowered him with ease and killed him instantly. As far as we know, Banka wasn't designated as a candidate for Level 5, and from his encounters vs Level 5s he likely never was, just that he had an ego.

Agreed with Tokitsubu Rikou here ability as level 4 is not really that OP or important but at level 5 she is freaking OP since she can control AIM Field she can control esper supernatural abilities, for example forcing a level increase or decrease on a target or worst taking that very ability making a high level into a level 0 or turn a level 0 into a level 5, But i doubt she can affect a level 5 starting from 4th rank above because they have natural AIM field barriers (For example when 5th rank Mental Out try to Control 3rd rank Railgun, its being block by her electric field that act as a barrier and considering that Melt Downer is rank 4th 1 rank higher than Mental out also means Melt Downer has also a natural resistance to Mental out but when the old geezer scientist use exterior to gain level 5 mental out ability even if he is a level 0 he easily take control of Mental Out without any resistance which mean rank 5th have zero resistance over AIM field and this also means that both rank 6th and 7th are also the same since they are lower rank the 5th rank Mental Out). Also the current only candidate for level 6 shift are rank 1 and rank 2 since anyone below rank 3 will die after achieving level 6 plus the lower the rank the more impossible for the other to even reach level 6. For example Misaka only achieve level 6 because she have clones and all have their own AIM Field Network the scientist manipulated the Misaka network and redirect all AIM field into Railgun acting as a receiver as a result she reach level 6 "Angel Mode" but since she is not either rank1 or rank 2 she will die after few minutes of reaching level 6 and has totally no control over her powers. Tokitsubu Alone can't beat anyone who rank 4th above (alone) also even if she become the newest 8th level 5 it doesn't mean she will be rank as #8 since she is superior over rank 5th and below she will surely take over their spot but that's only considering individual strength, Her ability is more compatible in a team so if Tokitsubo is a level 5 and created more level 5 and fought rank 2nd - 4th then there's a very very high chance of her beating them since she gave her allies or pawn abilities that can counter the 2nd rank down to 4th rank and boost them into level 5, That's why she is very valuable even during the hunt in season 3 they ignored accelerator and prioritize recovering Tokitsubu Rikou. Also since she Manipulate AIM field its just a theory but im sure its possible that she can create Artificial Angels the same as Hyouka or even Control Hyouka herself that alone is enough to make her the strongest, yeah stronger than accelerator since Angel Class or Level 6 are stronger than Accelerator. But the problem is academy City did not expect for Accelerator to reach Level 6 on his own "when he combined magic with his espser ability" so rank1 still as valuable as Tokitsubu since he is the only esper who can use both magic and esper ability (excluding the spy who have a level 1 ability and originally is a mage).

They are impressive, but majority of time they are also arrogant. Most of low level feats that surpasses some level 5 are more about they being negligent or not prepared for something, but when they fight for something they believe in, and are conscious of the danger, their feats are insuperable. There is a reason why these level 4 at their full potential are seen like almost level 5 and not much more than that.

Like the other guy had said , they are impressive , but the thing is that there is an utility and political reason for some of the rankings. Those Quasi-Level 5 have the same output of one...under specific conditions or in a costly manner. While the current Level 5 had their by-products been used as scientific developments , with their output preserved with low conditions or costs.

I think this meant that telekinesis doesn't really have much of a place in Aleister's plan since tbf it is a very common ability. Misaka's ability isn't really all that special too but she was still useful in the plan because of her clones. Accelerator is self-explanatory. #2 and #4 are basically second plans. Each level 5 has a role to play for Aleister's sake.

@@AeonofHorus i mean its not lvl5 are invincible misaki, gunha, misaka and accelator, struggled against some unkowns while on the magic side they just beat them. i dont know if accleator changed that rule about lvl5, but espers are strong and there are lots of lvl4 in my opinion that could compete with lvl5. i think kwaki and kuroko could also become lvl5. i think all lvl5 could potentailly reach lvl 6. accleator, kakine, misaka has wings mode. it seems when they have hard fights lvl5 evovles.

I have to ask, I’m regards to level status in Academy City when it comes to Level status are there any other series that could be applied into the city’s guidelines for that. Like with all the crossovers that Toaru has what about the series that aren’t all magic but have some science depth to it? Could crossover series even be evaluated with A.C’s level status quo?
