The endpoint of lvl 6 shift is to 'control' a total paradigm alteration that a lvl 6 could unleash. Essentially, any esper reaching lvl 6 gains ABSOLUTE control over whatever aspect thier power is based in to such an extent that they can then manipulate the very function of the universe itself. If Mikasa or Accel got there, it'd essentially be like being able to move every electromagnetic particle in the entire universe to your will with no limits. A scary concept.

Is beyond that dude. Once you start ascending the Lv6 climb, the nature of your own power starts to matter less and less. You get abilities your "base power" didn't had, like the ability to materialize dark matter, which wasn't the power of Accelerator and Misaka for example. In case of Uiharu, he materialized her ability and knowledge from tech an computers, and "redefined the world" around her to be subjected to her principles and "law", which wasn't her esper power at all (same was done by Accelerator, although in base mode, during his fight with Kakine, redefining the world to englobe Dark Matter as part of it). I have a theory which says, once you reach the Lv.6, the level of God, you also become a Dual Skill, but one which uses all the powers. Since you basically aren't human anymore, you get access to, infinite knowledge, infinite output and infinite processing power units given by your "halo" and "wings". Dual Skill of all powers in such circumstances shouldn't be a problem, and would be the proof you are really an artificial "god". Similar thoughts were said by Fiamma, saying "infinite power needs infinite knowledge to control it, and a proper "output terminal" to manifest it.

4:35 My personal explanation for the way Accelerators shift project worked, is that, Accelerator is so powerful that he actually already has an ability strong enough to be considered level 6, He just doesn't know everything he's capable of doing with it yet. I think the entire point of the project was to create combat scenarios for Accelerator to learn new uses for his ability. It's stated that Misaka was once a level 1, and she trained with her ability for years to reach level 5, why should it be impossible to go beyond that? I think that it's theoretically possible for everyone to reach level 6, it's just that 99% of people wouldn't be able to reach it in their lifespans because the difference between it and level 5 is so large, however, Accelerators already at the top, he's just that much closer then everyone else to it, I think he would gain the ability to become level 6 naturally over time, if he had enough of it in his lifespan, I think they mentioned something along the lines of it taking 250 years regularly? I think what happened is that Tree diagram, taking into account Accelerators ability and possibly his brainwaves to understand how quickly he learns things, Tree diagram discovered that it would take 20,000 clones for Accelerator to gain enough combat experience, and knowledge of new things he could do with his ability, for him to be considered a level 6, Basically what they were doing was taking the standard training to upgrade people's abilities, and putting it on the afterburner with the clones, I think Accelerator very much has the potential to already be considered a level 6, that is if he can figure out 250 years worth of different ways to use his ability.

My opinion is that the project to kill 10,000 clones works for accelerator specifically is because it would make him more unhinged. His ability is absolutely broken in terms of science physics as everything essentially has vectors. Do note his ability is limited by calculations. As he could only manipulate dark matter when he changes the formula to account new variables. Thus if he were to reach a sort of enlightenment where he has understanding of everything like both magic and science and the divine and then enters these variables in to formulas in his head, he would be close to god as he would be able to manipulate literally everything.

I think the reality is that… due to the network existing, misaka will eventually scale up to level 6 in time regardless. Unfortunately there isn’t currently the knowledge in the network to keep that power under control unless accelerator provides it. In essence, he has to somehow reach 6 before mikasa does and why he retains a special link to the network is likely due to this necessity. Accelerator can choose to go no further if he’d like, but Allister’s establishment of the network has doomed Misaka to eventually reaching it. And all the Misaka’s through out the world will become a means of channelling her power everywhere in the world when that finally happens, hopefully in a controllable way, but also just as likely a potential doomsday weapon in the making. She’s like a ticking time bomb while the EIM fields slowly saturate, and she doesn’t even know it…. unless Toma lol…

Well given what L5.3 was for rail gun, L6 may have connected said esper to the fundamental workings of the universe. For rail gun for example if were to simplify her power it is magnetism/electromagnetism. So if she did manage to make it to L6 she may have been able to comprehend and manipulate the world in a deeper manner like magic mybe even creating something akin to the forces that would generate a sun

Not like the way she does already but in a way where she can comprehend/interact with every atom like she would when handling her pocket change, phone or turning a doorknob. And if we were to look at her form on 5.3 we can think of it like a cocoon prepping her body for L6. But because she was leveling up so quickly I think she may have exploded from the evolution/gaining power to fast.

I think the goal of level 6 is to become something similar to a secret chief, not a magic God. Assuming all phases (or at least all the esper's personal reality, which are basically phases) work like the christhian phase, power over the phase is split between a secret chief, who presumably has a will of his own, and angels, which have a different kind of magic and serve as tools with no mind of their own. If we look at misaka's shift, arguably the closest to reaching completion, she has no control over her acrions abd her body resembles an angel when she hasn't yet reached level 6. I think this "angel stage" is a required step to reaching the state of godhood especially if you follow the Sephiroth: the esper goes through the stages of the tree, becoming an angel and losing their mind until they cross the abyss and reach level 6. This explanation makes sense with both the existence of secret chiefs (the closest thing to actual gods) and the many times the series has compared level 6 espers to angels

Since Aiwass is said to be a being from a realm _closest_ to the Pure World, I have a feeling that the Pure World belongs to the Aeon of Ma'at which comes after Horus, it sort of fits the bill as well cause it is a world of science completely devoid of any form of religion, Ma'at herself represents truth, balance, order, harmony, justice and law which also fits the description of the Pure World, so it pretty much means that humanity would become some sort of a god level civilization similar to Isaac Asimov's Foundation or the First Hytoth from the Scp Foundation

At least in Index, Science vs Magic seems to be an hoax created by Aleister to create both sides. In Pure World doesn't exist Science (at least how we know it) or Magic. Both are just one side of the same coin. Science studies numbers by their value, direction and magnitude. Magic studies their properties and attributes. Using only one side gives you incomplete answers. You have to use both to get the true answer. Accelerator, Issac, Coronzon, Aleister... All them using both sides at some time prove to improve faster and find the cracks on the enemies.

For me the closest one to get to level 6 has to be hirumi/Isaac so what I think is it was not just magic but magic+science as you know that hishigata experiment on aspers to level up their powers but the bigger the machine of the host gets their minds get diluted losing self sense. I don't know where he got his knowledge from or is even authentic what he's saying but seems very authentic as he have better equipments than those scientist of academy city, those scientist of academy city couldn't even stop misaka but hishigata not just stopped Accelerator for sometime but also over smart him. That tells me his goal was better approach and was authentic what was he saying. He told her sister it would be possible to make level 6s after 2 years as the technology would be so advance and the hosts minds won't get diluted but her sister suicide cuz she didn't have that much and force his brother to make her level 6. So here he used magical approach with Esther finally making a body that how much the size the minds won't get diluted hence making Isaac/hirumi nearly to level 6 probably way better than any other level 6 shift cuz even accelerator couldn't do anything to that monstrosity alone he needed Esther on his side at least 5 people it took to defeat Isaac/hirumi who wasn't even level 6 yet. Isaac also got immortality as he can Regenerate as much he wanted, one of the properties of level

As the dark matter network is multiple dark matter creations connected through AIM field and Kakine's abilities is more suited for a stable level 6 as opposed to misaka.

I'm not sure considering NT Kakine was already linked to his network while Misaka wasn't linked to the sisters until Gensei came along. Maybe if he grew it large enough to rival the clones? Although considering Kakine is the spare plan and can reach Level 6 like Accelerator, there is probably a way for him to do so that exists, and that might be his own network.

I think he's considered level 6 because he's able to access his full power while brain damaged. He also now knows magic and has successfully performed it once. Which was thought to be impossible do to the two forces of psychics and magic being to different( as well as ether killing the caster/user or some other unpredictable outcome). And now that he's used magic the 1 time he can comprehend magic enough to start fiddling with it

How i undestand the espers and magicians is like this: Magic and Epser Powers are the same thing but have different conduits. A good analogy would be Sorcerers and Wizards from DnD. Wizards have greater understanding of their spells and can cast more diverse spells because they know what magic is and what makes magic tick while sorcerers(espers) have inate magical power and have greater control over them but do not exactly know how magic works. In this case espers are still magicians just unable to cast normal spells due to the drugs.

If the currently known level 5's became level sixes, it'd be probably like this: Accelerator can now control vectors to it's full potential, knowing every possible combinations, uses, and techniques. He may even control matter that is unknown to man such as Kakine's dark matter. Kakine can produce much more dark matter and the force of it can pretty much weigh as heavy as a planet. He can also produce more unkown substances to man, which has no name ofcourse because. Misaka already has one but she can control her electromagenetism much greater than before, and can use it longer. She can also control and bring huge forces of electricity raining down the sky and destroy civilizations in matter of seconds. Not saying that others can't do that even with or without level six anyways. And her railgun move can probably be much faster than the speed of light no matter how heavy it is. And the range of her ability is pretty much enlarged to the point that if she wanted she can create much more iron sand megatrons. Mugino's level meltdowner is pretty similar to Misaka's electricity, just in laser form. Meltdowner as the name suggests, can melt down anything. So if she were to reach level 6, her meltdowner can leave huge radiations, and quite possibly cause a nuclear explosion because of an upgrade. She can control more lasers to, to sum up, she's basically a nuke but in laser form. Shokuho in the scenario of level 6, can probably do possesion, telepathy, memory erasing (From birth and present), Memory altering. She can already do all of those just by being level 5, but the number of people she can do it on is quite less without the machine. By being level 6, she can do that to a whole continent. We already saw a glimpse of an uncomplete level 6, misaka wasn't even level 6 that time yet she could wipe academy city in a flash (probably). Shokuho isn't a combat ability, more like utility so it'll just be upgraded so much, and she can probably bypass the barriers Misaka has if she becomes level 6. Aihana's ability is to "give others power and make them into their ideal self" so which means in the scenario she/he becomes level 6, they can basically create the perfect being, maybe even much greater than the level 5's turned level 6. One that surpasses the heavens. Sogita's ability is becoming a much more stronger and sturdier human being. In the scenario of level 6, he can be practically invincible and become One Punch Man with hair. If anyone has better ideas/scenarios for Mugino and Kakine type down since I'm not too familiar on how their ability works at all.

Hello Aeon. I wonder if touma with all dragons active would be considered a level 6 due to their power and versatility? I wonder when the time comes that Touma will gain control or reach an understanding with those dragons will he be able to use long range elemental attacks or debuffs like terror? I can see Touma using these dragon powers in special circumstances. For example he could use the black dragon’s terror/fear infliction to stop someone from using a powerful spell or ability that requires concentration and that Touma is too far away to negate it. Or he could use the lightning dragon to do a dual railgun style attack alongside Misaka, with her guidance of course. Also Aeon following up from my previous comment, I thought up of some nicknames that Touma could give his dragons, assuming they do not already have names which I will assume they do. I only thought up of 4 names so far: Lightning Dragon: Raitanon. Altered name for Raiton which means lightning in Japanese and the dragon is a yellow/golden tan color. I can see Touma using this dragon alongside Mikoto. Green dragon: Yumenya. It has dream manipulative powers and yume is Japanese for dream. This dragon does its best to give Touma good dreams while he sleeps as a way for him to cope with misfortune and PTSD. Black dragon: Blackout. Touma did state multiple times he would like to learn English. So what better way to pay homage to this by him naming this dragon Blackout. Also Blackout sounds like a badass nickname. White dragon: Glacius. Pronounced Glassius. Touma would probably use this dragon for defense only or freezing the ground around him to make it slippery making it more difficult for opponents to get near him. I cannot see Touma using the other dragons based on the fact their powers are too dangerous from what was stated on the railgun manga editor’s descriptions. The red dragon’s soul destroying flames are an obvious no go for example. The first dragon or dragon king would also be too dangerous as it’s bite can destroy the victim’s memory. Also if the dragons were to ever jump ship from Touma, who do you think they would attach to? I can picture the golden dragon easily jumping to Misaka due to their similar electrical affinity. Sorry for the long post Aeon and I want to hear as many responses from people as possible as I am planning to write a story where the dragons are moved by Touma’s determination when ‘’fighting’’ Othinus and try to help Touma learn and get stronger. @CK Lim I like your idea that the dragons could be Touma’s personal reality, or his stand: Imagine Dragons. *LOL*. All jokes and references aside, there is one thing wrong about your idea that Touma believes he only has bad luck. He really only has misfortune as his father Touya explains in the Angel Fall light novel. There is no belief or expectation tied to his misfortune, it just exists as a side effect to his imagine breaker. I have 2 theories currently on what the Imagine Dragons could be. So I’ll list them from most likely to least likely based on what we know: 1. They are a pure concept of power and change that the magic gods left behind when creating the infinite phases at near the beginning of the ToAru Universe. The leftover power coalesced together into various concepts that can take many forms such as dragons that were then restrained by imagine breaker to keep them in check. They together are an embodiment of chaos. 2. They are Touma’s actual esper ability/personal reality and the dragons represent various aspects of Touma himself. This idea was used in the fanfic ‘Library of Consumed Gods.’ This may explain how the Dragon King head could soundly defeat Izzard or how the invisible thing lost to Othinus in Baggage City as Touma did not believe he was powerful enough to defeat Othinus and so Imagine Dragons/Invsible thing responded to that thought by losing to her. This does not explain though how Touma can use so many different powers as the dragons have their own specific powers unless Touma is some overpowered gemstone that is stronger than Gunha then I have no idea. With having to cut off imagine breaker to release them and the dragons having the ability to consume AIM energy it’s high unlikely that this is an esper power/ personal reality. I do like this idea, really I do but the evidence that is mentioned so far throws this second theory out. I personally like the idea where Touma finally in a very brief moment of weakness breaks down and starts to vent. He yells and screams at the dragons that he does not want them around as he is sick of his misfortune potentially leading to so many deaths as of the most recent genesis testament volume. Of course Touma realizes what he had said and tries to apologize but the dragons leave him as they were genuinely hurt by this admission. The dragons then choose compatible espers’ personal realities to attach and feed off. Touma has to then go around, find each one, and reclaim them again. Mikoto bonds to Raitanon the lightning dragon. Shokuhou bonds to Yumeya the dream manipulation dragon etc. The dragon names are names I thought up of. What do you think?

@CK Lim So what you are implying is that every time Touma uses his imagine breaker and negates an attack, he is feeding his dragons and his AIM field being constantly negated is also feeding his dragons and therefore making them and the invisible thing or other supernatural aspects that exist in his arm stronger over time. Also you are implying the individual dragons may feed on specific supernatrual phenomenon like for example when Touma negates one of Misaka's lightning bolts, he is feeding the spearheaded dragon that can generate lightning. the dragons that have authority over mental attacks feed on mind manipulation supernatural attacks negated by Touma like Shokuhou's Mental Out? For me the closest one to get to level 6 has to be hirumi/Isaac so what I think is it was not just magic but magic+science as you know that hishigata experiment on aspers to level up their powers but the bigger the machine of the host gets their minds get diluted losing self sense. @@retrogamingfrenzy2373 the closest esper to reach level 6 will and always be accel and that's a fact its been stated numerous times throughout the series (main story and side stories), so much so even aleister said it was possible for accel to go even beyond the area of level 6. Hishigata used magic in his research that's why his project looked more technologically advanced but when it comes to the scientific field both projects were about the same technologically. He got his knowledge from Esther and it isn't authentic he would end up creating a failure version what seems to be a level 6 and that's an understatement. Hishigata saying he would be able to create level 6 in 2 years is a baseless assumption which most likely would've failed anyways. Also the reason why the level 6 shift project couldn't stop mikoto was because they didn't have anything to combat her since they're only just a research organisation. Whereas hishigata had 3 level 5 machines which were further enhanced and even then they still couldn't stop accel, only then did hirumi come up with an idea to slow him down not stop him - remember it was hirumi's idea not hishigata. And no they didn't out smart accel one bit. Accelerator couldn't obtain level 6 was because he was doing it the conventional way which some geeks thought it would be possible without actuay knowing anything. Also hishigata way of level 6 was an utter failure the moment he included magic. On top of that it wasn't a 5 v 1. Hishigata was bleeding to death, 10046 was basically a bystander until the end, accel was pretty much brain dead so he just sat on the sidelines, the only ones who were facing off against isaac was Esther and haoto who provided very little supported anyways. If the story went differently they couldve made hirumi become an actual level 6 and naturally accel will be able to become a level 6 or go even beyond that.

Interesting concepts all around especially when considering it in a comparison to my setting which took inspiration from toaru(specifically I used a lot of the Same symbolism as inspiration such as the tree) my setting also has something similar to the clear world and phases but unlike toaru it hasn't been overwritten it's just so far into the past that it doesn't exist (the entirety of my setting has died and recursed countless times since then(thanks to my settings gods final act that provided the spark of life for for my setting(he made a promise that so long as his fragments remain apart his will shall reconstruct his creation no matter what happens before he killed himself at first there were no gods but there were to natural powers that allowed people to resonate with the universe (basically a mix of the Meta gene and conduits from DC and infamous with a far more primordial magic flavour (generation one magic) countless cycles after that 2nd generation magic came on through a crack in dimensions allowing humanity to grasp Ede and impose there will upon it creating spells this lead to 2 of the 3 major fragments meeting (as it enabled crossing universes in my casual multi layer complex multiverse type setting) and there "fated crossing" lead to the creation of the first 3 higher realms being the astral plane in the 4th(bleeds into the 3rd and can occasionally be dragged down to the 3rd) dimension, the rivers of existence in the 5th which is a black void with only 2 identifiable things a river and trees (multiversal brackets of the wave function enabled to be viewed in isolation within the 5th dimension with an immeasurable and uncrossable distance between brackets without going higher the 6th and 7th dimensions are empty as an intermediary space that is used to carve a path higher, and the 8th dimension contains the ultraverse. Thats not really been explained. I assume Aleister probably discovered it existed through his own research or learnt it from Aiwass, and then passed some of this information to the Kiharas/other scientists with direct links to him. I doubt if one already existed since Gensei treats it like its never been done before, although maybe there was a Level 6-power gemstone at some point in time that existed before the level system in Academy City was even a thing.

She’s able to manipulate thermal energy - effectively raising or lowering the temperature - of whatever she’s touching, radically redistributing the temperature present or otherwise raising//lowering the total thermal energy in the object(s) in question. However, the energy she adds/removes isn't to and from thin air, instead being redistributed from around him. Retribution can heat or freeze anything she’s touching however much she wants, but whatever energy she shoves into/pulls out of that object must be redistributed from that object or be uniformly pulled from/pushed into the surrounding ambient temperature as a whole. One of descriptions of level 6 in Index is: "a body that exceeds humans and can do God's calculations", which is probably a science side term for Isaac's Perfect Golem 3. I have a theory. Kamijou Touma is the level 6. As a theory there can only be one level 6 at any given time and any level 6 can’t be challenged by another. As we have seen, Touma’s ability negates EVERY power level thrown against it including magic. And as we have seen other powers struggle against magic. So even though he is weak, touma is a level 6 because he can deny everything unnatural that is thrown against him. I came up with this theory back when he beat the most powerful esper accelerator. Then it was more or less confirmed because his power worked against magic and we watch as no other power could counter magic. Also NO other power is able to counter his power. Meaning he is the most powerful esper.

Pretty sure they are their own thing. They aren't layers of reality like phases are, just magical concepts that exist. And when Coronzon was trying to destroy everything: humanity, the pure world, the phases and the trees, she did not group the trees and the phases together as one.

The only thing that I want for Index GT is to give the science side or atleast the Seven Level 5 a power up for them to catch up from the power level of the magic side (with scientific explanation, not just random power boost) I mean magic side characters or antagonist is really over powered. Only Touma and Accelerator have the ability as of now to match the other villains in magic side. It's more entertaining if they give the other level 5 like gunha and aihana etsu more screen time. For us to feel more the science x magic theme of this series. I feel like they always give the BIG Arc focus on magic side while science side only there just to be a back up. They explain a lot about magic side in Index NT so its hard to extend another good story about them right now I feel that the last arcs of Index NT really hit the climax the villains are too OP the story are lit so maybe its better if they focus at least one big arc for the science side (a really powerful science side antagonist that the science side characters need to defeat) then magic side will also join, this time they are the one's who will help or back up the science side. Then after this they can go back to Magic side as the main series name A Certain "Magical" Index .

I'd say Level 6 is more like what you believe being Level 6 suppose to mean. The way how the scientists wanted accelerator to kill 10000 clones to achieve level 6; its more like they believed that to achieve level 6, you must kill 10000 people or more. Its a near sighted thing to believe that killing more people would make you stronger. They haven't explore other concepts of achieving level 6. Saving peoples lives, creating something out of your hands with dilligence, supporting others for their effort, bringing justice, transforming from your evil self to a more good and heroic self, or being a hero or a shining guidance to others to a better future. In short I really don't think being level 6 is achieved by killing or defeating foes. It's more about how you use your experience and abilities to help and save people, and guide them through their struggles. Or better yet, surpassing your evil, regrets, and your fears.

In the Coronzon arc The Great Demon herself says that they (Magic gods) reached only half way up the tree. As in they reached only the 4th sephira, and cant assend higher, due to the abyss of sepiroth blocking the path. Iirc correctly it was during her fight with Niang Niang but I am not sure.

" or remain bound by the "six paths of reincarnation" while an all-powerful Magic God has achieved it (and we don't even know their definition of death), and not to mention if accessed and hacked losing Qliphah he's pretty weak on the magic side (Dion Fortune, a character who once cried when he saw a Magic God but was still able to take control of Acce's Qliphah)

Nah bro, Accel does all that at level 5... and he could lol stomp the level 6's. His ability is just broken, as long as he can understand it and find its vector, it's got zero chance of touching him. Only one he has trouble with is someone who negates his vector manipulation, Touma. ( But that's plot armor, cause he could fly - avoid the dragons and just use projectiles to bludgeon Touma to death, slower characters than Accel avoided the dragons.)
