On the other hand Ollerus suggests that Gunha might be a failed Magic God like himself and could defeat him if he actually understand his abilities and considering how busted Ollerus was....

Sure, he said Gunha had the potential to surpass him if he understood his own power, but the key word here is « potential », it’s just a theory. By the same logic, Takitsubo has the potential to reach Lvl 5, and Misaka has the potential to reach Lvl 6 (even if just for a second), does that mean Takitsubo can fight current Lvl 5s in a 1v1 and that Misaka is the strongest Esper ? No, because theories doesn’t mean anything until proven right. Currently, Sogiita deserve to be ranked at the lowest place. Base Misaka already surpass him in term of versatility, Battle IQ and experience, and you can add raw power and durability if you count her powered-up forms, Mental Out is Instant-Kill for anyone who isn’t immune to it, and Aihana Etsu… well, we basically don’t know anything about him yet. Mugino ? Eh, I guess he can beat her. But from the moment she lost twice to Hamazura, I think anyone can beat Mugino.

I find it deeply interesting that Touma's Dragons seem to have most of the level 5's and some Magic users powers rolled into one The Dragon King has the same powers as Index's Dragon's Breath of destroying ones memories The Angel Dragon can turn things into salt much like what Kakine can do and also mind control someone like Misaki The Spearhead Dragon can shoot lighting from its body and fires lasers much like Mikoto's Railgun and Mugino Meltdown The Blind Dragon and The Four-eyed Dragon can blur the line between dreams and reality and overcome you with fear confusion The Corpse Flame Dragon can burn one's life force The Ice Crystal Dragon can breathe ice (I would imagine turns you into ice as well) and survived plant buster attacks. The One-eyed Cobra Dragon has the undiluted concept of poison so its bite is worst than death itself. I would not be shocked if Kamachi did pull the crack theory of Touma is really the #0 Level 5.

Wow great video, thanks for explaining the section on how they are ranked by usefulness and not particularly raw power. Speaking of raw power I always love being reminded of how busted Accelerator is now no one in the science side at this point can match him and he can even handle some of the magic side of course excluding gods, demons, Awiass whatever Anna and Alice are. (Oh, and Touma and Aleister of course). Back on topic though, I truly do wonder if they can reach even greater heights Accelerator and Kakine so far are the only ones to surpass their previous levels. Gunha is a very special case and since he got even acknowledgement from an impure magic god (Ollerus) he does have the potential to go even further for sure. It seems like out of the last 3 girls mostly Misaka is interested in increasing her strength if she can increase her power maybe through another machine like the AAA or coming into contact to the side of magic to find a similar path to power like Accelerator I'm very interested to see either way. While some of these characters in terms of winning a fight are situational I think Kamachi made a good stack of powerful Espers. One day I hope they all fight together that would be quite a fantastic scene (I know we technically got that in NT7 but If it were to happen in a bigger battle it would be even cooler IMO.)

I do think that mugino could have the potential for more versatility with her ability depending on how it's classified. because she is technically an electromaster of sorts, and the closest thing to a "particle wave canon" irl is pretty much some sort of weaponized laser. iirc she does actually hack into some sort of security camera feed in nt2 as well, though idk of that was because of her ability or her cyborg parts. but basically, assuming that meltdowner is just a weaponized laser, in theory mugino could use and manipulate non weaponized forms of lasers as well. if mugino could manipulate lasers in general by being a specialized type of, or a subset of electromaster (like junko for example), it would give her a level of versatility that could almost rival mikoto's.

In theory, she can force any given particle into a desired position and wavelength. Meaning, in theory, she can turn any object into a super-conductor, make herself almost effectively invisible and inaudible, and just generally violating the law of entropy. I currently lack the imagination to tell you how this can be applied, but in theory, it's huge. As far as I can tell, the main limitation on Mugino's ability isn't actually the recoil, but her calculation power.

But I think the interesting one is Takitsubo since her esper power the most has possibility to grade up like in the Light Novel, probably if she reach level 5 she will be able to take control another Esper's personal realities and probably she could give different esper abilities to someone else and remove it too. With just level 4 it's actually insane, she can detect Esper AIM Diffusion Field, you can't escape from her AIM Stalker, except you go to the space LMAO.

The thing about Misaka is not just that she can control electricity. It a question of what electricity is and what it can do. A thing that has not been fully explored by the manga I don't believe. She doesn't have the same powers as Mental Out, but if she were to put her mind to it she could immobilize people using her control of electricity. Not just from a shock but by controlling the synapses in her opponents brains. Or their body over all. Even going so far as to shut down their brains or bodies out right. And that's small scale. Electricity has a number of forms from small to large. And the larger it gets the stronger it gets. As we can only use feats in the canon story though I think using the power she has shown as a baseline would be helpful to discussing her powers more effectively.

Good video, I personally put Gunha over base misaka but I don't think he could defeat 6 shift Misaka, as much as that sucks to say. Buuut that was a one time powerup that was out of her control so it's not that big a deal. I agree with this but i would say gunha is overrated not interms of "enjoyment" but interms of "strength" His fans make him look like a god during battle argument. And also Misaka fans claim about her being on same level as brunhild when she struggled throughout the fight and brunhild didn't used her full power during that fight. Not only is Misaka more versatile, she’s level-headed, more strategic, and has more win-cons. kind of ironic that the only change between how they're ranked and how strong they are actually, the only difference is Sogita, moving him from 7 to 3 rank and everyone stays the same so in a way the way they're ranked in the series is close how strong they are/were actually at the same time, damn does the difference between Misaka and Meltdowner is quite massive considering they're only 1 rank appart, almost feels like Level 5 should have a Level 5 + category for Accelerator, Misaka, Sogita and Kakine

It's a nicely researched and put together video and I agree with most of your reasoning. I also appreciate the fact that you clarified the actual reason for their ranking, but I do have some disagreements. Spoilers I don't think this changes Shokuhou Misaki's placing since you said you're basing this on overall physical destructive power rather than who'd beat who in a fight (although you still referenced fights that happened in canon as a decisive factor in some cases anyway), but you should have mentioned that during GT4 she stated her mind control works on both Accelerator and Kakine but the consenquences weren't worth the effort. Also a slight correction, the limit of people she can control in her normal state is 15 only if she's completely taking them over, but the number goes into the triple digits if she's just giving them simple commands. 2. If this is a video about who's more powerful, then Mugino should definitely rank higher than Misaka especially after WW3 arc and into NT were she's shown to fight more efficiently and can now manipulate a much higher number of MD orbs. If she were to rematch Misaka, it's only fair to point out that since both can more or less nullify each other's abilities Mugino's superior fighting skills and cyborg enhancements would give her a great advantage. 3. I understand why you included them in the video but I don't think Misaka's level up experiment forms should affect her ranking at all. She can't neither access them willingly nor can she enter them without the help of the Misaka network. 4. This is more of a nitpick and you probably talk about it in another video, but should have also said Accelerator's reflection is one of the few esper abilities that have proved an effective defense against magic side spells, especially in his platinum wings state.

I'm aware of the quote, I thought it was really weird when that was stated since there are logical reasons why Accel could null it (moisture surely has vectors? and does Kakine have moisture in his Dark Matter brain?). U need to remember that even though mugino got an upgrade the one that fought misaka was still fighting a Misaka that was week, powers weren’t at full capacity, was injured and wasn’t actively trying to kill her ( she even tried to help her too as well) . We don’t know if her boost would simply put her towards a base at full health misaka . Hell mikasa barely pulled out most of her different power sets during their fihht which should have showed you why she’d rank below her. Also because misaka was week she had to constantly actively watch meltdowner etc she couldnt use her EM field which would probably work 10x better against an opponent like meltdowner due to the fact that she’s firing electrons. She didn’t pull out any iron sand, she could have straight up tore apart the entire building on them and during the chaos kill mugino with multiple different types of attacks. Not to mention Misaka would be wayyy more stronger to deflect mugino‘s powers too. And Misaka has wayy more range and movement in terms of her attacks and environmental that mugino too. Look at what misaka did in S3 of her series. She could straight up have a kaiju that could constantly regenerate, iron sand weapons, multiple railguns , lightning strikes from the sky, lightning from her hand etc all going at mugino along with her having limited telekinesis through magnetism/ electromagnetism to move and through objects at mugino. Also the iron sand thing is extremely highly underrated because that shit is so small that it could quite literally come up at you from anywhere & due to her vibrating it it basically cuts almost anything it comes in contact with. There’s simply too much misaka can do in terms of defence & offence against Meltdowner meanwhile most of what meltdowner can do to her is leaning towards only the offence. Plus if I remember correctly even mugino isn’t fully immune to her powers. A weakened misaka could quite literally at point blank block her lasers can u imagine one going all out at full strength could do to her. Misaka also has the advantage of having basically all things having to do with electricity/ electrons under her palm. That includes technology making her a basically a technopath. So misaka could even fuck with mugino's mechanical advantages. Also due to her being able to also mess with mugino's lasers the limbs that she made out of the power could fail ok her if misaka found a way to mess them up as well

Yeah I'd say in pure power, 5.3 Misaka is stronger than base Kakine, although Base Kakine has some hax (his transmutation) that might allow him to win as I say in the video. But honestly I don't see how 5.3 Misaka can beat DM Kakine, who is linked to his own network and can regen instantly indefinitely. Sogiita was trying his hardest against the black ball true, but at the same time he wasn't trying his hardest to defeat Misaka as that wasn't his objective. I feel like without the black ball, 5.3 Misaka has no way to kill Sogiita as Sogiita can just regen, while I feel Sogiita would pretty much kill/KO 5.3 with one amazing punch.

Base Kakine is still on par with Accelerator in Speed (Sub-Relativistic). Meaning that everything that 5.3 throws at him can be dodged. Base Kakine has both hax of ignoring certain materials and just pierce human flesh as well as turning matter into sand. Those two attacks tbh even just the first would be enough to kill 5.3 All of her defenses would be ignored and she would be pierced by the wings which is enough to kill her.

Well as mentioned in the intro: beaing able to beat another Level 5 in a fight doesn't mean you are ranked above them. Though considering that if the choice is made between the life of a Level 5 and Kamijou Touma, Crowley and the City will prioritise Kamijou Touma, Touma being the #0 is a enough logical theory with /that/ criteria. I do know at least one fic where the Board decide to have Kamijou Touma ranked as a Level 5, due to his feats.

In the light novels set after the WW3 arc, mugino begins really becoming a better person after her development in the end of the arc. It's a welcome development for someone we only thought of as a psycho bitch for so long. Misaka Mikoto is also the 3rd most powerful, with Mugino being number 4, and Sogita Gunha being number 5. Although Gunha's power is difficult to quantify, which means his place might be swapped with mugino in actuality. 2nd is Dark Matter but I guess that changes eventually, 1st of course is best boy accelerator.

It's not always simply about punching though. For both current Accelerator or awakened Kakine, the least powerful Touma has to be is a fully evolved Sky Blue and Lemon Yellow form with Imagine Breaker. For Misaka, he just needs his head, precognition and IB. But then, if she has access to a lot of mecha, his base form will have a lot of trouble. In A.A.A. form, she will be dangerous too. For Misaki (assuming she has a lot of people without supernatural powers to control against Touma), it will be a game of physical stamina (cancelling her control over them using IB) vs mental stamina (her controlling many people). The difficulty exponentially increases with the power scaling of the people she can control. However, Touma has a chance because she can't give too many complicated commands at once. For current Mugino, it will be very tough. She has a cyborg limb, and that can wreck base Touma despite precognition. Basically he needs to use at least an accessory if not the dragon shell. It will be a dangerous matchup like against Rensa. A very serious Gunha (not the one that played around with Junko) can be done in, with only the things inside his right hand. This is mere speculation from the fact that Gunha can adapt to deal with any attack he sees coming or know what it's capable of.

The fight from Toaru Jihanki no Fanfare - Misaka it use her Railgun at 30%, and Misaka in form 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 it was more focused to destroy the Windowless Building's than on the fight, moreover her action it was also limited by the one by those who control it. Also has very good reflexes and with her radar she can as well as enabling her to block, deflect, intercept or evade attacks and hazards without looking in their direction, most impressive is with was very tired it was able to react, doge and cordoned her body to everything fuor shots from Mugino Shizuri's Meltdowner at point black range.

I personally wouldn't have even included 5.3 level Misaka, it isn't even her berserk state. It is her being forcibly driven past the level of 5 and would only end in her complete death. It isnt a part of her normal power at all and she cant choose to transform into it at all thus i personally see it as inherently different from Kakine and Accelerators wings which can be brought out by the user and is included in their usual abilities as a result, just them trying harder or going berserk. Espers can use magic, however by doing so their blood vessels burst (which can kill them). When Accelerator has used magic in the past he has used his ability to manipulate blood flow on himself to keep the blood within his body so he doesn't die.

I liked Misaki's vid but she actually doesn't control moisture as that is her level 3 counterparts ability aka mental stinger. Misaki on the other hand can control liquids which is honestly terrifyingly op if used correctly

@@AeonofHorus Yeah, you have a point and I did think about that. But the clone support felt more passive to me (even if Last Order could shut him down) and Qliphahs role felt more active in directly in providing the knowledge/"translating" to get to the platinum wings

basically for stable control of platium wing Acc needs will and Qliphah 545, without Qliphah of course Acc won't be able to access higher knowledge, without Will but with qliphah, he can use knowledge , but Acc's brain and body have limits because he's just a normal human, if too much knowledge flows into his head Acc won't be able to stand it and might lose his life, but if too little then Acc won't have the knowledge to fend off attacks or more advanced Magical beings, Will is like a filter or a decoder and computational aid for Acc on a balanced and stable level. as determined as possible
