Love 1D! Niall is my fav he was so confident (and correct) and he had such a great vibe!! Liam was fantastic (the strongest audition imo and I always thought he had the best voice starting out) Zayn had nice riffs Louis reminded me of myself!😊 Harry, isn't he lovely?? His voice certainly was! ♡

Wow, Liam (RIP 💔) was the only one who sounded good and that's because he was not pushed through before he had some experience and time to work on it for 2 years. I'm actually surprised that they got pushed through. It was purely their looks because a couple of them didn't have any personality. This is the first time I've seen this. Thank you so much for putting it together. It definitely gives me some insight.

based on the first song he did, Harry definitely shouldn't have gone through. but the a cappella rendition of Isn't She Lovely was actually pretty good, one of the best 1D auditions imo. Niall probably only went through because he had a pleasant tone and was cute, kudos to him though, he's put in massive work and is probably only second to Harry in terms of solo music these days

Liam could sing anything but needed to find a sound he could own. His Christmas ballad and teardrops were his best songs and he should have went with that kind of sound

They were not the best singers except for poor liam,even on that island or whatever, but zayn and harry had good tone. I think they had the personality and looks and with all Simons backing and promotion, great witers ..they made it big. They should be grateful that he gave them 1d. Sadly, Liam was too honest and real for showbiz, perhaps being in 1d was not the best for him

Yes, Liam should've been solo. Louise too.Louis was a natural indie type of guy, unique and sweet. Zayn tone was great and showed potential. Harry's personality was, but his voice was nothing too special. Niall was just cocky and lucky.

The one thing i got out of this videos is that the judges had such patience and such a great ear ear like.... we'll be honest most of the boys (except Liam RIP) had very mid to absolutely terrible first auditions but they gave them a chance to sing again and let them shine especially niall and harry their second songs were leagues ahead of their firsts and it just blows my mind that the judges listened to THAT and thought hmmm theres something here

Louis has an indie rocker voice. It's not commercial...but it's very artistic. His voice is best for rock/acoustic/electronica etc...not 100% for the mainstream but he still resonates with majority of the listening public

Watch their live performances when they do their solos in one direction and it’s obvious they can sing. They were young and inexperienced but had unique voices and sounded good as a group. Their personalities and drive also got them across the line. You don’t need to sound like an opera singer to be a good performer.
