Hello , I am a welder as well as a mechanic. I’ve been watching your videos. I love the way that you’re showing people how to do it yourself /at home at a better price margin. I have been wanting to build a nitro trophy truck and as you say all the time it’s about money and time! Keep doing it, my brother!

Quick tip for those steel rods. Brake line bender tool. Made some custom links using that, brake line bender works great. Can repeat your angle and hand held one's are cheap.

I also want to thank you and your wife for the cubic dollars you invest to continue to bring new content and new projects almost rapid fire. It will be interesting to see the turning radius this buggy delivers. I have told countless people about you and your channel when they ask me about the trailer I built and I tell them my specs but your inspiration. Thank you Chris

I noticed the pinion on the rear axle is pivoting up and down quite a bit as the suspension cycles. With longer upper links (same length as the lower) the pinion input on the axle would stay level as long as the spacing was the same from the axle to the chassis between upper and lower links. Just thinking out loud.
@WafflesRC-pb4nt4 ай бұрын
I did notice that as well. Pinion angle during travel and links are still something I struggle with. I'll get it one of these days haha

Im loving watching your videos. You have inspired me to het back into the R/C world. So much has changed from 30 years ago. You also gave me a reason to dig the ole harbor freight welder out of the corner and prove to myself that i still cant weld. 😂 Grinder and paint makes the welder i aint. I gotta ask i keep seeing the black f250. Where did you find that body? It would be awesome to make my yruck in miniature. Thanks man!! Keep the awesome vids coming!

I love this idea! I’ve been building kits for years and I used to like the idea of a two speed trans and I’ve learned through time it isn’t necessary with most sensored motors. If I may make a suggestion the fusion pro is an excellent motor/esc combo. Can’t wait to see how this turns out!

Iv been in this hobby a long time! mechanic for 27 years I think we just have a code that we know who mechanics are and can sense it lol ! Im really enjoying your videos ! I do the same stuff I have a few vids on KZbin build a lot of custom 1/14 semi trucks. And 1/10 crawlers but I just don’t have the social skills to do what you are doing and put it on KZbin and actually talk about it and do it in person! so I appreciate you man! Keep it up your builds are awesome and I really like that your not unboxing the newest rc from horizon hobby that owns everything!
@WafflesRC-pb4nt4 ай бұрын
Your comment has really stuck out to me for the last few days. I honestly don't have good social skills. I can't even film in front of my wife. The way I got more comfortable with talking to the camera is by just imagining I am talking/teaching a close friend. To me, everyone on here is now my friend so it has gotten even easier, and I am being more of myself than when I first started. This community is full of great people who will give you the confidence to keep making videos. I do love those 1/14 scale trucks, and if you are doing custom ones, I know I will watch those!! Best of luck on the builds and your channel if you continue to post. Send me a link if you want so I can check it out. I got some plans coming up involving the big rigs but a bit different. So some inspiration would be welcome!

New to your channel and RC. What are “portals”, and what size rod are you using on this build? I’m a retired certified welder, have a home machine shop (mini lathes, milling machines etc), and find this video very interesting! Subbed!
@WafflesRC-pb4nt4 ай бұрын
Thank you very much. Portals are basically a gear box on the end of the axle that moves the center of the wheel down lower than the center of the axle to give more ground clearance and in some a bit more gear reduction. The rod that I am using on this one is 3/16. I like that size because it is close to scale and still easy enough to bend with minimal tools.

Very cool, but you can afford I just for my bday/fathersday I bought the axial base camp k10 black. Was $100 off so was $379 OTD at my LHS. I know you like to build not judgment here. If you add all your rigs up you have thousands, I have thousands we have thousands 😂. So again I’m not judging you and your making videos so yes each one you make yeah it’s hard to afford. One other i have the castle castle copperhead esc and the slate sensored 2850kv in my yeti 380 and in crawls great one speed and not that great transmission low gearing great unit. My boy put this on his trx4 but used the 3800kv sensored slate. I programmed his throttle curve and one other item and yes it crawled amazingly with a 9t pinion. And on second gear it was absolutely blistering fast like psychotic fast 😂. So just fyi that system brings in about what you paid for your spektrum. Not a brand brat just sharing you can have it all. Beautiful build excited for you piece!

In regards to knock-off brands, ever have problems with any of them? Stripped gears, broken shafts, poor machine work, etc.? Or just use the machine and not beat the piss out of it and you're fine?
@WafflesRC-pb4nt2 ай бұрын
I have had a few issues for sure and I am very hard on them. I have had to finess a few gear meshing issues with a few axles, but that is why I take them all apart before I run them. But I haven't had as many issues as a lot of people think with the knock off stuff. I have a set of axles in one for over a year now and have never broken anything in them, and I'm not easy on them.
@notsure90332 ай бұрын
@@WafflesRC-pb4nt Noted. Thanks man. Been into r/c for decades, but never really looked into making one. With the items available today, its not difficult. I mean, $80 for a brushless/esc combo? $35 for a solid servo? $80 for a seven channel radio? It can be really easy to do if you're already "in" it. To boot, I've got the TIG and shop space for it. Thanks again.
@WafflesRC-pb4nt2 ай бұрын
@notsure9033 oh now I'm jealous because I think a tig would be perfect for these. I'll get one one of these days and then the cages I make will be soooo much better!!!
