What if you used some rod through the holes in the axle truss to build a leaf platform off. Maybe you could kind of weld a sheet to the rods to make the spring perch.

DUDE! Don't give up on the leaf springs, I couldn't forgive myself if I let something that important on a scale build WHIP my FART-VALVE!

A factory tray for almost and Ute in Australia is 1800 mm wide if that helps the canopy the box on the back normally for a 79series are either 1200mmx1800mm or 1600mmx1800mm in 1:1 scale
@tonywags3 ай бұрын
yes I'm from Australia and you got it right if its a flat bed we call it a tray and the box on the back is a canopy your my weekly go to video you are just great awesome builds

Nah mate, you're pretty spot on, there. It's a tray for the ute. The box is a canopy or a dog box. A lot of people coil convert their 79 rear over here. Go for gold, mate. Keep it up.

To be honest my friend I think the ride height is perfect at droop. If you were planning on full sending it I could see 3 inch of travel but for crawling lower has always worked better for me but hey thats why we do this crazy crap! Keep up with the leaf spring mounting youll figure out💯

Make your track bar mount for the rear both sides but put a 90* bend now you have a flat mount plate for your leaf springs. Also for your headache rack/hoop you can easily bend up some idk like 1/8” key stock look accurate since they mostly are square tube. And key stock is very easy to bend with a radius then the mushroomed out edges on the bend can be ground down. I’m sure if you drop and rase Your track bar mounts the axle will not swing so hard.

I dont have a welder and cant really afford one (old and broken lol .On Disability ) But i have seen ppl brazing with 45% silver and bronze. That should work right ?. I am just trying to get started in this my wife tells me i am to old to play with toys but shes ok with it as long as it keeps me out of her hair I will turn 62 next month. Anyway i love ur Channel and was just wonder what u thought about the brazing thing.
@WafflesRC-pb4nt3 ай бұрын
Thank you very much!! I have seen the brazing as well, and it looks like it works great. I honestly don't know how to do it. That's why I haven't tried. But there are a lot of people out there that do it and have no issues that I have heard of.

Have you considered 3d printed options for chassis and such. I'm going that route for my first crawler (1/8th but fits in with 1/10 crawlers on wheel base and such) using Black Crow's Thumper model. what do you think about 3d printed stuff like that?
@WafflesRC-pb4nt3 ай бұрын
I have considered 3d printing stuff for sure, but I don't have one or access to one. I also really enjoy working with metal and I'm quite hard on my RCs so I like having the strength haha
@JosephPerito3 ай бұрын
@@WafflesRC-pb4nt I didn’t consider the use case for your models. I would argue that different printer material like PLA+ can take punishment and has decent flex. But the cost of getting a printer and then all that time is a investment. Just was a thought.

Where are your axle stands not just random items come on safety first, with your skills you could fabricate a set of four axle stands, unlike myself who had to buy a set of four although they are a bit small for my 1/7th scale fleet they work fine as I also have a scale workshop jack, I could probably do a scale workshop. I have been trail and mild rock crawling my Rlaarlo (Croboll) MK07, it is very good so I got carried away and bought alloy wheels and front and rear axles, a way better steering servo, so also bought a second set of tyres. Now I am not going to just throw all of the weighted brass components as I have plenty of time now retired, and need to keep busy or go crazy. So unlike other YT guys who just added the whole lot I am going to experiment to see what works and what is not so, then I will probably have to tune my suspension as I did with my UDR and Ultra 4 Fun-Haver FORD Bronco 'R' as I have got some LX bypass shocks they do for the TRAXXAS UDR and many for 1/10th, so I use the UDR ones on my 7th scale offroad vehicles. Must stop as I am Waffling way too much but as I have said way too much time on my hands now, maybe I should start uploading my fleet of finished and half finished trucks and buggies which I try to make them look like the real thing but not so easy with my six 5th scale gas vehicles.
