I came into this movie in 2009 knowing nothing about Star Trek and walked out wanting to binge all of it. And while I wouldn't call myself nearly close to being a Trekkie, this is one of my favorite movies. It's one that I watch at least once a year. This deep dive made me love it that much more. This was really great Dan. You really went where no man has gone before. I'm excited to see more in the future!

To be honest mate, I had been wondering how you'd been able to get one of these out every week for the past few months. It's clear how much work goes into them! I love the show and hope you can find a way to continue it which isn't so demanding on your time, even if that means less frequent episodes.

I was never a fan of Star Trek before the 2009 reboot but I loved the action and characters of J.J.’s version and don’t mind the 2 sequels. Matter of fact before the reboot my favorite Star Trek related thing was Futurama’s Where No Fan Has Gone Before.

I’m very glad they started the film with the Hemsworth action scene. It’s one of my favourite openings to a film and was the reason I was gripped into watching.

I couldn't agree more, my favorite part of this show is also hearing everything you have to say, all the trivia you found out and seeing your love of each movie. The guests have always been secondary for me. This is one of the very few series on youtube I remember to look for every week and that I will always watch.

Love the show and excited to see what a new version looks like. Personally, I think this show is the best thing you do on this channel. I'm a huge fan of the current video format with the behind the scenes clips and news reels. Totally understandable that it's a bear to do every week; especially on top of everything else. So if the new version of this show stays within a video format, but just less frequently, I'd 1,000% take that tradeoff.

@DanMurrellMovies3 жыл бұрын
It won't be going - I don't really know if rebranding would do much. The sad truth is that unless it's an episode about an already very popular movie (The Dark Knight, Iron Man), there's a sharp drop in interest. It's more about figuring out how to make the show in a way that makes it worth it given audience interest.

I really enjoyed this movie, having grown up watching all the series and movies, and reading both the James Blish episode adaptations and the expanded universe novels. Mum, a Trekkie from TOS days, loved it too. Which is why those who argued that “real” fans hated it annoy me no end. The idea of going off down another leg of the trousers of time, resetting the timeline so there could be genuine peril for the crew was genius. Though it always hurts that anyone could think a black hole less dangerous than a supernova. But at least that is consistent with how ST has always treated black holes.
@TheBeird3 жыл бұрын
So if Beastie Boys exist in the Abrams Universe, would the characters freak out if they listened to Intergalactic? "Like a pinch on the neck from Mr Spock?" In fact, a lot of Beastie Boys references Star Trek doesn't it? Their discography would be an existential nightmare for the crew of the Enterprise!

I'm not sure any other actor could have captured the feel and spirit of Bones any better. Such an underrated actor. Then there's Zoe Saldana as Uhura, simply outstanding. Glad the writers enhanced Uhura's take no crap personality for the film.

I really enjoy the show on KZbin, long formats such as those may not be the most profitable time invested vs views, but if you find a way by slowing the release schedule it would be great. One episode per month if it allows you have more time for yourself and others content you want to do, and still going deep into a movie you want to share with the audience maybe? Anyway thanks for all the effort and passion you put into those videos. I love that it's a mix of review and learning about the movie discussed, your arguments even if we may not always agree are always well formed and it's easy to understand where they come from and respect them. I like the Uhura/Spock relationship and I saw Star Trek on TV first run back in the dark ages. What bothers me though is not using the actual reason a doctor is called "bones" from sawbones a nickname from when doctors did a lot of amputations during wars. I also understand the back story of why Nimoy did the exposition cameo in the next movie. It wasn't the original plan but Shatner was being difficult about just doing a small part so they improvised by talking Nimoy into the brief appearance to introduce Kahn.
