To be honest mate, I had been wondering how you'd been able to get one of these out every week for the past few months. It's clear how much work goes into them! I love the show and hope you can find a way to continue it which isn't so demanding on your time, even if that means less frequent episodes.

Love the show and excited to see what a new version looks like. Personally, I think this show is the best thing you do on this channel. I'm a huge fan of the current video format with the behind the scenes clips and news reels. Totally understandable that it's a bear to do every week; especially on top of everything else. So if the new version of this show stays within a video format, but just less frequently, I'd 1,000% take that tradeoff.

Regarding your announcement, I think a lot of us would be perfectly satisfied with getting fewer of these episodes as long as they are done well. So research those fun facts and do those deep dives! Twice or once monthly is good.

Love the show, and love when you show "behind the scenes" and news clips you've found. Hope it stays as a video medium for that reason, and if that means we get the show less frequently I'm happy to make that trade-off. Regardless of the format though, I look forward to watching/listening in the future!

I had never seen anything from Star Trek before this film came out. I liked the film so much I went and watched all of the original series as well as the movies and have recently watched The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine for the first time. Now I need to watch Voyager. This show/movie is so stellar. I hope they can make more Star Trek movies soon.

So if Beastie Boys exist in the Abrams Universe, would the characters freak out if they listened to Intergalactic? "Like a pinch on the neck from Mr Spock?" In fact, a lot of Beastie Boys references Star Trek doesn't it? Their discography would be an existential nightmare for the crew of the Enterprise!

I'm sorry, Dan...but ST:III has Christopher Lloyd wrestling with a giant rubber worm. It has some really great moments. Shatner as Kirk looking up as his ship burns through the atmosphere and delivering the line "My God, Bones, what have I done," is truly art. But overall? Just a weak entry.

I don't think that the Next Gen movies weren't suitable for the big screen. Generations was fine and First Contact was GREAT. Insurrection dropped the ball with a mediocre story that could have just been a two part episode on the series. That movie should have dealt with the Dominion War or at least something adjacent to that. And then Nemesis, while it had some interesting stuff, was directed by a guy who didn't know what he was doing so the movie fell flat. Had those last two movies been handled better I feel like we would have continued to get at least one or two more TNG movies. I'll never believe that Star Trek suffered from fatigue. It just had a series of misteps that unfortunately led to it's demise.

Decent movie that is very well cast. Karl Urban really rocked as McCoy. Decent until the Spock watching Vulcan blow up from another planet scene. Seriously? Plus the film bears JJ Abrams most egregious signature - no not lens flare - but - the 'cool without context' shot. He frames scenes that may look cool but make no sense without the context of the universe the story takes place. In this film we get the Enterprise being built on earth. In the next one we get the Enterprise under water. These shots may look neat but they make no frigging contextual sense. And the - cool without context - Abrams shots can be found in every one of his films - especially in the Stars Wars films.

I really like the first two acts of Into Darkness. It's in the third act where the movie falls of a cliff. The first act addressed some of the criticisms of the first movie (that Kirk was too green to be given command of the Enterprise) and did a good job of building tension and mystery. And in the second act I was genuinely excited by the prospect that the story was going to take Khan into a radically new direction - allying himself with Kirk in order to take out a common, greater, enemy. Also, Cumberbatch is a class actor who elevated the material. But then in the final act the movie turned into a cringey, embarrassing, poor-man's retread of Wrath of Khan. I'm convinced that if they had avoided that, fans would have a much better opinion of it. Worth noting, that the general public likes Into Darkness just fine (going by reviews and audience scores), it's mostly hardcore fans that tend to dislike it. (Not me though - I'm a hardcore fan who does like it, while not being blind to its substantial flaws.)

I think the 2009 Star Trek is pretty good for what it is. Not my favorite, but a decent take on the franchise aimed at a more casual audience. The films that followed as well as the new shows headed up by Kurtzman who got his start in Trek with this film though are not so good.

I like the Uhura/Spock relationship and I saw Star Trek on TV first run back in the dark ages. What bothers me though is not using the actual reason a doctor is called "bones" from sawbones a nickname from when doctors did a lot of amputations during wars. I also understand the back story of why Nimoy did the exposition cameo in the next movie. It wasn't the original plan but Shatner was being difficult about just doing a small part so they improvised by talking Nimoy into the brief appearance to introduce Kahn.

I personally don't like Zachary Quinto's acting as Spock. And I didn't like Uhura and Spock as a couple (because it didn't feel like the actors had chemistry, to me) But I think the rest of the actors did a good job playing their characters. Chris Pine is quite honestly the perfect fit to be Captain Kirk, IMO He has that kind of all-American vibe along with the charm and swagger that William Shatner had as Kirk.

I really enjoy the show on KZbin, long formats such as those may not be the most profitable time invested vs views, but if you find a way by slowing the release schedule it would be great. One episode per month if it allows you have more time for yourself and others content you want to do, and still going deep into a movie you want to share with the audience maybe? Anyway thanks for all the effort and passion you put into those videos. I love that it's a mix of review and learning about the movie discussed, your arguments even if we may not always agree are always well formed and it's easy to understand where they come from and respect them. It's really rare those days to have a measured take on something and being open to discussion :)

I think this movie and this series as a whole is not given enough credit. Star Trek is honestly alive right now because of these movies. The Star Trek Brand was dying off, literally and figuratively. I am not a hard core trekkie so I honestly don't care that if its more action heavy than Star Trek used to be or if there are aspects that are different. But certainly Trekkies how a debt to this series if they like any of the new shows because there is a good chance that Star Trek wouldn't even be in the cultural zeitgeist if these films hadn't been made.

Who knew Abrams would make a fun Star Trek movie being a Star Wars guy but his Star Wars films were... not great, NOT BAD but not great. Also I feel Karl Urban captured his character the best. I'm not sure any other actor could have captured the feel and spirit of Bones any better. Such an underrated actor. Then there's Zoe Saldana as Uhura, simply outstanding. Glad the writers enhanced Uhura's take no crap personality for the film.
