People need to understand there is no altruism or love or understand from narcissist unless they are going to gain something from it. If yea had two people they both forgot it was someone birthday the first person is upset because they forgot there friends birthday how could I forget something so important my FRIENDS birthday. Second person think *sign* oh yea it so and so birthday better get a gift so I don't look bad in front of everyone and let not me too cheap so they don't buy me a cheap gift on my birthday. See the difference in thinking about same event.

But I agree with you that if you're strong enough to say your piece and walk away, that's the win for you.

Yes... very good... say your piece in peace but very very directly... then pooof,.... gone peacefully, No attempt at correction or exposure, if you try to expose them you will get involved with their flying monkeys and other idiots and that can be deep mud indeed. Just pooooof. gone, ...no way to contact you.. is someone asks, just a soft answer with no clue for the person, If you just say well 'I move on a lot' will say it all with no room for instigating any back lash. Anyone with a brain will know exactly what the deal was and why you are not talking particularly if you are not smiling when you tell them simply that you have simply moved on... and are busy ... with absolutely no attempt to indicate any fault on the part of anyone.... if pressed I always say, ' Well if I myself am any indication, I have plenty of flaws, farting in elevators etc. I am not very interested in what others flaws might have '... completely neutral. That will frustrate the fleets of morons digging for ammunition or some dirt to pass on.

@@andrebryant6343 In our world, we need to understand how to turn empathy on and off, especially when narcissists are present! Ignore the notion of being a "full-time empath." Those were the days. Become a three-dimensional empath, with empathy, lack of empathy, and the ability to pretend to be compassionate in order to politely deal with an unpleasant meeting. The last one is admittedly only utilized on rare occasions, such as for self-preservation when being physically attacked or anything similar. With these three dimensions, we should be able to handle almost any situation -- becoming a kind of a Machiavellian empath of sorts.

When I called out the ex and said "what are you doing?" He went berserk on me because I was checking up on him. Which I wasn't, because at that time I didn't know I needed to. And paying back my father the money that we owed him was a nightmare. My ex would say things like my dad didn't need the money back or my dad wasn't spending money responsibly so we shouldn't have to pay him back. And I said it doesn't matter what he's spending the money on it's his money. It doesn't matter at all what he's doing with his money. He didn't have to loan us any money. And we ended up splitting up permanently and I paid my father back. My ex had no intention of ever paying him back. He thought because he didn't agree with how my dad spent money he shouldn't have to. What a joke. And a piece of crap.

I just let them talk, I nod as if what they're saying is worth considering but say nothing, then I go off quietly and do exactly what I intended to do in the first place. Don't argue with them, don't seek their approval or justify yourself and don't tell them much if anything about your plans or anything good in your life because they will seek to spoil it for you then act like you can only have say or do what suits them. A Pastor lied to me, he believed my ex-son-in-law's mom and wouldn't even listen to my side of the story. Many church leaders don't understand nor are trained in narcissistic behavior nor domestic violence. My ex-son-in-law had anger issues and his mom knew about his anger, but she did nothing to protect my daughter and my young grand-daughter. I tried to reach out to my ex-son-in-law's Pastor and he refused to help my family. He didn't even offer to pray for my family. Thank you, Rebecca, for your dedication to educating people about narcissistic (and abusive) behavior. This training is vital to everyone, especially to those in authority.

@@lightfeather6238 it's like the nature vs nurture thing (or genetic vs environmental). It may be in their genes, but may lay dormant unless triggered by specific events, like trauma, or lack of events, i.e. neglect. Also, there's always a chance that are person will turn into an empath rather than a narcissist from the exact same circumstances and set of genes...so 🤷 it's kinda complex and random. In either case, narcissists and empaths are hardwired slightly different than the normal person (at opposite extremes). I don't think people are born narcissists, but the die is cast by around age 8 or 9 and can not be fixed (maybe treated to a small degree) as it becomes permanently wired in the brain.

Great video. Very educational. In my younger and much niave days, I didn't know then but looking back I believe that I was dating a narcassist. Every time something would happen he would blame me. At a restaurant once he forgot his cigarettes on the table. We took the bus to another location. He then realized that he forgot his cigarettes. He said it was my fault because he was thinking of me. He wanted me to pay the bus fare to the restaurant for his cigarettes. Of course I refused. He used to steal money from me and then lie. But one time I marked my money and then saw him using it. He would steal from stores. We went to a restaurant and he wanted to sneak out without paying the bill. Another time we went to a restaurant and he left a nice tip for our waitress. As we were leaving he said he had to use the washroom. He went back to the table and took the money. I saw him. I asked him about this and he lied and denied it. Also, he was always playing "head games" with me. A previous boyfriend of mine broke us up by saying that I was still dating him. Which was a lie but he didn't believe me and broke up with me. He said he just wanted to get back together with me because he wanted to break up with me again. But actually I was already over him and didn't care. He did try getting 3 of his friends to date me and then break up with me. That didn't work because I didn't want to date any of his friends anyways. But I did go skating with 1 of his friends. Both him and my old boyfriend (ha, they became friends) were hiding and watching us skate. We were suppose to go to a cafe for coffee after and those jokers would come in to harass me. But my skating date thought that I was nice and didn't want to hurt me so we didn't follow through on that plan. It didn't matter because when I got home all 3 jokers were there to bother me. Fortunately my roommate was home. So I now feel that I dodged a bullet. Thanks for a great video.

Covert is a behavior within types of narcissists, not a type. Overt is also a behavior. My husband used both methods of behavior, and YES, passive aggression was key to their entrapment, while maintaining their facades. They do not know they are a narcissist, unless they are VERY well read and practiced. They believe their own lies, in order to convince others, and grew up using these strategies. Game players that cannot and will not ever lose, due to manipulated rewritten stories of tossed word salad, when just word salad doesn't work. The good old blame shifting, denial, bargaining with gaslighting combos, and more. Check out more of Attorney Zung's videos, it's well worth the wisdom, and has lots of merit to gain this knowledge. Very hard to wrap your brain around these behaviors, but imagine that they are cowards who cannot face any truth within, so must manipulate others outwardly to gain fuel for the GRANDIOSE EGO.

You can only be lovebombed IF you allow yourself to be lovebombed, and that's not something everyone accepts. The person I'm with and cannot get away from does not EVER address my concerns, will not discuss a future-where we're going after 3 years, why I haven't met his three daughters or attend family gatherings on my side, won't share finances or discuss money, ghosts me daily, angrily responds when I ask what he did today or what he ate, or where he went. I share freely about my day, considering it a bonding and trust building, friendly way to converse when we come together, and an easy way to help plan dinner so it's not redundant or boring. He gets furious and deviates to other subjects. He rages at me alone in the house, acts absolutely PERFECT in public, steers our activities... He accuses me of killing people that have died that I loved dearly, tells me it's no wonder people don't like me, calls me the most horrific names, and says I do nothing around the house while he also says he's got it and gets angry when I try to do chores. I'm having a hard time not going crazy. I've told him to leave numerous times and he won't. He ignores me, then makes beautiful dinners and cleans the house like crazy. He does not EVER apologize for his awful tantrums, door slamming, or neglect and refusal to walk together -something I love to do. Instead, he walks alone daily like clockwork. He also drinks heavily, so when I drink with him, he uses that against me, saying I don't have room to talk. so, I don't drink together with him, because he's just trying to trap me. I don't know what to do. There's no physical violence, but it's been so awful and I feel like his little pet in a cage. I've never experienced this much abuse in my entire life. I need him gone. He's an attorney, and extremely intelligent, and I can't get him out of my house! Restraining orders require physical abuse, so I'm stumped. Pregnancy. My husband got me pregnant with my daughter while I was still nursing my son. He was barely a year old and I needed more time to bond with him, and my daughter was almost 2 months early because my body wasn't given at least a 2 year break. Both of us almost died, she was a cord prolapse, emergency C-section. He wanted more kids and I refused, also refused sex without a condom until he had a vasectomy. He promised to have it done right away, but waited until our daughter was almost 4 years old. We had 2 pregnancy scares after she was born, fortunately I wasn't pregnant either time, but I had to tell him that if he forced me to have any more kids he'd be raising them alone, because I'm high risk. My Ex said to me that I always disappeared when it was my payday, and in order to feel the Victim, he would engineer a situation, then flip it around, based on the subject and my reaction. This would cause me to leave just before payday or soon after. Then he would lecture me about how predictable I was. The last time I left, I wasn't feeling well after work, and was going to bed. He kicked off, complaining. I calmly stood my ground and said if he was nasty to me again (he'd already been so twice before) I was leaving. He said "Feck off then". I got my things together, telling him how a cruel and insensitive man I thought he was. He said "I knew you'd leave before payday". He let me leave in the rain , and when I got home I was vomiting all night. I know he'll come hoovering one day, because i've not been in touch, or because any new supply runs out. I hope to God, that when that time comes, I can be brave enough to ignore him and say 'no more. In the meantime I'm being 'me' and making a life for myself. 🍒

Another way is they will talk shit about you to people in your shared circle of contacts or family. They will "get there first" to get others on THEIR side, then tell you that everyone agrees with them. Or they will tell you "your Aunt Mary saw a post on your Facebook - and...you know, I gotta tell you, it really concerned her. People see something like that, and your business is ruined. Clients don't want to see that. Keep the politics off your personal page. Just don't do it." And just like that they got out of facing the fact that they were talking shit about you with family for hours the other day. Lying about you.

Ma’am when you stalk about the Narcisist around the 1:37 Minutes you had me laughing out loud because I believed you. Narcisists are scary and dangerous. this is the first time I’ve had to deal with one as an adult. He ruined my life and I’m just a few days people feel like I’m totally different and recovering.

Mirroring! He does the creepy stuff. I asked him if I left my sunglasses in his vehicle! I remembered his extra key was under them when I put them down. He didn't answer the question. 3 days later on a Friday is typically when he wants to take me out with his grandiose self, he asked me if he left his extra key at my house. It was an excuse to come over. It's so weird. He still has my glasses. I think he's going to use them as an excuse to bring them to me. I'm a multi potential empath and intuitive. I find this absolutely fascinating for some reason. But he does open up to me at times. And it's kind of nice to be able to listen to him talk since I had 2 quiet covert Narsacistic husbands. The difference is I know him from 16 years old. Now we're 58. The others I didn't know when I met them. He's a lot of fun to be with and kind of ok for me because I keep my distance and have a separate life when he's not around. I even go on dates with other men sometimes. Just friends. Now he's ghosting me. I'm very confident and am comfortable in my skin. And I don't take it personally. He's very funny so I just laugh at him. My mother is an insecure narcissist so I've been dealing with this my whole life. And of course I'm the 1 that is sort of what you would call immune. But it seems that is all I can attract to me. He's never been married and can never live with someone so at least he's honest there. I know he's hit rock bottom a couple of times. I'm here for him if he wants to talk and when he gets upset I can transfer my calmness to him. So I think he gets some relief from me from the weight of the world. I love him but I'm realistic. I know he could never love me back. But he told me he loves me sometimes. Whatever that means!😁

"Fakers" No one knows more about anything than they do. Weirdly, he did know a lot about some things, but it got surreal when advice would be given unsolicited to people who were actually experts in their fields. As I became aware of this, it was strange to watch the experts actually begin to doubt themselves. WTH? How do they do that??? It took four years and over 100K, but am free now!

Because they are masters in convincing others. It's bizar. No matter who they are dealing with.
