I made this soap with lavender and eucalyptus oil but it seized up in the pot, probably my fault. What I'd do differently in the future is wait for the lye and oils to cool more (I mixed them when they were ~115-120F, but now I'd wait until 100-110F), use the blender for a few seconds only / use more hand mixing, and probably increase the water to lye ratio to 2:1

@@TheEzlau Amazing!! After using this soap, I don't rinse my hands as much as I do with other soap. This way, some of the super fat stays on my hands. It makes my hands feel super soft! I put my soap on a soap holder with holes and was the only one who used it. I only used it for my hands, not my body. One bar of soap lasted well over a month. I also make smaller bars compared to other soap makers. The bar also has a very subtle, natural smell that I can't get enough of.

I made this recipe twice and both times the soap seized the moment I added the lye. I wasn't able to get all of the lye into the bowl infact. I used the same lye to make a different recipe yesterday by Becky's Homestead and it didn't seize. I had both bowls at the same temp of around 100⁰ or less as heat can cause seizing also. 1st I added EO, 2nd I didn't. So it's not the essential oil, and it's not the heat. I doubt you'll remark, but as I can not see the scale in your video, I'm second guessing your written measurements. I sure hope these turn out well in the end as ingredients are not cheap.

@@TatianaUstina I am thinking of making this soap and when I run it through soap calculator her water discount is a lot. Like she is supposed to use 12.05 oz of water but she only uses 5.64 oz. Hello! So I’ve been working with a cosmetologist, they have this 0-5 scale on skin absorbing, and also what makes you break out and what doesn’t. 0 means the best, won’t clog pores, absorbs into the skin flawlessly. 5 meaning it clogs pores, the molecule for the oil is too big and sits on top of skin. Both olive oil and coconut oil do that. They are a 3 which is not good. Can I substitute coconut oil and olive oil for something else in this recipe?
@jerricareed1917Ай бұрын
I'm not an expect by no means but I've seen a lot of Palm Oil, Grapeseed oil, and Sweet almond. Hearts Content Farmhouse does an amazing job going over the calculator. You can experiment with fats and see if your mixture is within range that will make a successful soap.
