This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2025 Infiniti QX80 full-size luxury SUV. The exterior of this body-on-frame SUV is commanding, it has quite an imposing shape to it, it’s bold and confident looking. Infiniti hopes to take a chunk out of Cadillac and Lincoln sales with this new model.
Infiniti has moved to a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 with a 9-speed automatic transmission, gone is the V8. It has an extra 50 horsepower and 102 lb-ft of torque compared to the outgoing V8. It now has 450 horsepower and 515 lb-ft of torque. Standard AWD in Canada. In the US, RWD and AWD options are available. The QX80 can tow up to 8500 pounds.
The 2025 Infiniti QX80 has a new electronic air suspension and dynamic digital suspension technologies. The air suspension can lower the vehicle by nearly 2.8” when parked. While driving, the electronic air suspension lowers by 2.1” to reduce drag and improve efficiency at high speeds.
To give 2025 Infiniti QX80 owners a more luxurious experience, Infiniti is using an available Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system for the first time. It boasts 1,200 watts of power and features 24 speakers that are integrated into the interior. It sounds awesome!
The interior of the 2025 Infiniti QX80 is beautiful with high quality materials being used. Dual 14.3” screens are standard, the touchscreen has Google-built in which is a first for Infiniti. You also get standard wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto
In Canada, MSRP for the 2025 Infiniti QX80 starts at $104,995 CAD, Sensory $113,995 CAD and Autograph $124,995 CAD. In the US add $3,100 USD for AWD on the Pure and Luxe models. Pure $82,450 USD, Luxe $89,550 USD, Sensory AWD $100,645 USD and Autograph AWD $110,595 USD.

Infiniti has certainly sprinkled their magic into this quite imposing full size SUV. It definitely has presence. I’m impressed with their much needed design changes… both inside and out. I wish the new Lincoln Navigator would have spent as much effort (money?) onto/into their redesign. Well done Nissan…or rather Infiniti. Thanks for the video.

Great overview guys! Looks like a perfect lottery car! Looking at the Press Kit, like the similar trim levels on the QX60, the sweet spot would appear to be the next to top of the line Sensory, getting most of the top Autograph trim goodies while substituting the second row bench. I'd swap out the 22s for the base Pure model's 20-inchers for a better all-round set up. One of my few nits - just give us traditional exterior door handles, please...none of this pop-out nonsense. I know this looks sleek and all but.... another item for Zack's "answer to the question that no one asked" list! IIRC, Porsche already seems to have (effectively) realized their miss with the 992.1 911 by retaining traditional handles on the new Panamera.

I like the design and it's a better package but the lack of hard buttons with everything done through a screen or capacitive touch buttons is a serious step backwards and most likely a dealbreaker. They're fine to use when stationary at an auto show or in a dealership but dangerously unsafe when actually driving.

The running joke about the QX80 one of my brother-in-laws had (he was provided a new company vehicle each year) was "What's going to fall off next?". He hated it with a passion and ended the lease early. My personal experience with the Infiniti brand has been mixed. I quite liked the M35 sedan I had for a couple of weeks on a fly/drive vacation back in the 2000's but the Q50 sedan I rented recently was just plain awful - cramped, poor riding, poor handling, touchy throttle. Was I ever glad to turn that turkey in. The Q56 sedans of old were far better even though their interior quality was mixed with some components looking like they belonged in a bottom end economy car. Maybe it's been the Renault influence. Perhaps the next Infinity should be named "Infiniti Dauphine"!

So will those doorhandles pop out on a cold winter day in southern Ontario after a snowstorm and an ice storm that has completely covered the handles? This idea of these flush doorhandles is absolutely ridiculous in this kind of weather in Canada. With that third row up, there is no storage room. It’s ridiculous to think you would carry eight passengers and take them to the airport and try to get luggage in there. Totally unrealistic. I think Nissan better go back to the drawing board. Better yet maybe they should be getting out of the car business. The interior is nice however.
@bigd7386

This is the case with all 3-row SUVs except the extended American large SUVs. None of them will truly fit the amount of luggage for the amount of people they can seat. That’s a feat even with more space efficient minivans. Learned this on several trips with large groups in the last year.

I still don't understand why they use those door handles. It's putting "fancy" stuff on a vehicle that no one is asking for. They aren't even that great of an idea. Before anyone says it's for aerodynamics, it's not. While there may be a little less drag in a wind tunnel test by having the flush handles, the mirrors create much more drag than regular handles do. As well, putting massive 22" wheels on this penalizes efficiency 100 fold over any minute amount the flush handles gain. It's nothing more that a styling exercise because a few others have done it. Stop it please. Make quality (luxury) vehicles, that have a really comfortable ride, have functional useable features and are competitively priced that people can actually afford to buy. Flush door handles, stupidly huge wheels and goofy steering wheels (yokes) are solutions to a problem we never had, and now these are the problems. Enough is enough.

LOL, a friend discovered that the floor in front of the driver seat of his recently out-of-warranty Nissan Maxima had rusted through! You could look down and see pavement! I didn't think things like that happened on modern vehicles.

The Nissans you can get in North America have no Renault parts at all, because Renault does not sell cars in North America. Besides Renault recently sold many of its Nissan-shares, now Nissan and Renault have 15-15% share in one another.

@@tiborsztancs4779 I appreciate your information, but Nissans quality has gone downhill, years ago when it was thought and they were very reliable cars that has since changed. According to consumer reports, the most reliable vehicles are Lexus and Toyota and I’ve never had a problem with either.

@@jz7551 Quality for Nissan has gone down since results purchase, check, consumer reports and other car review stations. They’re just not the same. Sorry I only purchase reliable vehicles spent too many years driving cars it broke down.

What is wrong with people at the New York show ? You are obviously filming and providing commentary and people are constantly walking into your frame, sitting in the car with you and one woman was taking selfies from the front seat while Andrea is presenting from the back seat. Is it a New York thing or stereotypical boorish Americans? I am willing to bet that if you were at a Canadian auto show, people would respect your space and leave you alone for ten minutes or so. Presumably you were not given access to the show before the public was admitted. Make America Great Again, my ass.

This was media day before it was open to the public. Many of the people around the car are other journalists from around the world

The fact that your media peers did not show the courtesy to allow you to video a few minutes undisturbed, is even worse than I thought initially. Kudos to you for remaining unflappable and completing a quality presentation.

Sometimes when you are at these shows, you get a break and the crowds disperse, there may only be a few people around when we review the car. But, the Infiniti booth was packed at all times and Zack and I just had to do the review with people getting in and out of the car. I couldn't believe it when the woman jumped in the front seat as I was presenting in the back. You just have to do it and try not to be distracted, it's not always easy. But we wanted to show you the vehicle from the show, so this is what we had to do. Crazy times!
