Just ordered the WM diver, looks stunning. Never going to go diving with it, so it’s looks and price make it a no brainer purchase for me and the push pull crown isn’t a deal breaker.

Well that’s disappointing. My watch arrived this morning but the seconds hand wasn’t attached, just sitting in the bottom of the watch. Sending it back. Not sure if I was unlucky or if this is the QC from WM, but never had an issue with Pagani, San Martin, Steeldive or Tactical Frog.

Sinn diver with a push pull crown and is rated to 4000m. Less exotic perhaps but some Citizens with 200m depth ratings have push/pull crowns.

The case shape of the Welly Merck is very cool, I just wish it were brushed everywhere; I'd like to get the case on its own and build a watch, because I don't like the hands or dial, and a Seiko movement would be nice - but still a very cool case shape. Every San Martin review is the same, and while universally positive, none have done anything to remove the reputation of "soulless". Nice video!

I have copule of friends in watch industry (Polish company G. Gerlach), and according to them it is possible to get 200m WR without screw down crown, and not even a 100m WR with screw down crown. Everything matters to the construction and usage of gaskets. BTW this case looks like old Pagani Design which wasn't very popular with slightly different bracelet.

Most Ali brands uses NH35 which has a date complication even when their watches have no date window to save cost. That means those watches have a ghost crown position to adjust the date but you can't see anything because they have no date window (people also refer to this as a ghost date window)

Some brands use watch movements with date mechanism with dials that do not have a date window. Thus, when you pull out the crown to the first position, you can turn It and apparently nothing happens (although under the dial the date wheel might actually be moving and you might even hear it). You have to pull out the crown again in order to be able to move the hands. Some other manufacturers modify the movements to remove the date mechanism and, although you still have the ghost position, nothing is actuated if you move the crown in that position.

It's what you get when the watch doesn't have a date window, but the movement has a date complication. The 'ghost' position is when the crown is pulled out one click (which engages the date change) but obviously there's no date visible.
