1. The radar sensor is a catastrophe! This was designed so much better in the predecessor. 2. The trunk space is a joke. I think, that Bentley customers want to use the cars for long journeys. 3. What about the weight? Is it the reason for the top speed limit of the GTC?

Not only the screen bezels are gigantic for such a car, but the panel gap in the centre console screen at 9:23 is also thick for such an expensive car, and the whole gimmick feels like a random aftermarket attempt to make the car look cool. I'm real, check the new Dacia Duster's centre console screen, the vertical bezels aren't as wide as Bentley's. On the other hand, the Mazda CX-60 bezels are THICK, but they look way less "cheap". Once again, many brands are too focused on making technological and fast cars, rather than making better cars.

Thomas, the tool in the rear centre that you didn't know what it was for is the Emergency Release Tool for when the soft top roof won;t automatically go back in to the up postion. There is a hole behind the centre rest where the tool is kept that the tool fits into and it requires 2 people on either side of the car to asist putting the roof back into the closed postion. A handy tool if the roof is down and it wont close automatically and it looks like rain !!

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWLEf42bpMano6c). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6G1f56NbtOlqNk And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKe7loOHnsSAd80 New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2qXiouAbJeIiqM More and more natural materials are rising: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIO2pIt7o9x7etE Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHCdKmCocZ5oqs For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpzNdHSjppaSbqc Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. Also a group of researchers and German journalists from public media could recent directly trace the connection between car animal leather production and illegal burning down Amazon rain forest: www.daserste.de/information/reportage-dokumentation/ard-story/videos/illegales-leder-video-100.html In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars. We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future. For a great insight into sustainability in the automotive industry, you can also check out our extensive documentary: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2nKf4uih6yhnaM

@@autogefuehl first of all thank you for your detailed answer. Still , what we should aim for , is to avoid meat consumption, because its where millions of animals are killed every day. Their skin/leather is a byproduct, that we should ofcourse avoid consumption as well. But its not the main reason why animals are killed. Also , as europeans we are a bit hypocrite, we all are because we were educated like that. We say to the brazilians : For centuries, we as europeans destroyed all our big european forests to build our civilazation (houses, factories, offices, monuments, companies , parking lots , etc. But you Brazilians, you are not allowed to do the same thing with your forest. I like it. It is "objectively" better than the previous version, but some of the subjective factors leave me wanting. I prefer the traditional dual-circle headlights with crystal-like bezels. The W-12 will also be missed despite the phev V-8 being more powerful and emissions-friendly. The 3d texture part of the interior door panel is cool, but i'd rather have a stitched leather pattern (hopefully that option is also available). I could go on, just little stuff like that, but overall this is a very competent re-design. Some things should have been changed more, and other things should not have been changed as much.

Thanks for hint for the tool! The Bentley folks on location didnt even know about that!

The problem is that if they dont offer animal free solution from works, they have to do crash tests for an individual customer and that doesnt happen. The interior materials are safety relevant for deploying of airbags etc.
@jenny80myles6 ай бұрын
@@autogefuehl You have much better access to the auto maker than I do, but I am pretty sure they have to meet safety standards even for a one-off. So I wouldn't worry about airbag not working correctly if you customize your interior. By the way, I am not against using non-leather. I am just pointing out Bentley is a little different from your average auto maker. If you don't like their standard offering. You have options and most Bentley buyer will exercise those options.

I asked them if they can supply animal free, there were some special editions they made for the Mulsanne but not much news after that. I can specifically re-ask if Mulliner can do that but last time the answer was no. I even visited Crewe plant. At Rolls Royce for example, they were explicitly hating on vegans with their old CEO. Might change with new CEO

Lovely design but surely they could shorten the bonnet and find space to make rear seats useable

I've always loved this channel ant in particular Thomas attiture and politeness. However htere is one thinlk I can't stand is mantra about anima free seats. I've neven been a big fan of leather but thinking that artificial leather is more sustainable is not a correct message. No animal have never been killed just to manufacture leather. Leather is a good way to recycle somethign that would be wasted anyway. On the other hand artificial leather is produced from fossil fuels. During the production or destruction may produce dioxins toxic to humans and animals. Whenthe leatherette will be disposed it does not decompose like genuine leather and can release dangerous chemicals into the water and soil. So welcome to "animal skin" over the Leatherette. So why not to use natural fabric insead?
