Plugin pickups are going to be awesome with electricity on tap for working. But I think the perfect machine might be a diesel plug in, that could run on biodiesel. Then, as batteries get better, the core range could grow over iterations, but you'd always have that (kind of) carbon neutral fuel to fall back on. If 100% pure BEVs don't immediately take over, then biodiesel plugins (with iteratively growing battery capacities) are the asymptotically-final form of heavy duty ground vehicles.

@@robertopics yes The chevy volt did it as well. I had one and wouldn't recommend one. Read up about the lies chevy told about both the bolt and volt batteries. They only had to fix the bolts, since the government forced them. The volts also have bad batteries, but aren't catching fire, due to 1/4 the pack size with the same cooling power. Instead, they just degrade fast and the car limits the usable power and kicks on the engine sooner. Eventually, the car disables itself and cannot be driven until you replace the battery for $10k+ Edit: mine was a 1st gen (2015)

Ford doesn't have to go all electric immediately to get sales. First of all, most of their consumer vehicles are going to get 30+ mpg within the next 5 years or so by becoming normal power assistance hybrids. That's fantastic on it's own. But I also imagine as batteries and other electric technology improves, they'll be able to do plug in hybrids. A plug in hybrid with 20-45 miles of range on battery means most people will not use the gas engine on probably 85% of drives. And even when they do, 99% of the time they won't be using it for more than a few miles. For all intents and purposes, those are electric cars. In fact, as it stands today with electric infrastructure and charging speed, thats *better* than fully electric cars today because you don't have to stop for 45+ minutes on those 1% of times when you're on long trips. So I think Ford is putting itself in a fantastic position to transition into EVs. I just wish they'd started the transition 5 or so years earlier. (And to be honest, the transition should have started back in the early 00's when GM built the EV1. But we know the oil companies intervened there.)

The dealerships are not the problem (some dealerships are better then others). The lack of products from Ford is the problem. Fill up dealer lots with product and all problems are solved. Dealerships with too much inventory are always ready to make deals and move product. Dealerships with only one specialty vehicle, have always charged over MSRP. Ford's EV production levels are slightly better than the production of a specialty vehicle. Many local dealers have yet to even see a lightning on their lot for sale. It remains to be seen when the lots will be full of Mach E's, Lightnings and the like. Ford has supplied you with great video footage and you are doing a great job at promoting the future of Ford. Now, lets see if and when, Ford can stand up to produce a large selection of EV's to choose from. Farley admitted to Sandy Munro, they had basically no vision when it came to building a lightning factory, and now he has to knock down a wall and expand. Of course you may say sales were so good they had to expand. Or you could say they didn't plan to succeed and were just testing the waters. Don't get me wrong. I want Ford to succeed and build Mach E's that have good batteries with good high voltage contractors and carry that over to their future EV's. Time, not words will tell the rest of the story.

Ford has over 110-yrs. of production & proven capacity. If they want to achieve displacing Tesla, they have the resources to do it and the will to follow it through. On price alone, they trounce Tesla, but their range is still mediocre. Nobody wants to have to find a charger and sit there for an hour or more for every 200-mile drive. Stop giving the offenders the inventory. Plus, stop pointing fingers. You guys have raised the prices on every model by thousands from 21 to 22 and now for 23. The order banks for 2023 Maverick open in September. Then you will be able to order one at MSRP. You will have to wait six months for it to arrive on average, due to the demand. I expect 2023 will sell out within 30 days. Every well-designed, reasonably priced vehicle is spoken for nowadays; there are still production bottlenecks. There is only 1 plant making the Maverick, the Hermosillo plant, and it has to make 2 models. They still haven't reached full capacity due to parts (only made about 6k last month), and i believe the max production capacity of the plant is 10k/month. As for the 2023 Ranger, Ford will not be officially announcing that model until the Detroit auto show. Until then it is all rumors and guesswork.

@@warbuzzard7167 Well, they can't produce enough electricity for a start, especially if they want so called "green renewable power." Secondly, I think generally, it is a bad idea to produce a mass market product (batteries), from a rare earth mineral, especially when China controls those resources. Any way you cut it, the costs will make it prohibitive for people to own their own form of transport. Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum has publicly called for world governments to stop private vehicle ownership. Essential the globalists want to crash car ownership, so they are introducing a system of transport that will fail.

2 things. 1. Tesla proved geeks can’t build a viable truck so Ford is safe there. 2. My wife and I have owned 11 Ford (4 Mustangs, 4 F150s, 1 Bronc II , an Escape, and currently a Cmax hybrid) but will ever buy from a Ford dealer again. We’ll wait and see when we can buy direct. BTW, the built quality got so bad on F150 that I switched to a GMC Sierra and love it.

Ford can’t catchup to Tesla in a hundred year. First, Tesla is the most well capitalized auto company in the world, exceeding Toyota, GM, MB, and BMW combined. In contrast, Ford is bottled up in debt, nearly $35 billion as of today. The share price of Tesla versus Ford reflects the financial strength of the two companies. In the immediate future Ford will assume even more debt as it constructs new EV manufacturing facilities and convert old ICE to EV production. Finally, Tesla has already lined up battery suppliers to power 2 million plus vehicles whereas Ford has not. Tesla will reach its stated production goal. Ford will not. Ford cannot match Tesla in any of these metrics- Ford CEO Farley is lying or hallucinating.

The Lightning is successful if you consider 5000 units successful. Nor is it successful if you want people that need a truck, to buy a Lightning. 100 miles to a charge while pulling a tiny trailer is a joke. Ford will have no problem outselling Tesla once they get the chip bs straightened out. That will take care of the mark ups also. You can complain about dealer mark ups, and should, but most of the Lightning buyers are flipping them for a big profit anyway so until they start making more, you’re going to have to pay a premium if you really want one unless you’re lucky enough to get one from a good dealer. As far as Teslas numbers, I’d take them with a grain of salt. Nothing they’ve said about numbers or new models has ever been right so I doubt they’d start now. Remember that hideous truck that was supposed to be out, how long ago? Isn’t the Tesla S about 10 years old now without being changed?

Battery suppliers wont be able to make enough batteries for full EV fleets, so that's why they are doing the next best thing and going with Hybrid, which done right is VERY effective! It will be another 5 years before any legacy automaker can do full EV's at scale. However Tesla will have their own battery factory in FULL production and be WAY AHEAD of the game as usual! Not only have the supply, but in huge savings to them. They can charge whatever they want. Thats a good position to be in. The legacy automakers are still trying to get away from their awful dealers. Tesla will have full vertical integration from raw materials to the dealers! NO MIDDLEMEN! Its going to be extremely hard to compete with that. Ford is best at finding corners to cut though.

@@fhclappen8595 No, the advantages of not having a 4-stroke engine plagued with failure points is the main reason. Have you worked on anything new? Its a nightmare. Now add complexity of hybrid systems??? NO THANKS! The most simple system is an all electric drivetrain. Batteries are the only weak point. Once a better chemistry is found then its a no brainer. Who needs to drive 200+ miles a day anyway? A very small % of ppl drive over 50 miles a day. Even if you want to take trips everywhere, the wear and tear on the car driving that much is NOT worth it.
