It weighs 2630 kg almost 400 kg more than previous s63 model,why should 1 e motor plus inverter and battery pack weigh 400 kg,lucid air e motor has 670 hp 820 nm that weighs only 31 kg with inverter and transmission it weighs only 72 kg,if mercedes wanted they easily could do the same thing with 100 kg weight gain with more energy dense battery and more efficient electric drive unite

@@pistonburner6448 amg switched their customer base, I don't care too much, as I'm a fan of older gen cars, but it's cringe to say the least to see how they are using instagram models/influencers to promote their cars. It's the end of an era, and I'm not being nostalgic or "old".

I own the older generation 2018 W222 S63 sedan and while I appreciate how Mercedes has changed their design style and made the car look pretty nice I still think the older generation has a more timeless, classy, luxurious look and the performance upgrade is only 0.1 seconds for this newer gen. Wonder what others think.

I agree. Although mine is the 2017 S63 Coupe. But the interior has honestly help up. I think the digital dash in the older generation is actually better integrated as well than this new one.

New design still hasnt grown on me. Lots of gimmicky nonsense without much substantial improvement in my opinion. The hybrid adds unnecessary complication for no reason, and the digital IWC watch is just a joke and insult to anyone that knows anything about watches. Mercedes is just making a mockery of their clients at this point, but i dont blame them. People would rather buy a brand that a good product. My current 2020 s class will probably be my last.

the 2018 S-Class is the peak of S-Class design hands down. it looks so much more commanding and admirable, the new one looks like a bigger C-class and not like anything outstanding.

Bright trim over the black pack - very S-Class. Just sure about the AMG grill on an S though - make me think of an aftermarket addition. The AMG S-Class is all about stealth to me.

I was always told that a new car has to be "run-in" before thrashing it on a motorway and yet you always do supersonic speeds with cars that have just come off the assembly line. Was I given the wrong advice Thomas? By the way another great review....as usual.

I never understood what this model was for? To drive comfortably and quickly on the autobahn? The basic S class can do that. To have a very luxurious and comfortable vehicle? The basic s-class with options can do it, and it's more comfortable and quieter than this model. Unless you plan to drive your S class on a race track, the only thing that comes to mind is that it serves to say that you bought the most expensive and strongest model, there is no other purpose.

The touch steering wheel and the tablet screen are the biggest failures -- the previous generation wheel that has buttons is more functional/dependable driving just like the MBUX setup on "lesser" models that utilize touch screen and a touchpad with button controls.

Don’t necessarily agree with the author as to get the speed and acceleration in ever fattening cars - you just have to go electric. 8-9-10 gearbox, couple of hundred kg’s gained over the years… F1-style hybrid drive is needed to bring this full blown acceleration experience. Compared to my favorite S Class, this car is over 500kg heavier (Without electric motors, 680kg with) - that’s a weight of a Smart FourTwo car added. Drove the prev gen S63, was not impressed. As far as the review goes, it’s as of a higher standard as we’re used to - keep up the great work. 😊

I don't really like the way the displays are currently integrated in Mercedes and BMW. It looks like an iPad glued on with superglue, with very large display edges. It's not integrated into the center console at all anymore.

Without no hood emblem i rather drive the maybach s class. I want people seeing me drive an s63 from far away. The maybach is better
