Very nicely done. Confess that even as a 30-year retired IT guy, sometimes keeping track of these changes in devices and systems can be daunting. I just traded in my 2019 Ram 1500 for a 2022 Ram 1500, going from UConnect4 8.4 to this new UConnect5 8.4 and my god is it different! Thanks for this excellent vide.

I have a new 2021 Durango RT. I am gettiFYI. UConnect message that says I need an update. I took it to the dealership twice. I was told there are no updates available at this time. I purchased March '21. It is not June '21. I am still waiting. I like my ride. No mechanical issues. The Uconnect feature is slow to send out updates. Just fyi.

For anyone who comes to this video -- keep in mind that UConnect systems come with and without NAV capability. I confirmed that the Map display shown in this video on the Home page is NOT possible in my UConnect 5 8.4" system that doesn't have the NAV capability. I can use both Waze and Google Maps via AndroidAuto from my Samsung phone, but neither of those apps are options for adding to the Home screen. In fact, the home screen is, thus a bit useless. I don't need a screen that shows me music, when there's a Music icon right next to the Home icon AND there's a music item in the top tray. I'd prefer a Phone object for Home, but all I can see are things like Phone Favorites and Phone Recents, but not the Phone control itself with keypad, etc. I can add SteeringWheel/Seat controls, but there are buttons immediately below this display for those. I can add Comfort to the Home screen, but there's a Comfort item on the bottom bar exactly for that. So for me, without the NAV option, Home is pretty uselss. Now if I could only get the Music part to remember my old iPod after a stop/start the truck because right now EVERY time I turn off the truck (e.g., fill up with gas) when I restart it, I have to unplug/replug the iPod cable (sometimes multiple times) before the UConnect 5 system "sees" it again. Very frustrating since the UConnect4 system did not do this. Ah, well. Progress, right

Hate this new system. Found the old uConnect 4 a lot more user friendly. Can I set up speed warning like on the old system or just get the annoying beep @ 5 km/h over the limit?

I was told by Uconnect customer service that this is a known issue. They are targeting to have a fix by end of June 2021. When update is available, they are supposed to mail a USB stick so owners can manually update. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Thus far, THS is the thing I most dislike about the U5 8.4 in my new Ram 1500. The previous generation had much larger text/fonts. This one has pencil-this fonts and my 63-year old eyes that need glasses to use a computer have difficulty seeing it (it is about the same distance from my eyes while driving as a computer screen is, like right now). I've not yet seen such a feature. But I noticed in this video that when he changed themes, the text along that upper bar also seemed to change. I'm going to the garage today (after I'm done with my morning coffee) to check it out.

Can report that the Uconnect5 8.4 system in my 2022 Ram 1500 Big Horn does NOT change any fonts or font sizes that I can see, other than the font used for the speed number in the speedometer display.

After only 6 months, we traded a new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited trim with Uconnect5 back in for a new Trailhawk with the good old Uconnect4. I would never buy another Jeep/Ram/Dodge product with the new Uconnect5. Check out Ram's ratings with JD Power, they just reduced their ranking due to issues with Uconnect5.

It depends on the internals of that specific vehicle, so you'll have to your local dealership. My suspicion is that the answer will be no since this probably requires more powerful processors to run
