Appreciate the video, hope ya got the job buddy! lol I bought a house a couple years ago and this past winter the plastic gear at the door end split in half, so I 3d printed pulleys instead of spockets and replaced them. My dumbass though figured they had installed the "chain idlers" the wrong way, so when I re-assembled I put them pointing in towards the rail, because you know, for chain idlers/guides that makes a whole lot of sense. It seemed to work, not perfect, but the door at least opened and closed, and at least during the winter mostly stayed closed.... Spring hit and now I'm trying to figure out why it closes and then then keeps trying to open back up, once and awhile it works. I searched for a fair bit not finding any videos that have openers this old, and your "chain idlers" are pointed out too and you refer to them as limit switch actuators, and I feel like a dummy. 5 mins, swap them around on each end, because that's easier than flipping the chain back and walla door works brilliantly. Thanks for making me feel stupid :)

What if you install the torsion spring on the outside of your room with some pullys? That's going to be a pain in the ass to change openers with. If I were you I'd just stick with extension.

GREAT OPENER!!! Those are beasts, but the thing is... I feel like you can mod the front of the door, to do a traditional mount. Be careful with torsion. I was trained by a door company to service/install them. They can be tricky, just be very careful!

@built4sped that is a pretty old opener. If you are good with electronics and want to fix it, go for it...otherwise i would replace it with something made by chamberlain....good luck!!

I have the exact same model as you. Unfortunately, I also had the same issue as you. I had to take a pare of channel locks and started moving the sprocket back and forth. It eventually loosened up and started working again. However, the motor was so weak at that point, it would not longer lift the door. I could not find parts or anything for the unit online. So I swapped it out for a Genie... What a sad quality difference from then to now.
