Meryl understood some true power in that & displayed it excellently. Shouting evokes emotion/effort. Normal tone stations the speaker higher & hints at “deserved” disdain. It’s a power play artfully displayed

@@georgianabodoiu59 oh no, what she is doing is closer to gas lighting than it is to being passive aggressive. She is manipulating and intimidating everyone around her, and many times she is outright cruel with no pretense of "niceties". Passive aggressiveness is characterized by indirect resistance to the demands of others and avoidance of direct confrontation. Miranda's character is being overtly aggressive, dominant, and cruel all while maintaining a soft tone, which implies that those behaviors aren't a result of high emotions or loss of control, but implies that they are 100% deliberate and second nature. It also exudes an air of self-control most of us only fantasize about while having imaginary arguments in the shower lol. NOBODY else could have portrayed Miranda Priestly as perfectly and with such grace, nuance, and icy-cold elegance as Meryl Streep. She made that movie the success that it was.

Helland is an award winning hair and make-up artist who has done Meryl Streep’s hair and make up for all of her movies for over 4 decades. Anyone who’s anyone in the industry knows who he is. It’s not like she remembered a runner’s name or cameraman.

I didn't get that either! When I saw this movie first, I didn't know much about any of these actors. I am not into fashion magazines 😅 so I had no clue how these people look outside their characters in that movie or any other. I wasn't aware the industry put so much money in the hair and makeup etc😅 But still I would have seen it now. Cos Meryl's hair was always big. And cutting long hair short makes it pop more usually. Which it does here too. So that wig creator is really off the charts!!😮 Cos he put that into it

Helland is an Oscar (and BAFTA) winning stylist who’s been in the industry for decades. He’s not just a random dude who happened to be working the movie that day. It’s like someone saying “wow I can’t believe it’s been 50 years and Mark Hamill still remembers that guy who wrote the score for Star Wars!” 😂

Everything in this movie was completely on point and immaculate. I love how everyone is pointing out the beautiful hair and makeup and clothes. I'd love to point out the set design and not only that, the flower arrangements that were in darn near every single sceen. Whoever the florist team was achieved perfection every single time.
