The panda's are not going because of tensions with China. It's because of the horrific condition of YaYa and LeLe pandas at the Memphis Zoo! For a full year people kept begging the Zoo to do something about both panda's skin condition and starvation! Memphis was actually asking people to bring their bamboo to the zoo to feed them! They wanted free bamboo instead of paying to get the right bamboo in from China!. Poor LeLe lost his life just weeks before he was to return to China. We all saw him die on camera and yet the zoo took nearly a hour to check on him even though people were calling them LeLe had a seizure, went down and was not getting up. China sent people to Memphis to prepare YaYa's move to China and brought bamboo. Today YaYa's skin condition has cleared up, she has gained weight and looks great! Memphis claimed they couldn't do anything about the condition. So don't blame Biden for some made up tension with China. Blame Memphis Zoo for their neglect and abuse and death of LeLe and YaYa's near death from incompetence.

@@tvil8Have you researched about China’s panda sanctuaries? I suggest you educate yourself first before spewing out prejudices. And if you’re just talking about how Chinese people live, let me tell you, most American cities, towns, and neighborhoods are way way behind in terms of infrastructure, transport mobility, and urban convenience. Have you seen a high-speed train in America? None. China has lots of them. The place you live in for sure would look like a backwater compared to a Chinese city.

All pandas were on loan from China including their offspring. Well miss them but hopefully they’ll be able to go somewhere closer to natural habitats. Obviously the pandas were supposed to go back three years ago so they let them stay an extra three years to properly care for their little one until it was old enough to transport safely. Shows that overall they are a cared for species by all involved.

@@vaderladyl I don’t think ”bitter” is right, more like “jaded.” Everyone in my group felt the same. There were hot, crying children and terse ushers who constantly warned about penalties for photographing or even stopping in the line to look. You had to keep moving in a constant stream to allow everyone to see them in a tiny enclosure as they clung to artificial trees. Certainly didn’t expect them to perform or anything, but the one on display looked terribly forlorn. It was just sad. But having seen them in person and (much more and for longer) on video, I can tell you that video is far better. Admittedly, this was at least thirty years ago when there were far fewer of them. The viewing experience in recent years probably far outshines what I experienced.

Although not all American zoos are as evil as the Memphis Zoo (we also saw many kind Americans in the Yaya incident helping to rescue Yaya so that Yaya can return to China smoothly, and we Chinese are grateful that these kind ordinary Americans can voice justice), I still firmly believe that sending pandas to the United States is a crime and shame that the Chinese government cannot erase, and I hope that our Chinese government will listen to the voice of the Chinese people and stop sending pandas to the United States after the Yaya incident is exposed. Animals should not be sacrificed for the political interests of humans, they are equal creatures on the earth like humans, they need the respect and love of humans, and they deserve careful protection in their own homeland. After all, we only have one Earth, and we should protect the Earth, not go around fighting wars and destroying the Earth like the evil U.S. government. The United States has good people, but the U.S. government will always wage bloody wars on the earth for money, slaughtering people in other countries, destroying the local ecological environment, and harming innocent animals.

In order to display pandas in a zoo, the zoo must agree to pay $1 million per year to "rent" the pandas and send all babies born in said zoo back to China. Furthermore, China recalled the giant pandas from San Diego Zoo before the Memphis incident, back during the trade war under Trump (in April of 2019). After a panda died in Memphis earlier this year, their other panda was recalled to China. Now, the pandas in Atlanta and DC are being recalled, as well. It's probably related to tensions between the two nations, but it could also have something to do with the costs to zoos who's funding was likely hit hard during the pandemic. As much as I adore giant pandas, I'd rather see them in zoos under better contracts. The ones currently in use drain funds away from caring for animals the zoos can own. As cute as giant pandas are, they shouldn't be a proverbial cash cow or "carrot and stick". I just hope they continue to be cared for in China despite the economic issues looming worldwide.

In days China's vets were here. YaYa has no skin condition any more and has gained a ton of weight. Many of the pandas that recently returned the lease was not up. If anyone hear me. Please Save Pu Penda who deported from Korea to China per this agreement. Please CBS helping PU Penda returning her to home Korea from China. PU seems really ill amd misses her grandfather who is a zoo keeper in Korea. I feel so bad to watch her being deteriated in health. She really misses her home. This agreement is inhumane. This is a business agreement, not for Panda.

They were fed well, in the afternoon if you checked the cam (eastern time, US) you would probably catch them eating for hours. Qi Ji and all the others loved training with their keepers and actually usually are lured away when they have to do work to reduce potential risks. When Qi Ji was a cub, he would latch onto keeper’s legs like the ones in China.
