My daughter and I first saw fufu on KZbin, since then she has been hooked in wanting to try it. We live on a small island with zero African restaurants, so the only way we can eat it is by cooking it ourselves, and I finally did it by watching your video. It came out perfect on the first try!! We paired it with a curry and it was amazing!! Thank you for the alternative recipe! You made a little girls food dream come true hahaha

I love this! I searched to set out to find a flour version to verify my conclusions to be right that as an African American I've been eating "FuFu" all my life. I find joy in saying that. It is basically what we call old fashioned drop dumplings as my mother and grandmother taught me to make and as I am eating for lunch today with stewed down chicken and vegetables: Such as carrots, onions, celery, peas, corn and okra. Only difference is the African way is you steam it while turning it with the hot boiled water, rather than as we do it by forming a raw dough first with cold water soft butter mixed into it, a pinch of salt to taste and pulling off into pieces to drop into boiled simmering water to boil it until it is cooked through. it is a dense version fufu to be chewed not swallowed but is still the basic sustenance of flour and water or ground meal or grains pounded or kneaded into dough used to sop up gravy. soup, stews or sauces. I have heard people compare it to mashed potatoes, I don't think that is the correct comparison. It's more like a pliable biscuit or dumpling to me. Not so unfamiliar this wonderful dish, it's versatile and delicious.😍😋

@sugarcastlecakesncrafts8411
@sugarcastlecakesncrafts8411 Жыл бұрын
If it's still sticky when cool, that means you didn't get it from the start. You added too much water when making it from the beginning. You can try it once more, but follow the instructions exactly as it was given in the video. Even if you are using a low gluten flour, it will still come together when cool as long as you follow the instructions properly. Don't worry about the mistakes, it's a learning process. I know I made tons of fufu mistakes when I was still learning to make it, but with time, it became a part of me.

Firstly make sure you are using All purpose flour without any additive. Secondly rewatch the video and follow the instructions exactly the way it was said. Thirdly, practice makes perfect. Some people don't get it the first time especially if they are not used to making fufu but I assure you that if you master this technique, there is no swallow food you won't be able to make. Give it another try and make sure the quantity of water that you add at intervals is not more than the flour so that you don't have a watery fufu.

Africans eyeball measurements. Why is the 1 cup of flour noted, but not the ratio of water? 🤬

Well, I guess it might be called that in English language but in my language this is fufu, a type out of the many African swallow foods that we have.

This isn't fufu powder. It's ordinary plain flour.

Weak hand cant do this ur fufu turning excerise. Meanwhile, plain flour is just over processed carb and will swell your tummy.

I don't think using all purpose flour for fufu is a good idea. It can be so unhealthy and can cause constipation. If you must use it, I think you will need to add baking soda to incorporate air into the dough. Without baking soda, this can definitely cause stomach problems

Baking soda in fufu? No it definitely will not cause constipation or stomach problems because the cassava fufu that people eat all the time which is even stronger than flour and has no baking soda hasn't caused any constipation to us eating it. Besides you can decide to make your fufu to the consistency of your choice, soft or hard depends on you.

@@sugarcastlecakesncrafts8411 I don't consider that as fufu that's the reason I said add baking soda. And yesssss baking soda in fufu. It's okay to put baking soda in any meal to ease digestion. We always add it to beans(peas) Baking soda can be added to anything.

@@sugarcastlecakesncrafts8411don't tell me you ain't aware that you can mix baking soda in water and drink when you have stomach issues. Please do more research on baking soya. And yes I understand that you are trying to be creative and entertaining on your channel but please don't cook fufu with all purpose flour. You can't compare cassava to all purpose flour. Cassava is very easy to digest but all purpose flour isn't plus its very unhealthy, reason why people go for wheat flour.

@@ifynazzy74 Thanks for your contributions. It's your opinion, you don't need to consider this as a viable alternative fufu but a lot of people like me do. Also, you can make your fufu with whatever you want to ease your digestion. This is how I make mine and I have been eating this flour fufu for as long as I can remember. So far I haven't had any issues yet.
