Playthrough Rules:
1. Only my selected pokemon in battle
2. No items in battle
3. No glitches or exploits (the badge boost and marowak skip permitted)
4. No Losing of ANY Kind (No Blackout Training)
5. No Double-Team TM before level 100*
Other Things to Know:
1. Pokeballs (HM Pokemon) are allowed in battle
2. I play the game at 4x game speed (238 frames per second)
3. My Pokemon have perfect DVs
4. Skipping the bike is not allowed
5. Saving between Elite 4 members is allowed
6. If the solo Pokemon faints and I choose to blackout it counts towards my reset counter and I still have to reset
Terms:
1. STAB
--- Same Type Attack Bonus - a 1.5x damage multiplier for using a move that shares it's type with the attacker
2. DVs
--- The Gen1 equivalent of IVs (individual values), these range from 0-15
3. Stat XP
--- The Gen1 equivalent of EVs. But unlike EVs, you can reach the limit with every stat

Short Bio:
My Name is Steve, and welcome to my Channel!
I grew up in the early 2000's playing a lot of generation 1 and 2 Pokemon games on Gameboy Advanced and SP. But I wasn't a big team building guy, or catch them all kind of guy. I liked changing the settings to set battle style, and brute forcing every battle with the Pokemon I had (just like ASH). Now as an adult, I get to do the same thing, but I'm informed about stats, match-ups, and glitches.
So follow along with me, each week as I speedrun Pokemon red and blue with a different Pokemon and fill my pokedex, learn from the experience, and beat it again with a much better performance. Sit back, relax, and watch me struggle/ease my way through Kanto with 1 single Pokemon. Keep an eye out for easter egg and play mistakes along the way, make sure to tell me in the comments about them.

A small note, you coulda used Surf against Jasmine, and after you beat her, If she was the 7th gym leader beat, you could of gone to Blackthorn, because it opens after 7th gym leader is defeat. Then go there and delete the move, they change it in HG & SS, that team rocket has to beat first.

@@SteveMPlays strangely, in GSC, hes gone after you beat the 7th gym leader, its that you cant face claire till team rocket is defeated

This is something I will consider investigating next time. Since I can fly, it doesn't waste any time either. You definitely could be right, because the team rocket phone call is very enticing after getting that 7th badge.

I wish gen 2 had a better color palette, a lot of the shinies are mostly the same. But it's nice to see something different.

Lugia sure does have pp problems, things would be real interesting without tm's for mew, because it uses transform.

very nice video good editing. May i ask why you decided to not teach Psychic over Return ?

Return is the best move in the entire game, however I would have tried some different move combinations if the red battle didn't go so well. It's good to have options, and the Kanto gym leaders weren't particularly so much of a challenge I needed psychic immediately.

Even if I was smart enough to think of that. The power for mud slap is so low, I wonder if it would have made a difference in the end. I just tried too early.

I think the question is if I'll do gold or silver, cause I am probably going to do all the legendaries. The problem is that all the stats on the sides of the screen won't work if I change versions. But unlike gen 1, the differences between gold and crystal a very small. Mainly just item placement and some Mandatory story elements.

Nicely done! Lugia is really good when it comes to typing and movepool. It had a slow start with aeroblast's low pp, but I think that not an issue, because you can make a better usage of struggle in this gen because its only doing 1/4 damage then 1/2 in gen 1, so you can safely use it until you'll get onter move, and save some time. 😊 By the way, zap canon will always paralyse if it hits, much like dynamic punch, just for electric types. And yeah, you were on point calling Karen rival 2 in gen 2, she is really bad in solo runs, but not so much in nuzlockes. I hope that Mew would take her down easily with swift or psych up (because it can copy the opposing pokemon's stat changes, but I'm not sure where you could get the tm for that🤔). Anyways, keep up the good work, the editing was really good, and well thought out 😁.

Thanks, I didn't know that about zap cannon. I've been learning a lot in the first two runs, Scott and squidgy give me all the tips I need. It won't be long before I'm putting up good times. Mew was already a massive improvement over lugia.

I said on my mew stream that I was going to try for weekly uploads. But it's become clear to me today that I can't do that while also doing shorts. I've been at it all day while watching things too, but cutting, naming, exporting, uploading, and scheduling like 35 shorts a week takes a long time, even if it's just content that's already made. But I'm getting close to 1k subs, so I'll tone it down after I get monitized.

How did you encounter a shiny bulbasaur?

I used a rom editor to change all trainer pokemon's dv's to 15 atk and 10 everything else. That happens to make everything shiny.
