Scheherazade was the first symphonic work I ever heard, at age 5, and I was hooked on it and classical music in general. The ability of Rimsky-Korsakov to use the orchestra to create a work both intimate and colossal still fires my I imagination. I close my eyes and I see and hear the stories as Scheherazade might have told them. 63 years later and I am still in love with this piece. Like Maestro Schwarz, I too have many recordings of it. As in the recording of Daphnis and Chloe, the orchestra is out-of-this-world talented, and the audio engineering is superb!

Brillant, thank you! I have just one request if I may: activate the (automatic) subtitles/captions please! It is easier to follow the great spoken informations for not-english-speaking viewers. Thank you so much! ♥

Sublime playing! Are there any Chicago or Cleveland wind players? I don't see any.

Can you guys be in tune with the times and play Babbitt?

? How is that? In tune with the times? They play what they want and I hope they don’t have a bunch of egos get in the way. They need to play pieces that are fairly well-known and that are catchy.

When you have this much talent, in one place, why wouldn't you want to perform perhaps the greatest tone poem of them all?

What cosmologically stupid moron decided it was ok to stick ads in the middle of pieces like this?
