OMG i’m so happy you posted again i love your monthly wrap up videos and of course your taste in literature!!! and the rest of my comment is what i read in june and i read 10 books what I read in the month of june: - the great gatsby by f. scott fitzgerald, i liked this but only gave it 3.5 stars just because i had higher expectations coming into the book, but i know you love this book but to each their own - she gets the girl by rachel lippincott and alyson derrick, it was a cute coming of age with a sweet love story but it was fine i’ve read better books like this for sure and i gave it 3.5 stars - talking at night by claire daverley, i gave this one 4.25 stars it was very good and a beautiful love story i honestly think you would like it for sure, the writing is similar to sally rooney and it’s the authors debut and the love story reminds me a lot of emma and dex from one day and connell and marianne from normal people and rosie and alex from love rosie (recommend all of these books and the tv adaptations of one day and normal people and the film adaptation of love rosie for sure) but i do recommend this one i think you would like it - men explain things to me by rebecca solnit, i gave this one 3 stars i’ve read a couple feminist non-fiction books this year but this one was my least fav i wasn’t that big fan of the authors style of writing but their were a couple interesting essays in them like Grandmother Spider but their wasn’t a concise theme throughout all the essays so it was meh but i read this because it’s been on my list for awhile and olivia rodrigo was spotted reading this so i thought to give it a try - i’m glad my mom died by jennette mccurdy, i gave this one 4.75 stars i was so late to the party but it was well-written and a powerful memoir but i deducted it .25 stars just because her talking about her ED was so descriptive it gave me an icky feeling throughout my entire body but yes it was very good obv - open water by caleb azumah nelson, i gave this one 5 stars, it was a beautiful love story and so excellently written i understand the hype and the second person writing did bother me at first but then i grew to love it i just loved the message of the book and it’s little themes that it had about life and love but an excellent read for sure - blackout by various authors, i gave this one 4.25 stars it was recommended by a teacher for me and it was very cute book with nice black love stories with including hetero and queer love stories i preferred some authors writing styles over others and it was boring at some parts but it was very cute book indeed - this is going to hurt by adam kay, i gave this book a 4.25 stars it was very good and i finished up the tv adaptation of it (which was so good OMG excellent acting and writing) but i think you will also like this one because it is a autobiography of his time working in the NHS and how they’re underpaid and under valued by the UK government but it was witty and heartbreaking book and it’s written in the form of diary entries - small things like these by claire keegan, i gave this one 4 stars it was a nice short read it was well written i don’t have much things to say about it besides it was good - americanah by chimamanda ngozi adichie, if you haven’t read this book you should for sure i gave this one 4.5 stars it’s a beautiful love story spanning over years but it’s mostly a non-fiction book pretending to be a fiction because it mostly making cultural criticism about America’s treatment of black people and specifically immigrants but a very powerful read with excellent writing and i really loved the first third of the book for sure and for july so far i’ve been currently reading: a love song for ricki Wilde by tia williams, i’m really loving this one it’s so well-written and i’m enjoying much more than her other book seven days in june

omg wow you read so many books !! thank you for your reviews, this was really interesting to read! I have also read the great gatsby, open water, this is going to hurt, and small things like these, and I honestly agree with all your opinions!! so glad to hear i'm glad my mom died is good as i've been really wanting to read it but i know that autobiographies can be a bit hit or miss! glad to hear about your other recs too, I'm excited to check them out as it seems you have a really similar taste in books as me (:

I experienced the exact same thing with ACOTAR and ACOMAF. Didn’t really like the first one but couldn’t put down the second one. It really grabs you by the throat 😂

@@katerinareem those two were Nightbitch and The overcoat. One was underwhleming and the other overhyped imo! thankfully July started with "Anne of green gables"-- a five star :)

@@katerinareem Both are good books objectively, but each needs you to be in a specific mood before reading! read Anne if you are ready to hear a girl yap passionately for pages about her daily life. read Nightbitch if you want to read seemingly endless paragraphs of a woman who's feeling like she no longer has an identity or life besides her newborn and is slowly losing her mind over it (though I DNFed it at 40-something% so I am not sure if anything else happens).

Sunburn sounds like an incredible story.... onto my list it goes. The past few months I've only managed to read one or two books, which is Ok... I found an old copy of Violin by Ann Rice and am almost finished it. I'd forgotten just how much I loved the story in Violin. Still working on Shakespeare's Loves' Labor Lost... and July's pick for Shakespeare is The Merchant of Venice... better get a move on it

I still haven't got round to any of shakespeare's books which I really wanted to - I agree that it's so hard to find the time these days !! violin sounds interesting though!

Have you ever read What My Mother And I Dont Talk About? It’s soooii good. I highly recommend it, specially because of what you said that you thought that Conversations On Love would be on a collection of essays format…. I like non fiction when it’s written as essay or essays, just chefs kiss 🤌🏼
