Induction is more efficient than electric because the pan itself generates the heat, instead of an element generating heat and then transferring it inefficiently to the pan over an air gap. It would work with a kettle if made for an induction hob top and would be more efficient. Quite what relevance that has to a stand mixer I don't know as a wired cable would be much more efficient if just transferring electricity is the goal.
@Entertainment-2 ай бұрын
Convenience is more important than efficiency for small kitchen appliances. Who's is using a mixer for hours? Typical use is 3-10 min.

@@Entertainment- Did you even listen to the video? Your comment makes no sense. The video incorrectly stated that the mixer was more efficient due to induction, which is the exact opposite of physics.

The Ki wireless standard Is there to make anyone rebuild their kitchen, waste a lot of energy, and add the "smart" monikers here and there. Cannot work well vertically, need people to guess positioning, and essentially make us dependent on software companies even where we had quite good standards already. A magnetic plug to reduce risks for kids and make the appliance detach to reduce the risk of falling, and way easier to make retrocompatible, would have been too consumer oriented.
@ryanj42742 ай бұрын
I agree. The last thing we need is to pipe kilowatts of power with terrible efficiency. Arguably the worst possible application of wireless power transmission. Power hungry appliances that are seldom moved or used.

The wireless power for kitchen appliances makes a lot of sense. Dealing with cables and plugs on a toaster, coffee machine or mixer is really annoying as you have to untangle, and retangle it for only a 5 min use. And since you're not using them for hours on end, efficiency doesn't really matter.

Lunar Lake looks great, but is made by TSMC mostly, and just packaged by Intel, right? Given they have been late on launches, skipping 20a to focus on 18a makes a ton of sense given the limited predicted use of 20a anyway. Hopefully they get on track with Foundry and keep competition strong.

The NPU indicator is good becoz it allows for the user to know if and when the NPU is working. Similar to how there r camera and microphone LED indicators on phones, allowing user to know if they are in use or not. Mr. Friday Checkout himself explained it in his "Leaked docs show that tech products are listening to you" video. He said that previously it seemed impossible that devices were sharing a continuous stream of user data to advertisers but with the advent of AI, the ondevice Ai can figure out the key points and just send those to the advertiser. This indicator will aid in users knowing if their NPU is working on something when not actively in use by the user allowing for this audio sniffing by advertisers(if it happens) to be exposed

@Conqueror252 ай бұрын
@@mindrover777 See, the point is to know. If companies are using your microphones to listen in to you or if you have been hacked and someone is using your device camera to spy on you, unless these indicators were there, we wouldn't even know. Knowing about an issue is the first step in legislating on it or going about trying to solve it. If people didn't get scammed in the past, would we be aware of them and hence be aware of what to do and what not to do? Device overheating randomly is one of the common giveaways of device being hacked along with battery drain. This indicator will allow users to understand if the NPU is being used without their permission. Atleast the more tech savvy peeps can go to the settings and check which app is using it and raise the issue online or raise awareness.

You missed the point of Ki really. Now you don't have to stow devices that you use now and then, with a cable which is honestly the big reason you don't take them in and out of a cupboard. Got a rice cooker? Put it in the cupboard, take it out when needed. Or have a rice cooker, blender and food mixer and just move forward the one you need. We've been waiting for them to finalise it for five or six years, maybe more. It's a huge improvement just like USB C being on basically everything has been - I got a lemon squeezer the other day that's USB C. Huge improvement and works very well. This might seem trivial but these are huge QOL increases and will reduce manufactured e-waste (pointless DC barrel plug charging bricks that only work with one device).

About that "efficiency gain" for wireless kitchen appliances... I hope that's not what I thinkit is. Because there is no way in hell that this would be more efficient than a simple power cable, which is almost perfectly efficient already. Induction based power transmission is and will always be less efficient than that. But of course there are other "things" that are less "efficient", when you basically start comparing apples to oranges, which I'm afraid they did here.

I am sure ki charging isn't new. I remember i had interest but chose not to go for my new kitchen. Reason due to efficiency, it will use more power than wired for less output. It was restricted to a specific area, so you can not use something else or move it like with kablecords. also its expensive and repairing seems not an feasible option so this would require replacing the tabletop. I am sure it will fail. The only version that I believe may succeed would be over the air, which may be much worst in terms of efficiency but doesn't carry over other disadvantages that ki charging provides.
