I saw Tobias said he had to stop playing this live because he got too emotional, it’s about his brother who passed away :((

not so fun fact: Tobias wrote this song for his brother, who passed just a day before they released their first album, Opus Emponymous. They don't play this song live anymore because it hurt Tobias to perform it. If you look at some live recordings you can actually see tears in his eves :(

Please please please don't apologize for sharing your feelings! This is what music is- it's all about sharing our deepest feelings with each other in ways that we understand. We're all here because Ghost makes us FEEL. My condolences on your loss, I lost one many years ago and they come back to the front of your mind at some odd times. Your little one that you have now is a gift, you would most likely not have her if things had worked out differently in 2019/2020. There is a purpose, even if we can't always see it. Huge congratulations on the birth of your daughter! I envy you, I had 2 boys, and I feel the third was most likely a boy as well. A daughter is a special thing.

I once heard that the song was about two lovers who are dying and also a little for his brother that passed away. It is such a simple yet powerfully emotional song. I pleaded for you to review it because it evokes so much emotion. One of my all time favorite songs in my life, and I'm 56 so I don't say that lightly. I'm also a father of 3, 2 boys and a girl, ranging from 16 to 9 and it does make you think.... have a great one ✌️

Life eternal's video hit me so hard the first time i watched it. The fact i was in that show and seeing this it made me remember everything from that day, the faces of the fans, the screams, the excitement its just- so much for me. And the fact that in the end quote "If you have ghosts you have everything" bro i was literally tearing up AND THE FACT THAT THEY POST THAT VIDEO THE NEXT YEAR WHICH WAS THE SHOW NAAH BRO

I always loved the double entendre to this song. It speaks both of the ppl you'll have to separate from, but also the conceptual personification of "forever." As well as the idea of, if you DID have that "eternity"/"life eternal", would you then not have to say goodbye to everyone who did not? Endlessly? It ultimately speaks of the concept of: "Touching the soul of "eternity", and consequently touching it "forever", and all the hypothetical consequences of that dream." - "*If* you had life eternal."

Prequelle came out the same year I became a father, you can imagine how hard this song hits me. I was fighting the tears until you showed the box, there I couldn't just hold it any more. We should never be afraid of expressing our emotions, specially when is something so deep. Thank you for sharing something so intimate with us, and welcome to Ghost's community, one of the most beautiful communities out there.

Ghost is a special band. I've been listening to ProgRock, Classic Rock, Jazz/Fusion and Classical for over 45+ years, and yet here comes Ghost for me in 2016, and I have been a fanatic ever since! They are not easily placed into a genre, since their music spans so many, but, for me, the best Ghost album is the one a person is listening to at the time. Sure, I can say my favorite is Infestissumam, their second album, but honestly, all their music is wonderful. This song, Life Eternal, is off the amazing album, Prequelle. To me there isn't a bad song on this album. I thought there was no way Ghost could top it.....yet, they released Impera, and once again I was blown away, and Impera is truly one incredible work of art! Ghost will always be in my heart of hearts as a favorite band, one I truly love and listen to so much! If you have Ghost, you have everything!

Two things... this video I believe was a bit of a love-letter to Ghost's fans, given how prominently they feature. Second, the end of the video shows Cardinal Copia ascending to the role of Papa IV. Which kinda fits with the lyrics.

Couldn't agree with you more about songs evoking emotions. I'm personally a sucker for the key of A minor, so songs like A beautiful life from Ace of Base I grew up jamming to and when I discovered Spillways from Ghost I instantly knew it felt like home...until they change keys on us but that's okay because it really works for the song. Anyway...I didn't know about this song before so thank you for making a video on it, I've saved it to my spotify already!
