For the Tuition portion, I will finish 10 years active duty with my master's degree. My GI bill is fully saved for my kids. If you do more than one enlistment in the Air Force you can transfer your GI bill to dependents. IE, have 2 kids, give them each 2yrs of a 4yr GI bill. I did two years tuition assistance while in the military, then used my GI bill the last two years for my B.S. I got my BS from there then transferred to a university for my MBA. Another word of advice, unless it’s Ivey league most jobs don’t care where your degree came from. Home loan I recommend buying a home, stay in it one year, refinance and rent it out, then you buy another home using your GI bill again, rinse and repeat. Last recommendation, use your GI Bill to educate yourself, build up your income to the point where you can pay for your kids college.

My favorite part about going in the military was getting out. But in all seriousness it’s an absolute life changer and for me it was mostly in the best ways. I’d go back if I could. I deployed in 2017 to the same area my uncle did back in 2008 both as machine gunners too funny enough. it’s a small world but so much comes from it, stories, memories and arguably the people who become your brothers and sisters. That’s a blessing you won’t find anywhere else truly.

With something like the air national guard, you work part time, a weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer. If you end up getting a job similar to what you plan to do in the civilian world (like a cyber job, for example) by the time you get out, you have 4+ years of experience, free job training from the military, and potentially a college degree (that the military pays for) and unlike a full-time job in active duty, you have plenty of time to be a student while enlisted. (So you can work towards your degree while enlisted) and after 6 years, you can leave completely set up for a job (or with you college degree, if you liked the military, you could become an officer) also if you picked a job with a bonus (like some cyber jobs) you can make like 50k over the course of 5 years (10k a year on top of usual pay) which sounds just alright until you realize you aren’t working anything close to a full time job, and are only working around 300 hours a year (like 45 dollars an hour combined with your base pay). Though if you picked a bad job and a war starts, you could get shot at 20 years old (with the national guard, and specifically a non-security forces job, the chance is basically nonexistent l, but it would be a pretty lame way to die ngl)

My classes are so tough I can only work 4 days a week while not letting grades drop, I was a carpenter. I did improve my situation slightly by getting my home improvement license and paying 300 to get a LLC to be a contractor. Work less make more but it’s a whole other headache tax, dealing with customers … it ain’t like you work for your self at all you work for whoever is your customer at the time. I'm tempted because I heard that the military can take care of a down payment on a home and also interested in the benefits, but I'm still going to school and I'm 25. I think the military ages out after 28, so I'm contemplating every year.

hey I’m 23 years old and considering joining the air force for the benefits and getting my family ( sisters and parents, no plans on getting married ) out of a tough situation. I do want to get at least my associates one day. Can anyone let me know what to expect and if that’s a good reason to join? I don’t really know what else to do so this is why I’m considering the Air Force. If anyone could answer this I’d appreciate it.

@@moppy3937 Sadly yes. The Air Force has specific rules regarding tattoos. Visible tattoos on the head, neck, face, or hands are not allowed. Edit: You can try to get that laser removal thing that some people do for tattoos if you really want to enlist in the Air Force.

Hey man I'm doing the enlightening Test sometime this week actually and then if I hopefully pass I'm off to BCT and hopefully I'll only do a 3yr contract in mos 12w for my first term. I'm really banking on all the benefits that I can get as I'm just 18yrs old and that I can actually get a VA Home loan to buy a house in my home in New York Queens. So yeah idk if joining at 18 is the best life decision or not but I wanted to help myself and my mom and that's about it, so thanks for all the info as I Definitely need to save alot of money lol
@stephenasmith273 Жыл бұрын
Move out of NY, the place is a shithole and way too expensive. I don’t know if they allow 3 year contracts, I’m pretty sure 4 as active is the minimum. I wish you luck though, be chill with your battle buddies and you will be fine if ur in semi decent shape/have a strong mentality.
@nikkysenpai5562 Жыл бұрын
@stephenasmith273 thanks I definitely will and yeah they have 3yr contracts that allow me to get full benefits, and then I can do 5yrs part time while trying for a college degree in something hopefully, but thanks for the advice 😄

The VA homeloan is not actually a loan. You still have to find a bank to give you a loan so if you don't have a good credit score...you cannot use the VA Home loan. The VA home loan is just the government saying if Private Doe, defaults on the payments the bank will not lose any money.
@Jack-cc3qm Жыл бұрын
The military also provides, for free, crippling PTSD, destroyed joints, and an endless fight with the VA for benefits that are righty yours.

I'm trying to think of ways we could use blacks' phenomenal spacial abilities in the military. Figuring our missile trajectories, figuring out drone behaviors, jobs for drones, that might work. It would take some training, but it could work. I've noticed that a lot of math professors are not that good at teaching math. We need to get teachers who know how to explain mathematics in ways more people can understand.
