Thank you. This gave me goose bumps. My dad is raised the way to never seem weak or show his feelings, nor tears. Me being raised the same, needed lots of therapy and working to understand and also forgive things. My young baby son is thought by me to understand his emotions. And while lots of people say, that babies don't feel empathy, I don't agree. Through emotion cards I ask him, and he is bold and honest every time. I am learning from him as well. And when he is older, I will of course be bold and honest as it's the most important thing to not be ashamed here. Thin skinned, empathetic people should be treated the finest way possible.

I was very worried at first but he pulled me close and told me no one had ever done anything so thoughtful and caring for him and he'd never felt so loved. Trust me, being this empathetic can be very difficult and draining at times... I'm very empathetic like her too, this means that my emotions are always "high" ... That's why we cry a lot, because we feel all these emotions so strongly, that at a certain point every little thing makes us cry, because we have to let it all out. Sometimes it's exhausting. And it's also very difficult to be with people, because many many people call me a "crybaby", even tho I tried to explain myself, they don't understand. I'm glad that this beautiful woman has a kind and understanding husband by her side, I hope to find a significant other that understands me and this part of me too . Anyways, sometimes my emotions are also very negative, so I feel so depressed that I can't even go out of my bed and I spend the entire day in my bed, doing nothing. Sometimes even a few days in a row. The worse I've gotten it's been 1 year and a half like this. I lost a year of university because of this. I didn't leave the house because of this. But I don't know if this is part of me being empathetic, and everyone like me has this too, or this is only part of my PTSD and Depression (which I have both diagnosed), and sometimes it happens that I feel my depression is stronger than other times. I don't know. But I digress. What I wanted to say is that there are positives and negatives on being at this level of empathetic, and it's not easy to adjust to it and learn to live with this part of yourself. For example, I have hated this part of myself for most of my life. Only a couple years ago (and I'm 31 y.o now, so it has taken me a really long time) I have started accepting it and I'm starting to learn how to live "normally" while accepting this part of myself, instead of hating it and masking it. Sorry for the long message and for my English . Edit: but I wish you can open your heart again and melt that coldness 😊 which you can do only by confronting whatever made you colder...

My family agreed to a simple Christmas this year ...no gifts for relatives except small children. It was so much less chaotic. My niece is 19. She bought me a Christmas present for the first time. First gift she's ever given me. She's been working and was very excited to get me something and it was a very thoughtful and personal gift that I love. I didn't cry in front of her but I did later when it really hit me. I had been wondering if the younger generation would appreciate family as much as our generation does and that showed me there's hope.
