I've been listening to a lot of my 'old' music like this lately. 2004 was when I first got into music. I was 14 years old and my music taste was shifting from 'whatever my parents put on the radio' to finding it myself, influence from friends, and my discovering of MuchMusic. I used to come home from school and put MuchMusic on, or one of the Galaxy channels (music channel on TV, just a black screen with the title of the song playing) and listen until supper, eat, and then listen until bed. It was a major part of my life, and realizing that it was 19 years ago (20 next year!?!?) has really been bothering me lately. Hearing some of these songs brings be back to some of those days, bringing back memories of hearing them for the first time, or hearing them in a specific store that doesn't exist anymore, or hearing it at your very first school dance etc. and it reminds you when times were simpler...at least for a 14 year old. It definitely makes me wish I had appreciated it more at the time. Aches and pains aside, it's making me truly feel my age for the first time...I figured Nostalgia would be bittersweet, but it's a lot more bitter than I expected...

I use to hate the Christian radio my parents used to play, but I found better music.

ngl.. 2004 was the greatest time of my life and i was only 12 then.. but there was just somthing so mystical about that point. it was before social media first of all. i was just going into middleschool ,, that time in my life has the most memories.. the most nostalgic feel and the most optimistic stage of my life. so much fond memories were attached to it and hte year felt so long because i was doing so many things ... its unreal how that year is just absolutly captured in a a time capsule for me.

I was the same age, such an amazing time to be a teen! Wish I could go back.

Was 8 years old at the time. Why isn’t Walkie Talkie Man on the list?? I remember this being played when watching the channel back then??

12 is a magical age: the apex of childhood. It's the age where you really explore the outside world with a deeper understanding for the first time, but you're still insulated from its harshness. For me, that year was in the 80s. So great -- the early days of MM, when they were just winging it and making it up as they went along. So many new innovative show formats. The first time I saw MTV, I was shocked at how bad it was in comparison.

I remember getting the bands demo for free at Warped Tour in Barrie. I swear it was a band member just passing them out for free.

2004 rules! "Operation: B.E.A.C.H.", my favorite Codename: Kids Next Door episode, premiered on Cartoon Network in 2004! Also, the premiere of The Backyardigans was hot property as well.

2004 was much better than I'd remembered. I liked most of these songs when they came out.

2004 was a rough year for me and my brother due to the fact that we got taking away from our mom by the children's ad society but the music was amazing

I completely forgot that’s how the much logo used to look like. I was so used to the 2013 version that I thought it always looked like that.

16 years into this countdown and one thing is very clear: MM really prefers Janet Jackson over Michael. Also these videos appear to be getting shorter than they were for the late80s/early 90s. I wonder if that denotes fewer videos making the countdown, and thus less variety overall.

I remember the period between Sept and Oct 2003! There was a really long stretch period where every morning on the school bus, you'd be hearing Evanescence (Going Under, my Immortal), and Outkast, Hey Ya. I feel like maybe there was also some of Finger Eleven (One Thing?) which always put me to sleep because it was so boring in my opinion (even the music video was incredibly boring). There was a decent bit of Billy Talent going on, too, I recall.
