Such a beautiful video with all those gobies! Your’s are so colorful! Can I ask how long it took for them to color up like that? I have had mine for a month. A few showing some color, but all mostly still gray 😅🙈 😭

Thank you so much! I have kept my gobies for about a year now, they take a long time to mature! Give them plenty ku of algae to graze on and provide lots of flow!

Hi Krish! Love your content, thank you for the share! I just got 8 blue neons…there might be 1-2 females 🤞 They’re in a QT tank right now. My question is the bigger ones are definitely more territorial and chase the other ones around. Is that just a pecking order thing and will that calm down over time? Your’s look so calm! 😂
@KrishsAquariums2 жыл бұрын
It’s a peaking order, they will settle down they are just trying to impress the females aha!

How long did it take your’s to color up? I’ve had them for almost a month. A few getting some color, but most are neutral and gray 😅😭
@KrishsAquariums2 жыл бұрын
About a year, but they aren’t showing the full colours all the time. I think you need females in the tank to see there true colours!
@moraisins2 жыл бұрын
@@KrishsAquariums ok thank you!! Now i know it’ll just take a while 👍 I tried to get females but i guess it’s hard for the store to see them :(( I might have 1 or 2, we’ll see in a year since everyone’s gray 🤣

How long have you found these Stiphodon gobies live? I've been thinking about getting some, but have had second thoughts since some info says they only live 2 years

About 3 years now!

What type of rocks are those? Been looking for similar rocks for a long time but cannot pin point the name or type. Thanks!

Scottish River Stones!

Annieae and Rutilaureus seem very similar. I can barely tell the differences. These fish are all beautiful, it's just a real shame they are so hard to raise in captivity.
@KrishsAquariums2 жыл бұрын
Yeah there are very similar in colour and size. Rutilaureus tend to have bluer cheecks!

What do you feed them?
@KrishsAquariums3 жыл бұрын

Love em, i have annie, pelewensis, atropurpureus, semoni, a large red finned male i cant find the name of, and a female percnopterygionus i would kill to find a male for XD.

That's a very nice group of Stiphodons! I am looking for percnopterygionus too but I am having no luck!

I wished these guys bred in freshwater, if I did my research correctly, their fry are swept into the ocean and return to freshwater.
@KrishsAquariums3 жыл бұрын
Same here! Your research is correct and that’s why it’s super difficult to raise the fry to adulthood. Hopefully one day someone will find a way to successful breed and raise these gobies!

has anyone in Europe started importing stiphodon caeruleus yet?
@KrishsAquariums3 жыл бұрын
Not to my knowledge, Caeruleus to one I really want to keep. I don’t think anyone has this species in captivity
@samueljosephfernald46633 жыл бұрын
@@KrishsAquariums I've been looking for them, but its the same story here in the USA. Nobody is importing from Micronesia (Ponphei Island), where they're found. Shame, because they super common on that island. I have seen a few people selling stiphodon niraikanaiensis and elegans recently. I think they get collected as by catch with ornatus. Niraikanaiensis looks almost the same as ornatus, but is a lighter red-gold color with yellow fins and green cheeks. Sometimes sold as ornatus. Elegans looks almost the same as atropurpureus, but has asymmetrical later iridescence markings, as well as on their fins
@KrishsAquariums3 жыл бұрын
@@samueljosephfernald4663 I haven't been able to find any collectors in Micronesia. Oh, really how common are they? Where did you find stiphodon niraikanaiensis being sold, I would love to keep some! I haven't seen true Elegans being sold, have you got a contact?
@samueljosephfernald46633 жыл бұрын
@@KrishsAquariums Aquatic Arts sells niraikaniensis on occasion under the name "stiphodon sp. 'neon red'" but they are niraikanaiensis. They used to be sold as ornatus "red", but they realized they were another species. Caeruleus inhabit every stream in Pohnpei island. If you google "stiphodon genus of the goby loaches online" a 30+ page thread from some years ago, and spanning over a decade, comes up. The guy who started it, Odyssey is the person who introduced stiphodons to the aquarium hobby in the mid 2000's. He has visited basically every collection point for every species. He went to Pohnpei island and surveyed all the streams and they were everywhere. In that thread, you can find high quality pictures of some of the species that aren't in the hobby yet (s. caeruleus/alcedo/niraikanaiensis/true elegans/rubomaculatus/larson/imperiorientis etc. as well as the two rutilareus variants--the Australian rutilareus will probably be classified as their own species soon, according to him). S. maculidorsalis is sometimes available too here, but I've yet to get them. For the elegans, Dan's Fish in Wyoming had some true elegans recently. I don't know who his supplier is.
@KrishsAquariums3 жыл бұрын
@@samueljosephfernald4663 I don't think they are selling niraikaniensis at the moment, I wonder who their supplier is. Yes I followed that thread for years, it's a shame it has been updated in a while now, I am keeping my eye for Odyssey to reappear again. I believe I had an Australian Rutilareus, when I first got some Rutilareus there was definitely one way bigger than the others and a lot less colourful. Really I'm surprised Dan was able to source true Elegans, I wish he had pictures of them!
