As soon as he said “she’s not good at math due to her adhd” I knew he was the A-hole. Having adhd doesn’t control what you can/ can’t learn. I love math and have adhd. Adhd is about your attention and focus, not level of intelligence/ ability to learn. The belittling would make me leave him immediately.
@84rt_2 жыл бұрын
Same I’m really good at math mainly because I have dyslexia too so it took me a long time to adjust to reading with dyslexia. Adhd doesn’t hinder your ability to learn things. The argument could be made that people with adhd are typically more intelligent because so long as our brains hyper focused on the thing, we can learn/do literally anything we put our minds to because of our need to learn everything about the thing.

This was intentional because he’s an entitled prick with little regards to anyone’s feelings but himself. Then for our honeymoon we went to Corning Museum of Glass. We made a glass flower the night we arrived. Spent the next day surrounded by beautiful glass. We got married on April Fools Day & it snowed on our honeymoon so we stayed in instead of going around to all the finger lake wineries. We loved it. Late morning Friday wedding of just close friends and family. Our son was the only other one in the wedding party. I dont like roses so flowers only cost $25. I only thing inwould had changed was to do it sooner. My dad had just been diagnosed with cancer when we got engaged. We were told we had 2 to 3 years with him. It ended up being only 4 months. The one thing that I really wanted to comment on: The Titanic, the door scene, it has been proven if they had taken off Rose's life jacket and wrapped it around the door, it would have been buoyant enough to save them both. Little fun fact I learned from Myth Busters many years back during their Titanic special, lol!

I have ADHD and will have my PhD in Biomedical sciences: Cancer biology. Actually I also was undiagnosed and not receiving treatment or help with it until last year (third year of my PhD program at 29). Undergrad chemistry major biology minor (1 class shy of a math minor with calc 3 and linear algebra (matrices based math) being my highest level math courses. I struggled with math as a kid and was always told I was just bad at math, it took me years to unlearn that kind of crap when I decided I wanted to be an independent researcher. Through undergrad I also tutored math and science, which allowed me to work with a ton of different levels and age groups, and allowed me to catch that kind of think in younger kids and teens and start unlearning “I’m bad at math” for them as well. Math is hard, people aren’t inherently good or bad at it. Some hate it and don’t want to work at it (valid), and some love it and spend their lives devoted to it. Some like me get angry and prove people wrong partially out of spite or necessity. Him being like “oh she’s not smart she’s bad at math because of her ADHD” is insanely disrespectful and also just not true. ADHD does NOT impact your ability to do math, only your ability to focus on a task you don’t find engaging, or get you locked into tasks you do find engaging. If she wanted to be an astronaut or a physicist she 100% could do that. Some of my best ideas and most fruitful research projects have come from me being in a hyper focus time pit where I’m digging through and reading dozens of peer reviewed articles and stitching my ideas and hypotheses together. While having adhd is hard at times, there are times where it has absolutely saved my butt in academics because of my ability to accomplish incredible things when I’m on the wire and hyper focus takes over.

@Anonymous-ti8yw2 жыл бұрын
@@gelililili8852 yep! ADHD isn’t really aptly named, it isn’t attention deficit so much as disregulation. This can come in either form of hyperfocus or inattentiveness. Even hyperfocus can have drawbacks, ie sometimes pulling myself away from a video game to do chores is hard, but there is definitely some strengths when it comes to being enthralled in something productive. What’s great too is ADHD medication usually helps with inattention, and overall helps with the ability to control focus when needed, but it doesn’t make you unable to hyper focus if you let yourself.

I kinda felt like everyone sucked in that story-the man more than the woman, obviously, especially because he said he couldn’t even wait 10 damn minutes. I feel like the whole problem could have been solved by literally the most basic communication. “Hey, could you maybe serve me some before plating up for the ‘gram? Your food always smells amazing and I get so hungry that I just don’t want to wait when it’s sitting there on the table looking so amazing.” DONE. Simple.

@@TheAdrift I'm glad someone else felt this way. I'm the main cook in the house just because of schedule reasons not because of a passion but if I had to wait 10 minutes everyday I would definitely be annoyed. my personal reason because I eat slow and always end up with cold food those first precious 10 minutes matters. I'm an adult though so I'd probably have a conversation with my partner and compromise on a set time or being able to serve myself before picture taking

I had an uncle in law that would shake the ice in his empty sweet tea for my aunt to jump up and refill. She finally divorced him, but not until I was in college (and Yang their kid was about 10). I saw how he treated her and detested him at that point! He dropped dead a few years ago and I just was like “meh, more clean air for the rear of us.” I was a server twice just before collegee and just after (right after I graduated high school. And thenbefore the school year as a new teacher started astray clefs ). Had someone brought in a BELL the American Chef/Restaurant would give a shot and throw him out. Immediately. No even asking gonna out not do it…the gall he did it at all would have he and the date (unless she apologized and laid) thrown out. This story can’t be real…it has to be fake. That story with the guy mad at his nasa girlfriend shows signs of an abusive partner and being a narcissist. Make note of how he said that she “bought the sheets without his knowledge” and essentially implied she needed permission from him to buy sheets for her OWN BED. Also he’s putting her down on the nasa thing most likely because the fact that it makes her look smart makes him feel inferior so he belittles her interests in order to beat her down and gain some control over her and her hobbies. It’s all control and insecurity. It’s not the interest he’s mad at, he’s mad that she has an interest that could possibly make her happy without him and look better than him. She needs to run immediately.

This one hit hard for me. On the NASA story, I love space and the wonders of the universe and all of that. I also have ADHD. I’m not an idiot, I’m actually quite smart. Neurodivergent means different, not less. But because my brain processes things different I’ll always be somewhat limited academically. The school system is not set up for people like me to succeed. I would never be able to work in a field that explores space but that doesn’t mean I can’t be fascinated and excited by it. The universe is an amazing thing and most scientists will agree that we know little to nothing about it in the grand scheme of things. So what gives that certified asshole the right to dictate who can and cannot be a fan of space? If anything, her interest in the topic proves she has an intelligence beyond his. The audacity, and the ignorance, was peaking in that post. That man is the reason so many neurodivergent people grow up feeling less than and not good enough. He’s the problem. Also, side note on another story, I had my brother-in-law as a “brides man” and my husband had his sister as his “grooms woman”. Genitals should have no say in who you want standing by your side on one of the most important days of your life. Dude needs to get a clue✌️

about the nasa story: i’m someone with a *huge* interest in children’s media and cutesy anime shit. stuff that this guy would definitely consider childish. the thing is, i spend a LOT of money on collecting (merch, figures, etc) and this stuff is everything to me. if my partner said something like “this is childish, stop wasting your money on useless stuff like that,” i’d be shattered. to have something that you love so much, something that makes the world seem a little bit brighter, belittled by someone that’s supposed to love you? that’s an awful feeling. not to mention, this girl has adhd, so it’s pretty likely that this is a hyperfocus for her. just adds another layer of shittyness.

just gotta say: i wore a tan suit with a feminine cut that matched the boys perfectly as a groomsman. one of the best experiences of my life was being able to be a groomsman for my brother with our cousin and his bff(super kind dude) instead of being forced to be a bridesmaid for his now-wife and her friends who i barely know. still, brides cousin was kinda forced into being a groomsman even though we barely knew him, but i was thrilled to be with my cousin and brother’s bff to plan to celebrate him. my now sil actually had a bridesmaid who kept trying to steal the spotlight and there was so much drama, but i LOVED wearing my tailored suit as afab/leaning nonbinary. i do get how people struggle with wearing something they’re not comfortable with gender expression wise, but that’s the deal for them to decide, not the groom to make for her lmaooo
