The only advantage an Audi dealer has over you Baz is that their parts canon is FOC whilst diagnosing. The latest diagnostic kit available is as good as dealers if not better I would suggest? Look forward to the second video👍😎

Had this problem. My car turns out to have a problem with the LED inside the headlight. You can plug the headlights into opposite sides of the car to be sure. Only suggesting this because sometimes as you know modules can do strange things when they detect a fault in a component they are operating.

These are the jobs i love. Like you say with diagnostics it could take an hour or days. Its hard to charge as a garage for this and customers dont understand the complexity of electronics on modern vehicles

Faults like this you could end up chasing your tail. The modules are very common on them indeed there is no need to make things this way just makes the job even harder

Ayy you ended up swapping the stuff over like we chatted about. Best thing to do to diagnose for speed. Seems like it’s potentially BCM not sending the output signal if you have no volt drop on the wiring. Pain in the butt!!

I had a similar problem with the headlights on a different car. It had LED matrix ones and showed levelling errors and AFL errors. This was all caused when I filled up the windscreen washer bottle and splashed everywhere by accident. Wires going up in to a connector didn't appear to be properly waterproofed, so it also did it if I went through heavy rain. I left the bonnet up on a few really hot days and it all dried out. The water caused a short and messed with the CANBUS. The main dealer wanted £3800 for the headlights, £300 for level sensors, and £800 for a BCM, plus programming and diagnostics fees, saying there was no guarantee this would fix it. So they just wanted to throw parts at it, at my expense and couldn't fault find. I can tell you it wouldn't have fixed it. I have now used sealant on the connector and around the wires affected and fitted a shield to deflect water.

Ive had audi A4. Audi A7 tdi. Worse cars ever. They look amazing, just waiting for them to go bang! My Citroen picasso is a beast.. 1.6hdi, 70+mpg. Auto. Bomb proof. I do 30k 40k a year. Nothing ever goes wrong with them.

Check the N/S/F DRL outputs from the BCM - the knackered one will have 0 volts or a very small output volts .... BCM is was about £ 500 for the last one I bought.

Audi convertibles have more water leaks than a sieve and you can guarantee it leaked in to a module somewhere a daft one I had was a corroded fuse in the main fuse box checked fuse live so nowt wrong but when I pulled it out it was as green as grass behind 🤔👍🇬🇧

Could you not plug the driver side headlamp into the passenger side wiring to see if the fault remains on that side? If the drl works then you can rule the wiring out and put it down to a faulty headlamp?

Headlight has gone end of . Remember a5 with halogen cannot remove headlight it’s bumper off on SE Models . From a s5 / a5 / rs5 owner 20 years plus , headlight has gone .

Its the BCM faulty ! had a few on all VAG cars -- Don't waste any more time its the BCM ! spent 1 week doing my 1st fault like this - So did I say its the BCM ? I bet its had a failed or failing battery recently ? when you crank the engine for some reason it causes this BCM fault ?????? i know its a pisser, You should have just swapped left for right headlight its quicker than taking the module off.

DRL can be a life saver both out on the open roads and in built up areas , My Mrs had a older Suzuki Swift and the number of time people pulled out in front of her ! Solved with a new Swift that has DRL LOL

How to make the world environmentally cleaner: make things that can't be repaired so people buy new bits or even just a new car that you then have to produce and ship, send kids down mines for rare earth metals and fit them to cars powered by coal and oil power stations, fake emmissions on diesel cars to claim superiority.
